2021-22 NBA Thread: Bill Simmons furiously recording 2.5 hour long pod about how Boston is still better than Golden State (1 Viewer)

538 article on Bucks offense echoing what I mentioned yesterday. Scoring on easy transition points, offensive rebounds, and weak side pick and rolls involving Giannis. Half court sets only generating 88.6 points per 100 possessions in the playoffs.

MIL averaged the fewest passes per game in the regular season and are averaging 16 fewer passes per game in the post season. In the regular season, they scored better with Giannis and Holiday on the court without Middleton vs. all three playing together.

Bottom line, the Bucks need some more ball movement and/or better efficiency in  their half court offense.

I think Celts win fairly easily tonight. Similar to game 2. Bucks win game 6 in a tough close one. We get an epic game 7 with future hall of famer Al Horford hitting a three at the buzzer for the win.

Bud finally gets his head out of his ### and realizes that he can't leave Big Al wide open.  Wes continues making Tatum work for his buckets.  Jrue doesn't shoot 5/22 again, and Bucks win in a close one.

This is a tough spot though. The reason the Celts have had such a tough time in the paint is because of leaving Horford open at the three point line. You keep close to Horford and you start giving up more points in the paint

I'd put Giannis on Horford and Brook on Grant Williams (and help off Grant).  Switch any screen actions involving Horford.  Let Grant Williams see if he can score 30 against you.

I think Jaylen is the high-point guy for Boston tonight with around 30 and they wear down the Bucks in the 4th quarter again for about a 10 point win.

Bucks will make some adjustment and the Celtics will counter it in the 2nd half and find ways to score.  Honestly, If I'm Milwaukee, I force Al to beat us still because he can't play any better than he did last game.  I'd also tell Giannis not to piss him off this time.

I see MIL / BOS Game 5 going similar to both of last night's games. Boston as the home team gets up early again, goes on a big run in the 3rd, and wins pretty handily. Maybe not by 35 or 40, but they could be up 25 again and win by 15 or 20. I think MIL opts not to exert the energy late in the game and instead decides to rest up for Game 6 at home.

I'm guessing Robert Williams plays a few minutes off the bench but doesn't do much or impact the game much. Horford has a much quieter night, but Grant Williams and Peyton Pritchard combine for 6-8 threes. The Jays combine for 45-50 and Horford / White / Smart each get 8-10. BOS wins like 109-91.

The Celtics are a weird team. Feels like they should be up by 15-20–but yet we’re looking at a 7 point game. The Bucks probably feel good about playing a horrid first half and still being right in this.

I don’t think that either team can be really happy with their offense and shot selection so far.  The last 3 by Smart was finally a result of good ball and player movement. Much of the offense from both teams tonight has been of the isolation variety.  That’s one of the reasons why the Celtics were only up 7 at half even though they outshot the Bucks and only committed two turnovers.

People keep going on about the numbers and the fact he's missing 2 players. The only reason he got to those numbers is because he's missing those players. It's like Westbrook compiling stats in OKC. Yes Jokic is good but the jerking off of the 2000-1000-500 like it's some sacred number when the guy plays poor defense is ridiculous.

Embiid won the scoring title... As a Center. Oh he also plays really good defense to the point that teams alter their offense to avoid him. He's Shaq but with Olajuwon's touch and quickness. All while the 2nd best player on the team tried to sabotage the whole thing for 2/3 of the year. He carried the Sixers with his best help being a 2nd year Maxey and Harris who didn't start playing well until about Feb. Harden came in the trade and has been decent since he joined but it's not like he's a top 10-15 player during that span. Everyone on here feels he's washed and at times he's shown it.

MVP is supposed to be the best player that year. Embiid is clearly the best player.

Both the guys you mentioned are much better then any of the supporting cast Joel had this year. Joel not on the Sixers still make the playoffs with their roster. Jokic not on Den this year and they are a lottery team. Jokic has also been putting up similar numbers even when his two best supporters have been there.

Jokic offense more then makes up for his poor defense. Joel wins it any other year unfortunately Jokic just had an historical year. Not the end of the world here. if Joel stays healthy and motivated he'll have more chances to win an MVP. Maybe that's the problem though on the Sixers. Seems more concerned on an individual award then team success right now
