You're doing a much better and far funnier job than I was, GB.
You think this is funny? ####### Mercer in November is serious biz, yo

if he wants to go to a school that's going to make him look 2x better than he might actually be, Wisconsin is that place

can't remember the last RB who didn't put up insane numbers at UW
Corey Clement maybe? But he was hampered by injuries. Bradrick Shaw most recently for sure but JT flat out stole the job so he doesn't get the carries.

That being said, the Dayne, Calhoun, PJ Hill, et al non-success in the NFL seems to be trending the other way. James White doing his thing in NE. Melvin Gordon is pretty solid in SD. Clement has something like 7 TDs on 10 RZ touches in Philly this year as a backup.

my wife's grandfather worked Michigan sidelines for 45 years. Said when Jim was a kid, he was the worsssssssssssst. Just a grade-A doosh of a kid (doosh my word: grandpa would never).

Even at 90 years old he would watch the games with us and get confused at which was Jim and which was John. "Is that Jim? I couldn't stand him. Did I ever tell you that when he was a kid....."

I am not sure if you want an honest answer or this is schtick but Ill go with "you really wanna talk about it"

Injuries- Rudock gets hurt in year 1, Best DT gets hurt right before defense goes into the tank in '15. Year 2 Speight gets hurt in Iowa game and they lose, plays hurt in OSU game and they lose. Year 3 Speight hurt, not Peters hurt. Stuck with O'korn. Not to mention True Sophmore LT nearly loses leg early in season and might never return.

Tough Division- Ohio State obviously is loaded and has a great coach/program. I dont think anyone realistically expected to jump them in year 2. PSU's James Franklin has a 1 yar head start on Harbaugh and I would argue isnt in any better spot. Harbaugh leads him 2-1 and the "opportunistic win" is the only thing that separates PSU at all in that they won the Big Ten. MSU has had a great run with Dantoni as their coach.

Expectations- 10-3 in year 1, 10-3 in year 2, Probably 7 or 8 wins in year 3 and pretty much returning everyone other than Mo Hurst and Mason Cole in '18 seems like he isnt "disappointing".

In Summary, I get it...they havent won the Big Ten or even their Division in 3 years....but I dont think their are fundamental flaws in Ann Arbor. I think they are headed in the right direction and I would argue they havent "won any coinflip games" in 3 years other than the Minnesota game in '15. I can name 5 they have lost though....They need a QB. Everyone needs a QB. They started out without one and havent gotten one in his 3 years. I dont think Peters was the answer and Dylan Mcaffrey doesnt look the part to me. I could be wrong. They arent going to accept any transfers I dont think so unless I am wrong I would expect they have a ceiling of 10/11 wins until they get one...and you generally dont get one as a true freshman.

Harbaugh deserves criticism for lack of QB, but that wont continue forever. Defense should be elite as long as Don Brown is there and from there they should be off. He has has 2 full recruiting classes and a partial going into the '15 season. If he doesnt get it done after 4 cycles then I would say you can say "something is holding him back".

I have a million more thoughts, but those are probably the biggest for now.
I'm not ready to write Peters off, though I think Harbaugh could expand his recruiting to more mobile QBs.  They still need to be able to, at least, throw the ball in the ocean too.  I'll add to this that they have this weird cycle where when they lose talent, it's in large chunks.  I suspect this goes back to the mass exodus when RR left.  The bare cupboards left behind still seem to be haunting them and Hoke didn't know how to smooth things out.  "Red shirt" anything seemed to be a foreign concept and only now are they getting back on track.  I will always be a "5 year" guy...a unicorn of sorts, so my only hope going forward is that they can get the offense to "reload" status like they have the defense.  They need to do some major focusing on the offensive line in this class and the next two IMO sprinkling in some good weapons along the way.

My :2cents:

And this week's game won't be close if Dan Brown refuses to go zone at least part of the game to keep Barrett from running all over the place.  Make him throw the ball.  Him having another career game throwing like he did against PSU is incredibly improbable.

Im buying the Auburn koolaid for that game. I see Bama as just a better version of UGA and I think Auburn can manage that. I’m not saying they win for sure or anything, but I really like their chances.

I’ve got a decent Tommy Bowden story...

