2017 Streaming Defenses (1 Viewer)

Copy this here, I posted it in waiver wire thread -

Cleveland Defense

Getting Garrett back, next 4 weeks:

Indy, Cincy, NYJ, Houston.   :excited:
Hard to trust CLE, but they do have some talent on the D, and that is too juicy of a stretch to pass up. I have MIA locked an loaded, but for some reason this smells like a trap game to me -- division game on the road. May keep them in there and release HOU to the wire later in the week for CLE, so I don't have to burn a waiver claim on them after the weekend.

Running with Miami this week, and likely holding them through Week 7 to pair with HOU. Miami faces the Jets on the road this week (a much better option than HOU @ NE, and they play the Jets again at home during HOU's bye week.

Combined schedule ain't terrific for Weeks 4 and 5, but some solid matchups the other 3 weeks.

@ NYJ (MIA)

vs TEN (HOU) or vs NO (MIA)

vs KC (HOU) or vs TEN (MIA)

vs CLE (HOU)

NYJ (MIA)
I don't think Miami D is anything special.  Sure, play them against the Jets this week.  But I don't know if I'd want to be using them as an every week or almost every week play.

Missed out on Miami but grabbed Philly instead. Was debating between them and GB but the Packers haven't been great so far and for some stupid reason, I think Cincy is due for a little bit of a renaissance with their new OC this week.
Philly applies a lot of pressure.  And Giants and Eli are a mess.  Eli always good for a turnover or two it seems.

I'm rolling with Philly this week.  I think there's a ton of upside, and wouldn't be shocked to see them match their sack total through the first 2 games(8) in this one.

Philly seems like a really good bet to me, where I could.  I can't bring myself to go with Indy or Cleveland, those teams are just not well coached and I wouldn't be shocked if there were 60 points scored at Lucas Oil on Sunday.  Miami on the road in NYJ.... seen the Dolphins get thumped by the Jets waaaay too many times in my life to want to go that way.

Thinking about taking Buffalo over Tampa Bay, they showed up last week in Carolina and I think the Broncos and Siemian might look a little different playing away from home.  If Keenum goes again, Tampa is the choice but I do think I like the Bills to circle the wagons this weekend at home.

i have green bay lined up to stream weeks 3 and 4 vs cincinatti and then chicago both at lambeau - but they have some injuries that are concerning (perry and daniels).

however tennessee and cleveland are also sitting on the wire as well as carolina.  does anyone think they might be better streams for the next two weeks with an emphasis on this week?

tennessee has seattle and @houston coming up

cleveland has @indy and cincinnati

carolina vs NO - im interested in this one as carolina is proving to be a pretty damn good defense and new orleans just aren't what they use to be especially on the road.

Thinking of dropping streaming to form a DTBC - Eagles + XXX ???

BUF - CLE - DAL - DET - MIA - OAK - TB - TEN

Like the Lions & Raiders best of the WW choices, have to look at the schedules tonight.

Anybody else thinking committee or sticking with streaming? I tried the Jets opp (BUF, OAK) first 2 weeks, didn’t hurt me. Chose Giants opp over NYJ opp this week.

It is getting harder to stream.  Well at least in our league, which is a 16-team league made up of FBGers.  The teams that have the good matchups for a given week all get scooped up in the waiver process.

Hmmmmm......Vikings and Bucs were dropped in my league this week. Bucs would be a slam-dunk if Bradford sits, but I think he plays.

Hard to tell with the Vikings defense because they've had terrible matchups so far, but they are playing at home.

I don't think the Vikings should be on the waiver wire.  Nice schedule the next six weeks too.
Thanks, I agree.

Grabbed the Jags this week as well, just mapped out a Vikings/Jags rest of season and it looks pretty great:

Jets, Bears, Rams, Colts, Browns, Bungles, Redskins, Browns, Cards, Colts, Seahawks, Houston (15), San Fran (16)

The Jags have those playoff matchups against Houston and SF, something to consider.

Have Patriots in just now but they are full of injuries.

Bradford has been ruled out, go with Tampa ?

Tampa and Philly seem like good shouts this week.

I'm rolling Philly over Miami due to them being at home.

As im typing this, wondering how Philly is available as they've scored 26 points in 2 weeks.

Thanks 10 second weekly primer!

I'd run to get the Bucs now, especially with Bradford out.  But not only for this week, but for the season.  I think they are legit and could be an every week play.

separate topic - I'm always surprised that at least half my league doesn't stream defenses.  Lots of guys willing to trot out "good" defenses even in the face of difficult matchups against explosive offenses.  Anybody else have this in their league as well?

Agree with recent posts, like the Bucs a lot this week going against Keenum, plus they get the Giants and the Eli-running-for-his-life-crapshow next week at home too.

I am honestly thinking of dumping Houston for other streaming offenses going forward. Curious as to why you think they are good to hold in a DTBC?
I drafted Houston and were projected to be a top D. I'm not gonna dump them already. Will see how it goes. I have the bench space

Exact same boat, I projected them to be Top 5 easily. But going forward, can't see how that's possible. Not sure if you sub to FBG but they seem to concur -- they are in the bottom 2/3rds of the league in Top 200 going forward.

If you have the space, that's one thing, but seems to me that they are going to be hard to trust given what they've shown so far, and that it's going to be a much longer year for them than intended.

