Is everyone basically off the JAX Defense train now? I know they got a tough matchup this week, but they seem to find ways to get fantasy points somehow.

I'm starting. Mainly because I don't want to drop and I don't have roster space to add another D. With someone scooping BUF this morning, the options are pretty dry anyways.

Have a bid in for Cleveland.  I think this is the week they win a low scoring contest and Jets hold tie breaker for draft should they finish with same record.

Im starting them. Pitt has been nothing special offensively. I know home they are a different story.

Everybody saying Philly and that they have a great front 7, but they haven't really looked that great in the last 3 games.  Sack numbers: 4-0-2.  This past week they were supposed to roll against Rivers but didn't turn out that way.  Arizona protection for Carson is an issue.  But he can still light em up by getting quick passes out.

I like both sides of Buffalo and Cincy.  Buffalo with great pass D allowing very few points.  Cincy respectable start, Burfict is back, and Buffalo offense not exactly a juggernaut.

Oakland D against Baltimore seems like a trap.  They're not that great defensively, and I can see Baltimore trying to run and wear them down.  Maybe you can count on an Alex Collins fumble.

Jets D is probably widely available as well against Cleveland and Kizer, but do you really want to rely on Jets D?

They're a good real-life defense with a great schedule.

18 sacks in 4 games. That's a nice floor to have.

Jets have tie breaker?  Already?

I know they've flopped the last two weeks, but what about the Ravens D at Oakland against EJ Manuel, a banged up Crabtree, an ineffective backfield, and who knows what is going on with Cooper?

BUF is the top play this week IMO
CIN hasn't been giving up points to defenses since Lazor took over as OC.

Although I do concede BUF is leagues better than GB/CLE on defense. Still as road dogs this spot scares me.

Sticking with Baltimore and Pittsburgh in 2 leagues.

Pitt is a no brainer at this point.

This is Baltimore's Last Chance with me. If they d don't score decent against ej Manuel I'm out.
BAL scares me because their offense can't sustain drives. I have a sneaking suspicion BALs success is going to be tied to how well Collins can run (and hold onto the ball) on Sunday. I'll probably have some Collins/BAL stacks in DFS for ####s.

They get Garrett back this week, I wonder how much of a bump they get now.

Minny was available in my league vs. Chicago. Rookie QB with weak receiving options making a first start on MNF. What's not to love here?

Also, I'll probably keep with this:

GB

Bal

@ Cle

@ Wash

I am really nervous about Philly. Everything I see for myself and read seems to point to PHI being able to take care of ARI on the road, but ARI, despite their record, can come and play ball on both sides of the ball. At this point in my league, it's the only option for me, but not comfortable with it. Call it a gut feel, for whatever it's worth.

BUF if you have them seems like the play -- game may be close but BUF has a solid floor and a hot hand.

MIN not available in my league, but that's where I'd be leaning next for potential Ds on the wire. Bears can play tough, and sometimes a rookie's starting game flips the script and he performs really well. But MIN has a solid D and the game script favors them.

I like the CIN call, too, I can see this being more of a defensive game.

For me, OAK is available and I'm thinking hard about that too. OAK D has actually been playing middling -- they have allowed some chunks of yards, but have for the most part been playing bend-not-break -- it's really the OAK offense that is much more of a source of woe and causing their record so far, not their D.

HOU is coming off a huge performance fantasy-D-wise -- KC can put points on the board but are traveling on a short week. Am I crazy to think HOU can ride a hot hand into this game? I think I just might be.....

Philly has gotten worse every game. I chose Detroit over them, Buffalo and Oakland.

They are def going to give up points and big plays.  But you will get sacks and turnovers.  The positives out weigh the negatives imo

Someone with injury issues dropped the Broncos Def.  They are currently 9th in my league scoring, any thoughts on if I should jump on them?  Currently have Jax and Balt Ds.

Not for me. I get sacks and turnovers, but my D also get points and yards against in my league. I have Philly, but I think Carson will be able to score and put up a lot of yards against them. I think I'll play the Bengals. I'll decide Sunday.

Carson is always good for a pick 6.

Went with Buffalo but I'm tempted to be a homer and grab Philly. Staying away though cause Philly Arizona games are always weird.

Good call, even if he is almost categorized as a fossil, Palmer will probably throw for 400 yards and 3 TDs.

Rolling with Steelers, was able to get them in Free Add/Drops.

Actually just realized I grabbed the Jets. Lol. So I said F it and went Eagles. At least I'll be rooting extra hard Sunday.

CHI Defense vs MIN?  (At home)

Seems like Chicago’s been pretty decent against some very difficult offenses.  Now they play at home against a banged up Viking offense

Any thoughts?

If Bradford is still out, and I think he is, why the hell not?  Murray is garbage and I think Zimmer is too stupid to play McKinnon (the much better back).

Ya'll like the Steelers and Jags better than the Ravens ROS?

