2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

@jtannenwald: I still can't process watching the Rose Bowl without hearing Brent Musburger's "You are looking live" invocation.

I know the BIG is the be all end all, but I can't shake this feeling that this will be the peak of Scott Frost's coaching career. Congrats on the promotion, I guess.

I know the BIG West has loads of potential, but still, how you get top football recruits to spend 3 years in Iowa, Nebraska, Minn, and Illinois, I have no idea.

Very stupid of him to leave UCF, had a better chance of getting  in the championship  game at UCF.

This x100

@ToddFuhrman: Do I think UCF is one of the nation's four best teams? No

Do I think the system's broken if an undefeated team doesn't even get a chance to compete for a title? You bet your ###
This is really the point many of us have been making in here the last few years. 8 teams with a way for a G5 to get in.

:lmao:  anybody saying this team is better than Bama :lmao:

I'm out for a while

Fine. Prove it on the field then.

UCF finished without a loss and beat a team Bama couldn’t.  Meanwhile the vaunted SEC just scraped up its second bowl win with a collapse by a MICH team that was the 6th best team at best in the Big 10.

The system is clearly broken and is erring badly in favor of SEC and ACC teams.  No surprise there, but it sickens the rest of the college football world.

Wait, what?  Five years ago many here thought the ACC was going to become a G5 league.  What is erroring in favor of the ACC?

And UCF is impressive.  No doubt.  But they went 13-0 with a win over Auburn and two over Memphis.  Stop acting like this team would hold up to an SEC, ACC, Big 12, or Big Ten schedule week in and week out.  A lot of people would love a larger playoff system but in this system they were not one of the four best teams.

Miami never had any business ever being ranked 2.  And Clemson lost to freakin Syracuse for Pete’s sake.  Yet up to the last couple of weeks there was a real possibility that both would be in the playoffs.

Yes, the ACC is overrated by the process.

Fine.  Then let it be proven on the field.  Why in the Seven Hells is there resistance to that?

I probably haven't expressed it before, but I'm pretty high on Frost as a coach. And I don't believe that you can't get kids to go to Lincoln.
To top it off, he's already reeled in his #1 QB target for the class (QB coach called the recruit up to offer about 5 minutes after Frost told the team he was going to Nebraska). If Frost and the QB coach turned 2* 5'11 165lb Mackenzie Milton into a star, can't wait to see what they do with Adrian Martinez.

Michigan was 7th at best in the B1G. OSU, Wisc, PSU, MSU, NW, and Iowa are all better than them.

Like Michigan, Iowa finished 8-5, but Iowa beat 12-2 Ohio State, 8-5 Iowa State, 8-5 Wyoming, and 7-6 Boston College.  Michigan's only win against a winning team this year was against 7-6 Purdue.

It was really stupid of the Outback bowl to take Michigan ahead of MSU and NW. It gave the SEC a cheap win.

Miami was 10-0 coming off wins against VT and Notre Dame.  Should they have been 2 or 3 or 4 at that point?  Who the hell cares?  Pitt and Clemson took care of them and then Wisconsin in the bowl game.

Clemson beat 9 bowl teams I think.  Are you really claiming they are over-ranked because of their conference?

Oklahoma doesn't play defense.  Their defenders are backup offensive players.   I think M. Stoops just got another raise.

I'm a little late to the party, but did anyone see that play on Auburn's final drive where the UCF cornerback threw the wide receiver down the clearly overthrown pass? I was rooting for UCF all the way, but how was that not a penalty?

Yep.  UCF wouldn’t have lost to that juggernaut Syracuse - even on their worst day.  ND was shown to be overated also - again, no surprise there.
