*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

Krejci gone.
Sucks, but can't blame the man.  Wants to play in front of his family in the Czech Republic, and wants his kids to experience living where he grew up.

B's definitely going to miss him, but glad to have had him in the Black and Gold for the past 14 seasons.  Class act.

larry brooks says latest nyr eichel offer is chytil, zac jones, georgiev and a 1.  i make that move all day long if eichel is helfy.

dying to get rid of georgiev

These offers are embarrassing.
You are right. But after the statement just issued by Eichels agent, I see no way he ever skates for the Sabres again. Good luck getting a good deal. And this is not Ranger centric. I think they are out unless Buffalo eats some money and I don’t see them doing that. He will land in Anaheim or somewhere else out west for a package that will make most Sabres fans cry. Like I said earlier in thread, they really overplayed their hand on this one IMO.

maybe. tough to get fair value given the injury. I firmly believe they should wait for an offer they like though. No reason to rush this.

On Nick Ritchie's 2x2.5 with Toronto, courtesy my son from reddit....

This is going to sound like sour grapes from a Boston fan but I don't give a ####.

Ritchie is one of the worst players I've seen in a Bruins sweater in a long time. He routinely made me question what it meant to be a Boston fan, he tested my patience and my ability to root for my boys on a routine basis.

I can excuse a lot, that's what sports fandom is, right? It's a place to be biased and petty and stupid in a safe little sandbox of biased petty stupidity. But suck me sideways Thick **** Nick made it a chore. I can handle guys lacking talent but playing with heart, I can handle a lack of heart in crazy talented guys, I can handle the staggering room temperature milk mediocrity of guys like Lee Stempniak, but Thick **** Nick is none of those things.

He plays the game like someone trying to egg you on into taking a swing at him. He skates with the urgency of an old lady shopping for canned beats, but with half the speed. His hockey IQ is on par with Brett Favre's. I'm assuming Brett Farve has never played hockey, correct me if I'm wrong. Nick constantly skates around like he's surprised he's at an NHL game and then glides back to the bench (probably from the penalty box for a stick infraction) with the dim look of Lenny from Of Mice and Men. Then he sits there like a melting chocolate Santa, with his hair inexplicably sticking up through the vent in his helmet, waiting to be surprised by his next turn to get on the ice.

Consider this: He scored 15 goals last year, found some dangerous ice as a PP scorer, and Bruins fans were debating if he would be a good 4th liner or not this year, because our 4th line was that ####### bad, and Ritchie was the only skater who could conceivably make it worse. He scored 15 goals for us and we weren't sure if he would be a good replacement for Chris ####### Wagner, the surly hobbit of the TD garden.

Nick Ritchie is a bigger contributor to the decline in cardiovascular health in Boston fans than smoking and obesity. He's the equivalent of a double bacon cheeseburger on your system. He is hockey diarrhea. The guy takes the stupidest retaliatory penalties you've ever seen. He is complete invisible until you need a momentum swing, goes "Got ya boss" and cross checks someone in the neck and bumbles off the ice like Abbott and/or Costello while simultaneously shrugging and #####ing to the refs and the guy he blindsided.

I'm sure he's not a bad guy IRL, I don't mean for this to be a character assassination. I'm sure he has family and besides Brett they probably don't suck. This isn't about kicking a player on their way out; let the record reflect that every Boston fan has a few memories of cursing his name and that we started kicking him long before he was down. (See also the general well wishes for Kuraly upon his departure.)

Nick isn't a goon, he's a bad boyfriend. He'll score a couple of goals one week and you'll think he's turned a corner and then he'll hit on one of your friends and tell you to chill out because he's just being friendly. Don't buy the hype, be ####### aware.

I am ecstatic that Ritchie wasn't held onto as a sunk cost, and that Toronto signed him. There you go, that's your analysis.

Grubauer's contract w/ the #SeaKraken was rejected by the NHL central registry for violating the front-loaded contract requirements:

-1.5M increase between 22/23-23/24 exceeds 25% of 1st year salary

The contract needs to be restructured and resubmitted

:lmao:   :lmao:

Remember when we thought Seattle had a top-flight front office? That was like, 2 weeks ago.

@frank_seravalli: #Flyers Carter Hart's deal believed to be the highest AAV ever for NHL goaltender's 2nd contract. (Murray $3.75m, Vasilevskiy $3.5m.)

Hart: 3 yrs, $11.937m ($3.979m AAV)
21-22: $3.2m ($279k SB)
22-23: $3.6m ($379k SB)
23-24: $4.479m (no SB)

Qualifying offer due 2024: $4.479m.

@NYP_Brooksie: Win-win contract for Shesterkin. The deal is for four years, a win for the goaltender, the price believed in the $5.5-$5.75M range, a win for the Rangers.

KHL team has offered Kaprizov a one-year $8 million deal. And the pressure ratchets up on Guerin and the Wild. If they don't sign him, you might as well relocate the franchise. Again.

such a non story.  he can get paid whatever he wants in Russia, that's never changed.  if he wanted to play there he never would have left.  fake leverage, he'll sign.  not for a 7-8 year deal the team wants, but he'll sign a 3-5 year deal.

With Henrik Lundqvist's retirement, I am looking forward to the Capitals retiring his number and raising another banner to the rafters.

Chemical X said:
now, the rhetorical question is; what does zibanejad ask for?
He is going to ask for 10 and the Rangers should walk away from it. Paying for past returns at that price. Already did that with Krieder.

@stormcellar97: The Canes tacked on a $20 signing bonus (Aho’s number) and if that ain’t the biggest FU I’ve seen all year I don’t know what is.
Not to mention this puts Montreal over the cap potentially.
Best hockey day in a while!

No way Montreal should match that one.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi will likely never be worth $6M and never amount to more than a middle six C. A 1st and a 3rd is adequate compensation imo. Quite the pickle. Very curious if Montreal will match or let him walk. Offer sheet chaos is the best kind of chaos!
