2017 Survivor Thread (1 Viewer)

I looked into that, last time they played was over four years ago.
I am fairly confident GB will win but so many factors going into this game. injuries, new oc, etc.

not liking Denver a whole lot more, but I find it hard to believe Denver has a week like last week then turns around and lays an egg with Buffalo

more GB injury news, likely without both tackles again, Perry is out, Daniels and Cobb unlikely- but that's all gametime decision. just going off what I'm hearing, which isn't much different than the injury report... but what I'm hearing is that it's unlikely at this point given where they all are

Really? any reason in particular?
Many. Not official but very likely no Perry, no Daniels, no Bulaga, no Bahktiari. no Cobb. no Ryan. no House. no Brice. All questionable. Nelson is hurt too but expected to play

Quite possibly 30% of green bays starters may not be playing.

furthermore CIN has a new OC and this is a MUST WIN game for them... you can't start 0-3 and expect to make the playoffs. their backs are against the wall

GB should win and this should be a gimmie but lots to not like about this game. at least at 11:56 central time when I need to make my survivor pick for the week

double elimination for me, so I have some kind of cushion...

thanks to you Denver doubters, changed my pick to NE last minute and survived! wow, what a "survive" that game was... i dunno what's happening in this league when NE at home against Houston, GB at home against Cincy, and Denver at Buffalo aren't sure picks. On to week 4!

Whew, what a ROLLERCOASTER of a day!  :loco:

As I write this, Rodgers has just thrown a Pick6 to go down 21-7 to the Bengals. At the last minute I switched my pick from GB to Philly.I hadn't even thought of them much or seen them mentioned much. But the way the Eagles have been playing, the amount of weapons they've assembled... combined with how absolute RUBBISH the Gints have looked, the Home cooking... it seemed like a good contrarian call in a murky week.

(after I had been searching for news that Janoris Jenkins would be out, but pulled the trigger on it anyway, listed as Questionable).

While watching a few games, I shouted when that 61-yarder snuck over the bar! Then my heart sank as the Texans SOMEHOW, left Cooks open in the end zone (that was 25% of my Pool surviving by their collective butthairs)

So far, a healthy 29% of my pool is gone today (Pitt/Den/Clev/Mia) and I'm suddenly a Bungles fan!

Anyone else have good stories? I will definitely try to be active on this thread going forward (and you gotta love the Eagles going forward if you burned NE today)

So glad I switched to NE at the last minute. Didn't feel good about BAL, DEN, or GB. Going with my gut paid off for once

Re the Eagles going forward, they have a lot of injuries on defense right now so be mindful of that. They host SF in a few weeks and that is probably the best time to use them.

A handful of plays away from NE, GB, and PHI losing and our pool of 100 people being over after week 3... with the winner having picked the Rams.

Buried on page 5.  Guess not as many people did the 'last minute switch' as I read here on Sunday.   :P

Seattle is gonna be a big one this week, and they should be.  Colts suck, but Brissett makes them dangerous and sucky.  Still, I cannot make an argument that the Colts will win.  Maybe SEA O-line allows big defensive plays, and COlts steal one.  I guess.

ATL over BUF will be popular, but I don't think it should be.

Not going near AZ/SF

I went with GB over Denver at the last minute and somehow am alive for another week.
Did the same, switching out the Dolphins for the Packers.

Had GB and NE not pulled their games out, the one I am in would have been over in 3 weeks with no winner.  It's a small pool, but still, that would have been pretty unusual.................

Those are the three games I have my eye on.

Seattle should win, but boy are they overrated. 13 point favorite seems crazy.

Atlanta should roll Buffalo. Home game, coming off a near loss, RBs create a bad matchup against the Bills' D.

I do like AZ, as well. Home game. Coming off a loss. They should bounce back against an inferrior opponent. Divisional game is of course worrisome.

Bills are playing real tough right now and have a good defense.  I'd rather take my chances with Seattle.
Yeah, I just don't see Seattle losing at home against the Colts with Brissett.   They will take Hilton away and there is nobody else who can beat them.  Should be a double digit win at home.

Seattle is a complete no-brainer, and this looks like the easiest game on their schedule this year to boot (can see them besting the Rams once, knocking off the Giants on the road, and likely beating SF later in the year -- but none of these games' outcomes seem as likely as against the Colts this week). So no worries about burning them now.

vs IND

@ LAR

@ NYG

vs HOU

vs WAS

@ ARI

vs ATL

@ SF

vs PHI

@ JAX

@ DAL

pretty much sold on SEA as well.

and also switched last minute from Miami to GB last week...whew

I'm sure some one has probably said this but the way this season is going, and the way the nfl is in general, i literally just go with the biggest favorite this week.  Yes it leads to complications down the road but as the season wears on the games become more obvious.  We lost over 50% of our pool last week because guys were getting too cute

I'm kinda thinking the same way.  I've burned up PIT, OAK, GB, and now SEA and I am all right with it.  The NFL is incredibly unpredictable.  But I think the picture takes shape as the middle of the season arrives.  You can tell a little bit easier who is fighting for the playoff spots and who is fighting for the draft picks.  You're maybe burning up a lot of obvious 2 TD favorites right now but they'll be some teams that will surprise that you can pick against teams like the Jets (but even that isn't a given, thanks Miami).  It's called a Survivor pool for a reason.

I am surprised that it doesnt seem like anyone is taking Green Bay Thursday night hosting Chicago.  Is the reason no one is talking about GB because they have already been used?  What do you guys think of Green Bay this week?  The only other game I am considering is Seattle, but they seem to have some real issues right now.

I have double elimination so now down to my last strike.

Going GB. I don't trust Seattle. IND looks like they have a little bit of life (granted vs CLE but still). I don't see Chicago coming to GB and winning... not after how bad Glennon has looked. GB FTW

Yeah, a good chunk of folks have used GB already. 80 of 300 in my pool used them in week 3.

Interesting. I'm in the exact same boat (first strike on double elimination), and I went with Seattle for the exact same reason. But I think GB is also a solid pick.

I'm likely wrong, because I was so anti GB last week, almost equally anti Seattle this week.

GB has Chicago's number, especially at home.

Seattle likely wins... if they lose the IND they should just give up and try again next year. I just don't feel like I can predict how IND will play... Brissett is the wild card and I don't like wild cards

Yeah, I don't disagree with anything you're saying. There's always risk, and they haven't looked right so far this year. I just don't see them laying an egg in a primetime home game coming off a loss.

FWIW I had SEA penciled in for this week to start the season. I agree completely. I don't see GB being usable ROS, but I do see Seattle a bit more usable

Actually GB is coming off a close win but I'm with you on the Pack tonight.  My only fear is if the Bears can get to Rodgers consistently (2 starting OTs are out) and then can control the clock with Cohen and Howard.

I know you're likely talking about recent history, but I found this stat interesting...

@AdamSchefter  Sep 28

Tonight will be 195th meeting between the Bears and Packers, with series tied 94-94-6 and Green Bay holding a 3,335-3,331 scoring lead.

Yep, and I was hanging on by the seat of my pants last week.  Wouldn't called this a lock for them winning.  Chicago isn't as bad as everyone thought.

Oh, I was referring to Seattle there.
