2017 Streaming Defenses (1 Viewer)

This is pretty much a blah weekend of matchups on paper. GB ended up pretty good on TNF, after that it's CIN,then  not so sure. And that CLE game even feels iffy to me, it's in CLE and the Browns need that game as badly as the Bengals. I'm watching Carolina as a matchup looking forward. Newton did not look good against the Saints, I don't know how a QB reaches a point where he gives up 4 sacks and 3 picks to the Saints but that was Newt last week. If they dive again vs the Pats, it's worth noting for future reference. The Panthers are very lucky Benjamin is coming back, that  helps them a lot.
Pats are going to eat Newton alive, even in their weakened state on def

The Panthers center Ryan Kalil is still out with a neck injury, and that has hurt. Kalil's brother, Matt, has not done well as a new edition to the OL.

No one talking about the Steelers D or is that because they are no longer considered a streamer?

Flacco has really struggled, and with T.J. Watt/Tuitt returning, they should perform well this week.

Steelers def was drafted and is owned in every league I'm in

Grabbed Tampa vs NYG but I'm getting cold feet now with all the injuries. Might scoop up Philly vs LAC who also has a nice stretch of games after that too.

I am playing the Bucs D this week (instead of the Steelers). Although I am 0-3 so you probably should be fading anything I do.

But after reading the comments above, I am already having second thoughts and thinking of playing the Steelers D. Oh the pain, the pain....

Wasn't planning on streaming this year but, it now looks like I have to for a few weeks. Just dropped the Panthers for the Bengals this morning. :fingerscrossed:

Blooms rent a defense article this week had 5 candidates & 3 preemptive pickups, 7 of which are owned in my 18x12 league (OAK the lone exception.)
For some reason this year most teams in my leagues are carrying 2 def.  I don't ever do that but I guess it's becoming a thing

Yeah, I was shocked to see there are 20 DTs rostered, the norm is 14-16. I'm carrying DET & PHI as a committee myself, feel like the last couple years streaming hasn't worked as well.

Saints with 13 PA, 7 sacks and 4 INT the last two weeks

1% owned

Soon as they start trending I'm sure they're revert to historical form

:P

Who's everyone got for this week? I picked up Detroit in one league (No. 1 defense so far). In the other, I currently have LAR (vs Seattle) and Cinci (vs Buffalo). The thing is, Buffalo is on the wire, and I think it may make sense to flip those. Cinci has a good D and is at home, but this is one of those situations where you just go with the better team.

Other options are Philly (decent matchup, but have underperformed since Week 1), and a bunch of toilet bowl games where I don't want to bet on bad teams (Jets @ CLE, NYG vs LAC) or good Ds with bad match-ups (Houston vs KC).

I played Minny last week over the hot WW adds because of their upcoming schedule. It ended up costing me a win lol but Im sticking with them vs Trubisky. After that they have GB but then they have BAL & CLE.

Got Vikings against Chicago this week, gonna try and grab Houston a week early as they get the Browns next.

Texans D has been great since week 1, and they have a bunch of great matchups the rest of the way: Browns, Colts, Cardinals, Ravens, SF, Jax

:goodposting:  Wondering if it might be a good idea to roll with LAR this week despite the less-than-optimal matchup and try to grab Houston for the out weeks.

One caveat, though: After Cleveland, their medium-term schedule isn't great: bye, @Sea,  Indy (probably with Luck back), @LAR (suddenly a minus matchup). But from Week 11 on there's pretty much nothing scary: ARI, @Bal, @Tenn, SF, @Jax, Pitt (crucially, at home)

I am technically off Streaming & doing a DET/PHI committee but the Bills are on my WW as well.  It would take a little bit of WW juggling but I could see using all 3 (rostering 2) ROS. I woke up early & played around with this on notepad:

sorry if this is hard to follow...

PHI (1st column) DET (middle) BUF (right)

drop DET pickup BUF (after CAR the Lions have Saints/ bye / Steelers / Pack, e.g. you’ll probably get them back.)