Don't have a backup qb at the moment. When it comes closer to bye, I'll drop one

Week 4 issue... I saw a guy drop Cincy and ATL is in the FA pool.

Week 4:

CIN @ CLE

ATL vs BUF

Which do I grab?
ATL is apparently PI$$ POOR against pass catching running backs.

Ever heard of LeSean McCoy?   :D

Go Cinci here, even though you may feel dirty about it. The potential to pick off Kizer multiple times is in play, even if we don't "like it".

I caution anyone who is contemplating dropping the LA RAMS .   They have had 4 sacks in 2 of 3 games and also had 3 picks and 2 fumble recoveries to boot.

Although you might have to cut them loose at some point, it might be a bit early to can them just yet.

So who we got this week?

Jax seems like the obvious pick against the Jets but they could be due for anlet down. So who knows.

Anyone holding Baltimore after that disaster? Are we thinking London game or they are not who we thought they were? At home vs Steelers (ben sucks on the road/divisional game)

I'd be surprised if Jax is on the WW.

I'm chewing on.

Cincy at Cleveland

GB home for Chicago

Chargers play Phil then NYG.

Tenn at Houston.

Ravens cost me in one league, losing by 3 points. Will most likely hold for now.

Was interested in picking up Tampa going forward but that seems like a bad idea now.

Think Jax is probably the play this week, still on wires because of a bad week 2, Jets might have a better O than expected but still.

Cincy could be a shout

Note, not a criticism, but I can't take it anymore. Two lousy weeks. I tried to evaluate the Rams like any player position and I I love the line and the DBs and especially Wade Phillips as D.C... and it just hasn't worked. Maybe it's their LBs, I don't know, but I'm moving on.

Not a lot looks appetizing after a week where Chi, Cle, Indy, Jets, and Giants all scored over 20, and a lot of sure holds did average to negative.

Jax, perhaps. Cincy probably. Tampa looks juicy (vs NYG), but can you trust them? Similar with the Titans (@ Hou). At some point you have to look at Detroit's #1 D/ST spot and low ownership (18% ESPN, 11% Yahoo) and decide which is closer to the truth. Not that Minn looks that appetizing after rolling over Tampa, but food for thought.

I own the Rams in two leagues. In one, I had the bench spot and Jax was available. In the other, waivers going through tomorrow and still not sure what I'll do. Could put in a claim for Cinci, but I have a terrible WW priority, so I may just need to roll with the Rams. I really don't want to drop them yet -- just a feeling that they'll round into form. But if they put up another stinker I'll probably need to cut bait.

Also worth noting: After a somewhat negative match-up this week, things lighten up over the next month: Seahawks, @Jags, Cards, bye, @NYG, Texans. A bunch of terrible offensive lines, and no QBs who really scare you too much.

Of course, SF looked like a good match-up, too. What I would say is that if they're at least good enough to capitalize on bad matchups, they should be a decent hold. After that, matchups ROS are neutral/negative: @Vikings, Saints, @Cards, Eagles @Sea, @Titans. So that's the point where, if they haven't really turned it on, you cut bait.

I am really debating whether Detroit is indeed for real this year, and can be good streamers. I won't take that chance this week against Minny, but it's a good litmus test for how this squad could figure more into the discussion in this thread here.

Based on what's on my wire, settling on either Cincy on the road against CLE, or DAL playing at home again (where they looked great against the Cards) against the Rams.

Last gasp desperation if waiver claims for those two don't come through would be the Bucs, who I simply can't trust to produce, against a Giant offense who I know for sure can't be trusted to produce.

Burfict should be back this week too, shoring up that Cincy D. No indication on how much he'll play, if they'll ease him in, but that's a piece of the puzzle on D for Cincy that may make them more appetizing for streaming purposes.

Great point. I was more gun-shy about Cincy prior to their weekend game, but they look like they are trying to turn a corner on both sides of the ball, and while CLE can play any given Sunday, they look like a good matchup for Cincy to continue their trajectory from last week.

Seems debateable:

http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/249951/despite-numbers-against-atlanta-detroits-defense-might-be-legitimately-good

Dropping the Eagles for Lions & starting them this weekend (presuming Jarrad Davis is out of the protocol.)

Good front four that gets pressure without blitzing too much, excellent rookie MLB, solid defensive backfield. Ansah, Zettel, JD, Quinn, and Slay are making plays.

Lousy LBs outside of the signal caller, little thin on the D-line (suspensions & injuries wiped out 2-3 rotation guys this summer), but overall I love the way they are attacking the ball and making big plays.

I don't see Cinci being a good pickup.  Seems like recent memory has Cle and Cinci being a shootout.
Cincy held the Browns to 17 points in Week 7 last year, with 2 INTs and 2 sacks

Held them to 10 points in Week 14, with 1 INT and 4 sacks.

It's almost an exercise in futility to try and apply those games to this year and expect any degree of correlation, especially with how different the Cleveland offense, but it was hardly a shootout in either of their games last year. Not all star streaming quality, but nothing that will sink you either.

How do y'all feel about the Jags ROS. Top 200 has them as the #1 DST?

They are free in all my leagues after the week 2 thrashing. I'd have to drop the Ravens to get them in one though.

They have an amazing schedule and great players on defense. Only thing that will hurt them is games where bortles keeps going three and out
