***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (2 Viewers)

@JoeTrezz
Clayton Kershaw's first career save. He had one in the Minors, in 2006, against the Gulf Coast Nationals. With Kenley Jansen as his catcher.

That game was a perfect example of how baseball has been ruined by according-to-the-book managing.

One manager takes his ace out with 99 pitches in the seventh inning after giving up two hits, then uses five relievers to blow up the inning.

The other manager goes against all convention of the past 25 years, brings in his closer in the seventh inning for two-plus innings, then brings in his ace on a day's rest in the bottom of the ninth to finish it off.

Kudos, Dave Roberts ... huge respect for you tonight.

(Still can't stand the Dodgers, though. #neverforget1981 )

So I'm rooting for...the Jays??

Oh my word.
Dodgers>Jays>Cubs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Indians for me

I could agree, but what do I do when Adrian "I hate all these prime time games in Boston" Gonzalez steps to the plate.

Epstein's love for him cost us Rizzo. Now we have Hanley, which isn't bad, but certainly not cost-controlled.

Have a question for you guys that follow baseball more than me. Have mound meetings always been with the gloves over the mouths? I know what the purpose is, just don't remember it from back in the day.
Fairly recent development relative to history of the game.  First pitcher I remember seeing do it was Jack McDowell for the White Sox in the early 1990s.  Don't recall when it became standard, but it was years after NFL playcallers adopted holding their playsheets over their mouths when talking to the booth upstairs as standard practice.

Jayson Werth deserves the unclutch award tonight.  Left runners at 3rd twice with less than two outs, thrown out at the plate by 20 feet, and no where to be found when Trea Turner needed help on the Justin Turner triple.  This is the guy who whined about being moved to LF last year because Bryce Harper wasn't exponentially better, and throws the lead by example shtick around more than anyone in baseball.  You led the team in fail tonight Jayson, you suck.

Plus, the Jays have John Gibbons, who is very underrated for being awesome and extremely entertaining.

These teams are exactly the same.   Dodgers don't even have a 4th pitcher, so your argument is dumb.
I might have given you the benefit of the doubt if you mentioned that I forgot Roark, but since you didn't and you want to play the condescending game, I'll stoop.

This is simple enough for even you to understand.

When the options are facing the opposing ace in games 2 and 5/6 instead of games 3 and 6/7, you take take the latter

Especially with the Cubs having home field and being the fav.

Now, with Kershaw throwing the 9th, that might be all out the window. We don't know what games he'll throw now.

but when I posted it, not knowing Kershaw would throw tonight, he was lined up for game 2. If given the choice, no matter how much of a bandwagoner you might be, the Cubs wanted to face your 5th favorite team before the Dodgers

Stop being an #######.  :bye:

You lost the argument, those teams were very similar and the Nats owned most of the regular season stats.  So you're just being a ####bird, because you want the Cubs to die in a fire.  I'm cool with that, but if you want to argue show your cards and don't be a little #####.  Want me to bump that post again, or are you just going to cackle on like a woman?

Hey Limp #######>I've been to more Nationals games in the past five years than you've been to #### Sux games in your entire life.

Move closer to Chicago, stop being afraid to go to the southside to see the ####tacular team you follow because there are too many negros over there.
And you're going to play the ####### race card with me? Are you serious with this ####? Put down the scotch and go to bed. It's like you think Rock needs competition as the resident rambling drunk on this site.

Now only if I wanted the Nats to die in a fire... oh, wait!

NLDS:

Dodgers 4 Nationals 3

Nationals 5 Dodgers 2

Nationals 8 Dodgers 3

Dodgers 6 Nationals 5

Dodgers 4 Nationals 3

Nationals 24 Dodgers 19 in runs

Go Cubs!

Is this what happens when you move a perfectly good baseball thread into the FFA??

Back to the forum with all y'all.
You have no room to ever criticize anyone in this forum, ever.

Me and Limpy go back as long as this forum exists and I actually love him.  So piss off.

Never knew there was a DD-Limp Ditka feud in here.
Hell no.  Capella and I argue all the time, heated arguments.  LD and I argue all the time, heated.

We are cool very quickly and PM about tickets and fantasy baseball and all that.  We're adults who act like children because of sports.  But like adults we aren't holding grudges and being teenage chicks when it comes to communication.  I mix it up with many people in this forum, some can take it like those guys (and you too), and some guys can't (squisy for example).  Internet is serious business, but I'll buy most of you guys beers anytime you're in town and I have a history of it.  Forgive, forget, it's baseball.  That's why we have a separate forum for the baseball :nerd: , this #### is serious...then tomorrow it isn't.

LD is a good dude, I've known him via electrons for years.  Would buy him many, many beers.

He sits with the wives, man.
Sat with the Rangers' wives for a game at Fenway in 1999. About 15-20 rows behind home plate. When the conversation with a friend, about how the tickets were obtained,  started I said something to the effect of 'Every player gets 2 tickets per game, its in their contract. it's the Rangers, on the road, 1,000 miles from home. Do you really think Pudge has his family here taking up seats?'

Of course there was 10 members of the Rodriguez family 2 rows behind me

:bag:

Get a room.

I'm done with NLDS games. Every one I go to, I come home after 1 am feeling like I had a bad night at da club
