2018 MLB Regular Season Thread! Current thread batting average: .420 (3 Viewers)

I don't watch much baseball anymore, but I tuned it tonight and am stunned at this gutless performance by the Indians. I guess I shouldn't be since it's Cleveland, but your stud pitcher gags it up and then your lineup has struck out on over half of their outs.  Imagine having paid to go to this game as a Cleveland fan. Ouch.

solid 7 on the hot scale

My daughter watched Gardner's AB And commented that he looks a lot like Tim Hudson.

I raised that girl right.

Thru League Champ:

  • Cubs 1
  • Astros .67
  • Yankees .6
  • Dodgers .5
  • Nats .18
Yankees will grow, so will Astros. LA is all about the WS Champ or bust. Nats are just in a transient town with the Orioles down the road.

Reduce regular season to 154.  Keep die or die WC games.  Every other series should be 9 games.  Play everyday.

Better teams will have better chance to advance.  Tired of this crapshoot.  5-game series is a joke.

talk about one dense mfer.

"Yeah, I mean there's so many frustrating things when you look back at that. Number one, you have a guaranteed contract for hundreds of millions of dollars. Literally, you can sit on the couch and get fat. Right, how stupid can you be? ... This thing cost me over $40 million. And it cost me my reputation, and it may have cost me the Hall of Fame and a number of other things."

The top Google result puts Houston at #8 behind Philly, DFW, SF Bay and DC.

Market boundaries are fuzzy and less meaningful than ever with cable and Internet.   All four are big and the games have been great so far.  MLB will need another excuse when they mess this up somehow.

From a licensed standpoint, this has chance to be the 3rd biggest Postseason behind last year and '04. And retail in general is soft.

Looks like the Tigers are going to hire Ron Gardenhire as their new manager.  I was going to make a joke about Tom Kelly but I looked him up and he's younger than Dusty Baker

Not even sure how good Dodgers Yankees can be.  Houston is in a frenzy now...Cubs are the 500 pound gorilla.  But it feels like both LA/NY fan bases are quietly waiting to explode.

Tigers fans sure seem more excited about this new guy than Brad Ausmus! This is because "Brad Ausmus" isn't an anagram for "Groin Hardener".

Gardy sucks.  Expect many sacrifice bunts and never bringing in a closer unless it's the start of the ninth.  Young players all suck and you'll never shift.  He's basically from the 70s.  And a #### butt.

Dave Righetti, the Giants pitching coach since the Clinton administration is out.  In typical organizational fashion, he was given a front office job instead of his walking papers.  He's the third long-time coach to be let go after the 2017 debacle joining Bam Bam Meulens and bench coach Ron Wotus.

Chris Bosio has been let go by the Cubs. The poor guy could barely walk by the end of the season. I thought he did an excellent job over the years, with Jake Arrieta and Kyle Hendricks being his prize pupils.

Joe is going to bring in his long-time guy Jim Hickey.
