2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Helton totally outcoached last night. I said this last week at the Stanford game as well but the inability on 4th and goal to line up the QB under center and do a QB sneak or jam a FB up the middle is embarrassing.

The dude is ####### worthless. He had no adjustments on offense for a run game that Texas did a great job stopping. Then with two minutes left in the game usc almost gets beat deep, and I am like they have to bring a safety over the top for help, and the next play Texas goes deep again with a usc cb in man and he gets beat.

Needing a walk on freshman kicker to save your ### at the end of regulation and ot is not a winning formula.

Should have put tx away in the first quarter and almost paid for it. This is not a playoff caliber team. Give credit to Herman he was pulling out every stop to win with an offense that is pretty putrid. Might also want to tell their punt returner to stop fielding punts on the 1.

Another week, another win for Cal that goes completely unnoticed by the world.  Good start for Wilcox.

Cal and Oregon both 3-0.  Looking forward to the game on Sept 30.

OK, your knowledge is superior to my recollection. (That wasn't meant to be sarcastic; thanks for the info.)
I'm an Aikman fanboi.  Only jersey I've ever owned in life. Still have it.  Also a shrine to Aikman at work. It's weird.  But he's my guy.

And Tennessee was totally in a cover 2, the cb covers the flat and lets the Wr run right by him on a Hail Mary :lmao:

dude wtmf. Then safety is like oh #### this is my responsibility? No chance. Just terrible by the coaches of Tennessee. How do these bozos have jobs.

It wasn't a Hail Mary. UF only sent two guys deep. The rest ran shorter routes. As has been pointed out, they had 9 seconds, a timeout and a cannon-legged kicker. UT couldn't just ignore the underneath routes.

The flat is 35 yards downfield?

Yes god forbid Florida gets it to the 45 of Tennessee with 1 second left.

How big of a loss is Watson?  When is Robertson back?
Seems like Cal was still able to run the ball.  Not sure on Robertson.  Wilcox putting his thumbprint on this team in a hurry.  They sacked Patterson 5 times and picked him off thrice.  He added some longtime Duck coaches to his staff at Cal.  Happy for him after he was unceremoniously run out of USC for cussing in the booth. :lmao:

Did we discuss James Franklin icing the kicker of Georgia Southern to preserve a shut-out? :lmao:

I know it won't happen, but were there a karma god, sure would be nice to see them lose to Iowa.

Fun fact of the day:
LSU fired the winningest coach in their history (77%) and hired the losingest coach in Ole Miss history (29%).

In hindsight, what does Nebraska's move to the Big 10 look like?  They had a much easier path staying put to build momentum.

They make a #### ton more annually in the Big Ten. Easy decision. Not like their football team was dominating the Big 12 before they left either.

What are you basing the revenue difference on?  Just some random googling doesn't really support that big 10 is doing that much better than the big 12.

Texas owned the Big 12. They didn't like to share and the Longhorn Network was in the works.

Besides, losing to a Rutgers or an Iowa State is the same.

Your google is broken then....not only are they  making (getting ready to make) more than in the B12 in sports revenue, they are also going to be getting billions from the CIC agreement on the academic side (provided they can prove their worth on the academic side).  It's not even close all things considered.  And none of this includes what they will be making in the new TV contract the B1G is negotiating for when the current one is up in the next few years.

Well I was looking at prior year figures. Sue me.

What type of bump will all this give them?

Well, the answer is "it depends".  It depends on what the final money number is on the TV/sports deal is and it depends on what the schools can get grant wise.  CIC is a collaboration where all the schools operate is one big group when it comes to research and funds.  So if Michigan enters a billion dollar endeavor with Google, all the schools can participate if they want and they get access to all the research.  Students can take classes at Michigan and the credits transfer to Nebraska and vice versa.  This sort of set up has shown to be pretty lucrative since it's not on the individual school(s) to fund everything academic on their own.

John L Smtih (he's had many)
"The kids are playing their tails off, and the coaches are screwing it up!" is a line that will never be forgotten at MSU. Pretty much summed up Smith's tenure.

When I went to see MSU in the Rose Bowl a few years ago, I saw a fan with a t-shirt that said "The kids are drinking their tails off, and the police are screwing it up!"
