The punt was very nearly blocked....he got clobbered right as he was kicking it, apparently the guy tipped it but the punt got off.  Regardless, the punter basically followed through right into the attempted blocker, kicking leg like snapped in half on the follow-through as he got wrecked.
Below the knee?

Could you hear it crack?

How did the other players react?

we need a cringe reaction emoji

I was watching the game for a bit, glad I turned back to the other game. My son broke his leg in a soccer game several years ago and ever since then I get extremely sick when I see something like that.
I had my ankle demolished playing soccer in high school, had to be aircasted and stretchered off like the punter just did.  I don't wish it on anyone....he's got a long recovery road ahead.

Yeah my son had the ambulance on the field. Surgery the next morning with a rod down his shin.

Brutal.  Tibia/fibia?  Hope he's okay now.

I had the ambulance on the field too, but no surgery.  Technically broke both the tibia and fibia but mostly just shattered the rest of the ankle bone(s).  My foot was basically sticking out from my ankle at like a 45 degree angle.  It was a road game and my parents weren't there, they gave verbal approval to the docs over the phone to sedate me with painkillers as soon as I got to the hospital.  When they got to the hospital and gave approval like an hour later, apparently the docs broke my ankle back into place.  Just snapped it.  My mom said it was the most gruesome thing she's ever seen, you could hear the snap.  Apparently I sat up in the hospital bed and screamed bloody murder for like 15 seconds before falling back asleep.  I don't remember it.  One of our assistant coaches went to the hospital with me since my parents weren't there, he literally fainted as they did it and had to be monitored afterwards.  I woke up in a cast almost up to my hip.  Took me like 9 months to recover, counting PT and all that.  Awful.

This is how programs fall off. You think it’s one bad season but then it’s two, then you don’t get the best players anymore, now all of a sudden it’s year 7 of mediocrity and you’re Tennessee or Nebraska or Miami. God. We just won a title 6 years ago. What the ####.

You have to make the rare, tough call of bailing on a young coach with potential...with a sexy replacement lined up.  Who can FSU pull?

I’m sure we could pull a lot of guys but I have no idea who the hot candidate is. Don’t really follow that much.

They 100% should have went for 2. They had the FSU defense on skates the entire second half.
I thought the same.  ULM should have run the EXACT same play they scored the td on.  [FSU was not prepared at all....Taggert wouldn't have had a clue 25 seconds later]....But alas, a college fb coach was too conservative.  Supplies!!!

In case you missed it (and judging by the attendance you probably did) but Wisconsin QB Jack Coan went 26/32 for 360 and 3 TD. I think the last 300 yard passer might have been Russell Wilson? Yeah, Central Michigan, whatever. Don't @ me. This is unprecedented, folks

The play-by-play guy on the Beavs/Bows game barely speaks English.  Sounds like the interpreter from Dances With Woofs.  TOUCHDOOOOWN RAINBOWS!!!

Kudos to both UT and LSU for playing that game.
Question for the house: is that game substantially different played in Baton Rouge? What did LSU accomplish last night? How tough of an out is Texas in Austin?

10-15 years ago, this was an easier series of questions to answer.

A post on the VolShop’s website read in part, “Vols were touched to learn of the student’s heart for the University of Tennesse and sent UT gifts of all sorts. Now you can share in this student’s Volunteer pride by wearing his design on your shirt too. A portion of proceeds from every shirt sold will be donated to STOMP Out Bullying.”

Did the web site actually spell Tennessee wrong?

But I hear Texas is back.
Gotcha. Trying to read the tea leaves and see if last night's game means that LSU is at least in shouting distance of squads like Clemson and Alabama. What would the line be for those two teams in Austin? 14+?

Both would be easy double digit favorties in Austin. Think about it. Bama was -14.5 against OU in the CFB semi. No one knew what LSU's offense was really going to look like. And they were still -6.5 last night. I bet Bama and Clemson would be close to 7 point favorites against LSU--even after last night's performance.

I'd say "especially after last night's performance". Nice to see LSU score a lot ... but that second-half Tiger defense was brutal. Locals are chalking it up to "everyone cramping up" and "playing on the road". But I dunno -- not sold on the Tigers as Top-Four team yet. Need to see more dominance.