Senior year, Ludacris is playing the rugby field at Clemson.  This is around 2003, so we’re at the height of Ludacris popularity with “Roll Out” and “Move #####” in major rotation on every radio station.  Combine that with $10 student tix and we were ready to go.  We drive over from the apartment and park at the baseball fields. At this point in time, the coach’s offices were still on that part of campus and as we trek from the baseball lot to the rugby fields, we pass right behind those offices. As we’re walking by we look over about 20ft to our right, and there’s Tommy grabbing something out of his car and heading back in to work. We yell out “Hey Tommy!!” to which he replied “Hey Fellas!! Are ya’ll going to see Delicious!?”

I still love Tommy B.
  this is great.

Are you making the drive from ATL to Cola this weekend?

I'm not necessarily a "run the option" guy, but with 1 game left this season Nebraska has 1,223 rushing yards.  I used to consider that a "good" season for an individual, not for a team total.

I know we will never get back to our former glory, but in 1997 Nebraska rushed for 4,711 yards.

This is still Nebraska.
No, it's not. And as a Sooners fan, that pains me to say.

Unfortunately, no. We were actually in Cola twice for weddings in the past month, but not this weekend.  You going?  I actually enjoy Williams Brice. When I lived in Rosewood, I’d had lots of Gamecock friends that would go to games if Clemson wasn’t playing.

Nebraska is that aging former trophy wife that has blown through the money left to her by her late husband.  Her Wednesday brunch friends talk about her behind her back.  She can barely scrape enough cash together for her country club membership.  She will lose her coveted social status if she doesn't find a sugar daddy soon.
Sold their football soul to the Devil.

Yeah, Ill make it.  One day we'll have a good tailgate for these

Man, watching that Georgia Dome implode today was something.

Latest Chip - Gators rumor is that UF actually has signed deal that doesn't take effect until after season so money doesn't offset this year NFL salary. Flip side of rumor is that UF will turn down bowl invite if they somehow bumble their way to 6th win.

Aren’t they 4-6 with only one game left?

You are correct. Gators can't get 6th win but a win vs Seminoles could make them bowl eligible at 5-6.

If there are not enough teams with six wins, 5-7 teams will be needed to fill out bowl slots. Those candidates are selected by classroom APR.
ETA - Never mind

While 6 wins is the generally recognized threshold for bowl eligibility, there is precedent for 5-win teams to earn an invite if there aren’t enough 6-win teams to fill all available spots.

Priority is then given to the 5-win teams with the best APR (Academic Progress Rate) scores.

First, though, 70 teams have already reached bowl eligibility, leaving only eight spots remaining with 39 bowl games in place.

As USA Today broke it down, four more teams will join that list this weekend as Colorado-Utah, California-UCLA, Indiana-Purdue and Middle Tennessee-Old Dominion all will turn a 5-win team into a 6-win team.

There are 14 other 5-win teams that could clear the threshold this week as well. Florida is far enough down the list of APR rankings among potential 5-win teams that it likely wouldn’t even come to a decision for the Gators.

But if it did, and this is the more important point, it isn’t likely the Gators would accept a bowl invite while going through a coaching transition.

I don’t think any five win teams are going to be eligible this year. Thought I read enough cusa, mac etc... teams would get to 6 and fill out the open spots.  (Life of a GT fan  :bag: )

SOS doesn't mean too much int he rankings does it?

I'm surprised, they way people are talking, thought that was a major factor

Sumlin also now reportedly out after the weekend.

So that’s TAMU, Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas looking from the SEC alone. UCLA at least outside that.

Rumored Jimbo to TAMU just opens up FSU, and rumored Gus to Ark just opens up Auburn.

Tennessee is screwed.

Ole Miss too, right? Isn’t that guy just an interim?

Gus must really hate Auburn to leave for Arkansas.

True...good catch...although with the pending program crippling sanctions in Oxford, Tennessee MAY have a leg up there.

LSU stays put I assume?
LSU stays put.  They've got a chance at a 10 win season.  Nobody saw the troy loss coming or the thumping by Mississippi State, but most people will be happy with 10-3 in O's first year.

How mad is LSU about Jimbo headed to TAMU?  Didn't they go all in for Jimbo last year?

SEC West is about to turn into a carnival.

The only job I think Mullen may bolt for is FSU.  I bet they have their sights a little higher though.

Why do you guys just assume Jimbo is going to tamu? Last few years haven't taught you anything? He does the same thing to squeeze the admin annually.