I have the former two but thinking of dropping one for the latter.

Are Ravens just so injured on D to not be great anymore?

Not sure of the love for Baltimore traveling across the country to play Oakland, even with EJ at the helm.

The Ravens offense is so pitiful that I think the Raiders are an excellent play this week.

What do you lot make of DETROIT.....?

Last week I acquired them in 3 of 4 leagues, because of what they have been putting up. (Essentially, they have put up double digit points every week so far) In our leagues, they have put up  16.00, 17.00, 13.00, 12.00 the first four weeks.

Now while these aren't the flashy old "Denver explosions" , there is something to be said for consistency and having that double digit output every week.

Remember, the ultimate goal is to find a dependable plug and play, and this just may be the one.  (I am sure in many of your leagues they are long gone now though)

Somewhere deep in my head, I still want to "semi-stream" or maybe just pull DETROIT out in their toughest weeks, but these four consecutive weeks are hard to ignore.  Thats roughly 1/4th of the entire fantasy season, IF you make the playoffs.

I like the idea of PITT @ home vs. JAX , but its hard to get off this train.

Any DETROIT owners confidently holding and looking onward?

TL; DR - start ‘em this week, hold for the 2nd half of the FF season

I can speak more about their RL defense & you can draw your own conclusions.

D-Line - They lost two guys from the rotation to injury this summer & another to suspension, which opened the door for 2nd year LDE Anthony Zettel. He has taken a huge step forward recording 4 sacks & a fumble revovery. Great motor, good athlete - was the state champ in shot put AND Ran on the 4x100 team (11.55.) Ziggy Ansah is not quite 100% but he had 3 sacks v. the Giants. Inside, Haloti Ngata is still a solid run stuffer, and A’Shawn Robinson is a riser - he will be Pro Bowler, gets a great push. Amonty Bryant has 8.5 sacks in his last 19G; coming off his third suspension, it’s not clear if they will activate him this week. Pretty steep drop off from there, reason to be concerned if anyone gets hurt.

LBs - last year this group managed to go 16 games without recording a single sack, interception, or forced fumble. Tahir Whitehead was one of the worst cover LB, something 73rd out of 76 players PFF graded. This year he moved from MLB back to Weak Side, and he leads the team in tackles, has an interception, and two fumble recoveries. PFF has him as the 6th best LB in the NFL in 2017. Paul Worrilow was signed from ATL but is out a few weeks with a sprained MCL. Rookie Reeves-Maybin is not good in coverage but they’re forced to start him. #1 pick Jarrad Davis played well his first two weeks, has explosive quickness, and calls the defensive signals. They hoping he’ll be back Sunday after missing two games (concussion.) This Group is the weak link ATM.

DBs - Darrius Slay plays on the outside (but not the slot) & takes the best WR. He’s a top 5 corner with great speed. Nevin Lawson & DJ Hayden split time at the other CB (both are average.) Quandre Diggs is back to playing at a high level as the slot corner, one of the best in the league. But the strength of the team is their safeties. Glover Quinn is a premier Free Safety, calls the coverages (film room rat), has the 2nd most interceptions behind Richard Sherman since 2013. He has a pick 6 this year & sealed the Vikings game last week with a strip fumble. SS Tavon Wilson is competent, but the rising star is Miles Killibrew. He doesn’t start but sees 70-80% of the snaps on the regular, often as a LB in dime packages. He has a pick 6 and every week makes impactful plays. Hardest hitter in the group.

They do not blitz much, relying on stunts, twists, & mixed up fronts to generate pressure. They run a lot of cover four so they are prone to give up yardage underneath. Turnovers are a point of emphasis. They are playing as a highly confident group & they’re a tight knit unit off the field. Their effectiveness takes a lot of pressure off Stafford & the offense. Detroit is commited to running the ball, they excel in every phase of special teams, and are not intimidated by any offense they have faced so far.

The next five weeks (CAR, @NO, bye, PIT, @GB) will tell us a lot about how good they are. Thereafter they have some juicy FF DT matchups. I’m playing them this week (& last week), but holding PHI as a filler as their schedule is better short term. My intent is to def start them from Week 10 onward.

Feels weird not contributing here regularly but I took the Steelers based on the quality of their early season schedule and I am going to have to ride this until it fails.

SoS can be pyrite. TEN has a dreamy DT schedule, but it they’re just a lousy defense. Decent front 7 IRL but all but worthless in FF.

Starting to have doubts about holding the Eagles. The Bills cleared waivers this week but I snoozed.

Anyone still believe in Ravens D?

The have a solid schedule coming up and one would think they'd figure it out and iron out the kinks on offense.

@Oak

Chi

@Min

Mia

@Ten

BYE

And they get Cle and Ind the last two weeks for playoffs.

Anyone still believe? Can't bring myself to drop Pitt or Jax for them but I sooooo want them.