WK 5 ARI green CAR green @CIN GREEN BUF

WK 6 @CAR GREEN @NO red bye PHI

WK 7 WAS yellow bye TB red PHI

WK 8 SF yellow PIT red Oak yellow PHI

drop PHI pickup DET (will anybody pick up Eagles before DEN game? likely no)

WK 9 DEN red @GB green @NYJ GREEN BUF

drop BUF pickup PHI (4 Red matchups for Bills Wks 10-13)

WK 10 bye CLE GREEN NO red DET

WK 11 @DAL yellow @ CHI GREEN @LAC red DET

WK 12 CHI GREEN MIN red @KC red PHI

drop PHI pickup BUF (week early)

WK 13 @SEA yellow @BAL yellow NE red DET

WK 14 @LAR red @TB red Ind GREEN BUF

WK 15 @NYG green CHI GREEN Mia green DET

WK 16 @OAK red @CIN GREEN @NE red DET

Hope that made sense; it’s the opponents for PHI - DET - BUF & then the projected play on the far right. The green/yellow/red is current FFPA to DT. Usual caveats about small sample size & things change fast in the NFL.

Back to the Streaming discussion!

Jax owners, are you rolling them out @ Pitt?
I am, mainly b/c I don't want to drop them.  I also have Balt, but need to drop one of the two in order to cover bye weeks.  Short bench (3 open spots) makes it hard to stockpile.

I have Jax and Pitt.

Going Pitt this week.

Then either taking a chance on Jax @LAR or dropping them for someone else next week.

Might try dropping them for Bills who look pretty locked-in on D.

Honestly don't understand why anyone is keeping Jax. They have two tough matchups (including two of the top RBs in football taking on their shaky run D), then play Indy (possibly with Luck back) and then go on bye. They've been good so far, but definitely not "stash them for the whole year" good. I streamed them last week in a 14-teamer and then sent them to the wire. And when I saw my opponent for next week had picked them up I was happy, because I don't see them shutting down Pitt on the road.

2.50, 15.25, 7, 24.75 in my league's scoring. Really inconsistent, so hard to rely on them, but definitely a consideration, especially playing them for matchup.

Streamed CIN last week and no one available is jumping off the page enough for me to use my last WW move of the week, so thinking I'm gonna roll with them at home v Bills.

TENN obviously got rolled last week, but still having a hard time getting off them with Miami, Indy and Cleveland now.

Ravens with OAK and CHI are tempting.

I grabbed Balt this morning BC facing ej Manuel is so tempting.  But man that defense is so incredibly banged up.  They can't get any pressure on the qb RT now.  And oak has a pretty decent o line.  So I dropped them and picked up the bills, who seem like a defense to keep all season.

The first 3 weeks you could say they faced weak competition and that's the reason for the top end performance.  But last week they put a beat down on Atlanta, a high powered offense.

This week they play Cincy and although Cincy offense has looked better under lazor, they still have one of the worst o lines in the league.  I think the bills are gonna get pressure on dalton and force some big mistakes.

So I dropped Balt d for bills.  RT now I have bills and jax d and I'm contemplating rolling with those 2 rest of the season unless they get injured or start sucking.

Opted to go with Buff this week instead of Jax.  Some interesting comments/conversations in this thread that has me re-thinking my Def strategy each week - but at least it's paying off!

FBG really like Oakland this week, but I’m unsure they can be trusted after watching the last two games.
I dunno, Oakland held Denver to 16 points in Denver.  Hosting possibly the worst offense in the league this week will be much easier than that.

Picked up JAX d last week to add to AZ d, dropped AZ d this week for the Bills d, and contemplating rolling with JAX/BUF ROS as well.

Sticking with Baltimore and Pittsburgh in 2 leagues.

Pitt is a no brainer at this point.

This is Baltimore's last chance with me.  If they d don't score decent against ej Manuel I'm out.
