Did the SEC not have to get all their schools to sign away their TV revenue rights if they wanted to leave like some of the other conferences?

 
Crazy anecdote in a story on SEC scheduling by Andy Staples today on The Athletic about Jack Driscoll, who is a starting OT for Auburn (and a second cousin to one of my close friends growing up).

While Driscoll was at UMass he played at Ben Hill Griffin against Florida (2016 opener), at Williams-Brice against South Carolina (Oct. 2016), and at Neyland against Tennessee (Sept. 2017). He is the only current Auburn player to have played in any of those stadiums.

Auburn plays in Gainesville this weekend for the first time since 2007. Auburn last played at South Carolina in 2011 and won't play there until 2021.

Auburn at Tennessee was last in 2013, and not again until 2025. UMass will play at Auburn twice between now and then.

Saw on Twitter that Auburn and Florida have only played each other 28 times even though they've been in the same conference for 98 years.

No idea where that number came from. They’ve played like 90 times. Back when they first went to divisions AU’s two permanent cross division opponents were UGA and Florida because of the history.

 
USF and UConn have moved their game from 7 PM to noon due to concerns about some mosquito-borne virus that is killing people in CT?  Wild.

There was a great solution to this issue proposed, it would put one more conference game on the table and split all the teams into 4 pods.  It gets posted here every so often but can't find a direct link at this time.  It was one of those ideas that was so good that it was impossible to implement.

 
Odd stat that probably means little but I find interesting. I guess the Pac12 teams are the likely suspects 

@chrisfallica: Each of the last 5 years a Top 15 team (9 total, 6 Top 10) has lost to a NR team the 1st week of October. 

Top 15 Teams vs NR Opp This Week 
5 LSU vs Utah St
6 OU at Kansas
8 Wisc vs Kent St
12 PSU vs Purdue
9 ND vs BG 
11 Texas at WVU
3 UGA vs Tenn
13 Ore vs Cal 
15 UW at Stan

I don't bet, but if I were betting, I'd place my bets to capitalize on that on the two games I highlighted.  There's nothing to fade here; just my uneducated opinion.

 
Oregon catches a break with Cal's QB going down.  Their backup was dreadful in relief, though Oregon has a history of making backup QBs look like Heisman contenders (see Montez, Steven).  

Cal's defense is salty, but I think the story so far this season has been Oregon's defense.  They've been very good, although it's hard to tell how good against this iteration of Stanford and schools like Nevada/Montana.  

Feel like the Under 46.5 is in play here.

Oregon has scored over 40 points agains Cal for 8 straight years.  Agree that Cal defense is better this year though.  Oregon D looks great too.  Guessing 38-10 type of score.

Yeah, but this iteration of their offense looks.....inferior to past seasons.  Maybe they get it cranking tomorrow, but were you inspired by that Stanford game?

1st half sure.  2nd half they went into preserve mode again which is frustrating.  The playcalling gets too predictable with a lead and has cost them games (last year Stanford, Auburn this year).  I keep hoping Arroyo figures it out.

Excited to see Pittman tomorrow!

UCF fans like to point out their ties with Disney should help them get promoted to a bigger conference. It would be like using a Nike ad parody for your Ducks.

The ending was a bit of a let down but Bearcats went to a lot of trouble for that.

 
Oh, I didn't know UCF had Disney ties.  I did know about their ridiculous claims to a national title but thought it was schtick.  

Still, didn't think that was nearly the burn that the Twitter replies did, but I'm old and please get off my lawn.
