GL to the Wildcats and all their passionate fans. They look really, really good.
Making my first-ever trip to Rupp Arena on 1/28. This is bucket list item for a lifelong hoops junkie like me and I'm excited about it.
Any recommendations on places to eat, hang out before or after the game? We'll be getting into town Friday late afternoon/early evening, game is Saturday at 5:00, heading back Sunday morning.
I'll be rooting for the visiting team but I'm a lot less obnoxious in person than I am here. Hoping to come across UK fans who have been following the program since the days of Goose Givens and Kyle Macy.

The Goose led us to a championship when I was a senior. Played against him in high school.
The Main Street area has a lot of nightlife and is only a few blocks walk. The campus is walkable but further away. There's not much in the arena itself, other than 24,000 bourbon-infused fanatics.
Nearby stuff at this link. The Bluegrass Tavern was one of the original bourbon bars. Cheapside is a good place to grease the morning after. The Village Idiot has a very eclectic menu.

Thanks! 1978 is the first Final Four I remember watching. UK over the Arkansas "Three Basketeers" in one semifinal, Mike Gminski outplaying Bill Laimbeer as Duke beat Notre Dame in the other. Had CBB been a national sport at the time, a much bigger deal would have been made about UK knocking Magic Johnson out of the Tournament in the regionals.
Thanks for the link. Will distribute that among my travel party.
