2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

UB pulled it out against Ohio today, 31-24, despite blowing a 17-point lead.  Star WR Anthony Johnson tallies 6-155-2 and officially says he will forego the NFL draft and play his senior season.

Bulls finished 6-6 despite most projections having them in the 3-4 wins range.  The 6 losses are 2 1-point losses, a 7 OT loss against WMU, a blown 10-point 4th quarter lead against 8-3 Army, a 10-point loss at Minnesota despite being within 1 score with 3 minutes left, and a crushing defeat with a true freshman 3rd string QB against Miami (OH).

A lot of ups-and-downs this season but they've shown a lot of heart.  Time to see if they get a bowl bid.  I suspect they'll be on the outside looking in, but it's only the third time in 19 D-1A seasons that they've been bowl eligible so it's hard not to see it as a success either way.
  at the bolded.

I was going to post that I expect at least 14 more points in the final 1:40 of this game in Orlando. But the Knights took the KO to the house before I even finished typing it. USF will no doubt tie it up.

What’s the tie breaker that guarantees OSU a division win?  ETA: I guess division record then H2H v MSU.

I laughed a bit at the comment, but it wasn't as outrageous as it sounded.  He's friends with Jadeveon Clowney and a bunch of other guys he grew up with in South Carolina, and he asked them for advice on what to do and they told him to stay in school.  He's come out of nowhere (JuCo transfer with little fanfare) to shatter school records.  Going into today he was 4th in the nation in yards, t-3rd in TDs, and 13th in receptions.....all in a bad offense that isn't a "system" offense that throws the ball every play.  Had 3 different QBs this year due to injury.  I'm excited to see what the future holds for him.  I suspect he'll grade low in 40-time at the combine but he looks the part of a legit NFL WR.

Both Nebraska and Texas seem to be on the same track to complete obscurity. I didnt even know they played last night. I thought they opted for Saturday games and there was more chatter about Tcu Baylor.

Just over an hour til the big game to determine who is the king of north central to northwest Florida :excited:

Most FGs converted after opponent's turnovers should be the deciding factor.

Twitter tidbits:

  • Chip Kelly to UCLA is almost complete; and
  • NE has called a press conference to announce firing of Mike Riley.

Chip Kelly changes the UCLA culture. What do you guys think we can expect? Bruin fans I talk to are ecstatic, they think he makes us a perennial top ten team that regularly competes for the playoffs. Is that realistic?

Seems pretty obvious that Nebraska fired Riley now because they want to make a move on Frost before Florida can nab him. ESPN says Frost will have a hard time turning down Tom Osborne...but Florida is a better job, isnt it?

Sure but its hard to turn down your alma mater when they come calling.

Perennial? Nah. Great hire though.

Perennially compete for Pac12 South title, win Pac 12 once in a while, compete for playoff a time or two while he is there would be my guess.  Makes the conference MUCH more interesting and exciting.

I think it’s a home run and actually shifts the tide from USC to UCLA for the first time in forever.  There’s no doubt that he’s going to start winning 9 games or more every season immediately.

I expect a Harbaugh-like bump. Michigan is now a perennial 8-10 win team and may win the conference or a title if the stars align, but the name is greater than the product on the field. I think Kelly does better than Mora, but I don’t think he’s as outstanding as others.

The thing that pleases me is seeing all of the Southern Cal fans pissed off though. Works for me that it pisses them off even if it doesn’t materialize.

I think in a college setting, the name merits the reputation. He didn’t do much in the nfl, but I think he’s made for college.

Not sure I would agree on the job scenario. Yes whoever takes the UF job walks into more talent but you’re also competing with a reviving Miami for kids and you may win the SEC East, esp if UGA is just having a flukey season, but the SEC West isn’t going anywhere.

Nebraska has been a shell of itself. It also plays in a very winnable Big Ten West. Frost is also from Nebraska. Moving from Orlando to one of the smaller college towns, one being “going home” not only to a likely easier turn around job and being seen as the prodigal son just seems like the right aligning of stars.

Not disagreeing there, but how many names have translated in college from one school to another? It’s much more common that a coach catches lightning in a bottle for the current school rather than finding it twice (yes I know Meyer and Saban).

Would folks say Harbaugh has translated to an A+ hire yet? I think even UM fans would say the name has stabilized them but he’s behind their expectations going in.
