2017 College Football Thread: Hawaiian QB devastated to find out Jesus was "kinda rooting for Georgia" (1 Viewer)

Miami was 10-0 coming off wins against VT and Notre Dame.  Should they have been 2 or 3 or 4 at that point?  Who the hell cares?  Pitt and Clemson took care of them and then Wisconsin in the bowl game.

Clemson beat 9 bowl teams I think.  Are you really claiming they are over-ranked because of their conference?
Miami was 10-0 because they played in the weak division of the ACC, and didn't have to play the best 5 teams from the strong division. Notre Dame was way over-ranked at the time (#3 or something ridiculous like that), so by beating them they too got way over-ranked.

Clemson on the other hand had one hell of a schedule, and deserved to be #1.

The point is the rankings get it wrong just as much as they get it right. Determining who the top 4 are on paper isn't much better than determining who the top 1 or top 2 is on paper, if it's any better at all.

It's time to stop leaving it to the ranking and bowl system. We need a real playoff. One big enough that UCF, Boise State, Utah, etc, etc... get invited too when they have awesome seasons.

Every level of football does this (high school, NFL, the rest of college football), except the highest level of college football. It's stupid to not have a playoff.

No one is arguing any of that.  At the time Miami and ND were ranked where they were it wasn't unreasonable.  And no one had a problem with how they ended up being ranked after all the games were played.

You'll get no arguments from me on the P5 champions being included in a playoff.  I said that weeks ago here.  But it's still stupid he said this system favors the SEC and ACC.  And UCF still wasn't a top four team in this system.

Anyone checking out the other ESPN channels?

The coaches room on espnews should be great but it's freaking terrible

We’ll se what kind of big game coach Kirby is at this point in his career...can’t panick and abandon the run.

Who do they have? I’ve enjoyed this concept in the past but if it’s bad it’s really bad.
On ESPNEWS, the Coaches Film Room will be shown. It is the first time that it will be broadcast during the CFP semifinal games. Coaches Dino Babers (Syracuse), Bret Bielema, Larry Fedora (North Carolina), Dana Holgorsen (West Virginia), Matt Luke (Ole Miss) and Gary Patterson (TCU) are among the participating coaches who will break down the game.

The Finebaum Film Room (SEC Network) will include host Paul Finebaum and analysts Gene Chizik, Greg McElroy, Booger McFarland, Jesse Palmer, Marcus Spears, and Tim Tebow. They will give their thoughts as well as take phone calls from fans.

Haven't checked out SEC Network yet but they are all just talking over one another.

I watched ESPN News for a few minutes and it was all Patterson and Bert with a little Holgorson.  Applewhite and Babers never said a word.
