2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (4 Viewers)

It's become a fall tradition: UCLA getting shoved around by Stanford.

I'm so sick of this. The Bruins have all kinds of talent on defense, yet they give up 50 points every week. Mora needs to be gone. Now. #### this ####.

I know there's a trend that a team in the preseason top 10 has finished outside of the final top 25 every season for at least the last decade ... I want to say the actual number is 14 straight seasons, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, if that is to continue this season, Florida State has to be the likely candidate, right?

I was just reading that FSU is still winless. That is surprising this late in September. We'll probably get a humorous title to this thread about it.

1. Alabama (last week: 1)

2. Clemson (2)

3. Oklahoma (3)

4. Penn State (4)

5. Georgia (9)

6. USC (6)

7. TCU (17)

8. Washington (7)

9. Wisconsin (8)

10. Ohio State (10)

11. Michigan (12)

12. Virginia Tech (13)

13. Miami (14)

14. Oklahoma State (5)

15. Auburn (T-15)

16. Louisville (19)

If they give up 50 points a week on defense...then they are not that talented.

That was likely the most dominant win in Bama history:  600 more total yards, 500 yards rushing, 38-3 first downs, and Vandy never crossed the 50.

If you could hypothetically just draft 22 Alabama players off the team and they could replace with 22 hand picked players from D2-D3 what record would they end up with?

Saban went  6-5-1, 6-6, and 7-5 when he took over at Michigan State.  I figure he's improved a game or two since then, the D2-D3 talent compared to the mid-90s MSU rosters drops them a couple of games, so my guess is about 6-7 wins in a season.

Well, that optimism around Oregon's resurgence was short lived.  15 penalties pretty tough to overcome.  Guess I can cancel my Alamo Bowl plans.
Trying to stay positive as they are very young and are heading in the right direction but that was tough to watch last night.   Another 15 penalties and numerous 3rd and long conversions allowed by the defense.  As a side note, I think the Pac is pretty weak in general this year.  Sadly Washington is probably the team to beat but they are not as good as they were last year.  I think every Pac 12 team will have at least 2 losses in league play.

You’re basically asking what would happen if Bama’s first string was gone and replaced with D2?  Id say it would be maybe a 8-4 team, and that’s a testament to how good I think Bama is as a program.

I don’t think it’s their starters that make them necessarily special, it’s that they can rotate like 60-70 guys who were all 4 and 5 Stars. That kind of talent and depth just lets you grind everyone opponent down. You take away 22 of those guys, you still have a very good squad but everyone is a little more tired, more worn down, and the talent gap closes quickly.

Referring to UM as "Hillbilly State" seems a little unusual given Coral Gables' relative flatness and low elevation, but I'm still going go with fair.

7 or 9 suspended Gators are now facing felony charges for fraud. Including Callaway and Scarlett.

Honestly I don't know that those guys have much to do with UF's problems other than in terms of depth and disruption. The Gators have more than enough play-makers at both RB and WR and none of the other suspended players were starters. I'm sure this will be used as an excuse all season though.
Callaway was certainly a starter. Wasn't he by far the best player on offense?

Right, I was saying other than Callaway and Scarlett they weren't starters. Callaway was the top big-play WR and returner. But UF really is fine at WR with Cleveland, Powell and Toney. Their issues are other places.

Nah, I scored well enough to get into a private college and graduate with an engineering decree.

Sorry you had to go to a safety school.
Then how come you can't comprehend basic ### posts on a message board full of dimwits?

and FSU law is no safety school bro.

Meanwhile, McElwain took this opportunity to bury the lede that LDR is starting vs Vandy and Franks is benched.

:sigh:

I think that was obvious after the second half Saturday. LDR seems to know where to go with the ball.

Seems highly unlikely now that Franks ever works out.

LDR is not good. One of the TD drives he led was all running except for a WR pass by Toney. On the other UK didn't cover the WR that scored at all.

Really way to soon to make that kind of judgement on a RS freshman like Franks. Wuerffel spent two years being yanked back and forth with Terry Dean.

Not that the decision is a surprise but McElwain has butchered this situation badly. He threw the kid in there knowing he might not be ready, the offensive scheme is lacking, and they lost their best RB. The fact that people are ready to write off a 19 yr old redshirt freshman is telling.

Why would any highly ranked QB recruit go to UF now (as long as Nussmeier is there)?

Mac is a horrible, terrible coach. He is way over his head there and UF should can him tomorrow. I hope he stays forever.
