***2016 MLB Playoff thread: Cubs win for first time since sliced bread hit market (1 Viewer)

WFNY: The Indians vs. J.A. Happ

The duty for hitters boils down to picking which location offering for them to sit on.  Sitting on the fastball inner half or sinker low and away will be dependent on count. Happ is a pitcher where the Indians can attempt to cut out a section of the zone and be aggressive. As matchups go for the Indians and left handed pitching, this one appears to be slightly favorable but baseball often makes optimism look foolish.

Seeing the way Tito is using Miller in early, high-leverage situations and then coupling that with Roberts' ballsy use of Jansen and Kershaw gives me hope that the days of the formulaic cookie-cutter bullpen approach might be going by the wayside.

Of course it probably never will because too many managers just fall back on doing it by the book "just because". A lot easier not to get criticized that way.
Not that I disagree, but Tito does have a strong rest of the bullpen to give him some more flexibility. I agree, and love the way they use Miller, but if a manager only has one arm he can depend on, he's going to be ####ed no matter when he uses him.

Andrew Miller is a bad mother####er
He looks Rivera-esque in the way he allows Francona to manage a game, much like Dickie Dunn and RiversCo pointed out.

And don't think Francona won't keep using him. He ran Foulke into the ground in 2004 in Games 4-7 in the ALCS. Foulke was never the same, unfortunately, but he's a 2004 legend.

Baseball :nerd:  were too hard on a 22-year-old Baez last year. "Will never be able to control K rate, too aggressive at plate, bad pitch recognition," etc. I'm a big believer and his star is rising. Lowered K rate, fast on the bases, decent power, and a phenomenal fielder.

And just wait until he's comfortable enough to start employing his power profile, this is a 40 HR upside guy IMO. One of my favorite young players in the game.

We saw a massive retail surge this week with the Cubs, coming off a much softer than planned Sept and Division Championship.  Getting past the Giants has given Cub Fan a huge confidence boost.
Nothing to show for it, but he just hammered that ball

Baez first player to steal home in postseason since Elvis Andrus did it in the 2008 ALCS.

Is the last guy to steal home in the World series..
