He's good... but he's not elite.
I can’t think of 5 better options if you’re building a program for the long haul.

Saban is old, Meyer is a flake, Day is good so far but he inherited a gold mine, same for Lincoln Riley. Who else you want?

If you’re drafting a coach for the next 15 years, Franklin is top 5 easy.

After witnessing 13 years of John Cooper winning a lot but losing almost all of the big games, I'm really not impressed by his 2nd coming.

1-4 against Ohio State

2-5 against UM

3-4 against Mich St

But it's not the losses, it's how he manages to lose.  He's a great recruiter, but a terrible gameday coach.  Many of these games he had the superior team and many of these games they had a lead late.  It's odd and I don't know if I can explain it, but it's like he doesn't know how to handle success.  If he gets a lead over a superior opponent, he's suddenly out of his element.

In 2017, they had a 15 point lead on OSU with 7 minutes left in the third quarter and an 11 point lead with 5:30 left in the game.  They lost by 1 point.  In 2018, PSU had a 12 point lead with 8:00 to go.  They lost by 1 point.

He makes head-scratching playcalls, weird personnel decisions, has terrible clock management, etc. when he's under pressure.

He just....I don't know...Doesn't seem like he's quite ready for major major college football. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong and this year is different,  but I just can't get 100% excited about the guy.  He just always finds a way to let you down.
@Capella

Kinda have a feeling this could get out of hand here for Alabama.  Gimpy Tua means the offense won't be able to move the ball, and the defense is a bit of a sieve so far.

Haggins, on the decision to play Jordan Travis and the plan to use him: “I said, ‘Kendal, run your offense. You make that decision. I’ll support you.’”

travis ran 3 times for 95 yards and 2 scores today. People have been saying he was a perfect fit for Briles all year. Willie...yikes.
