*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (2 Viewers)

I don't think Toews sticks around based on some of his comments, and I wouldn't be surprised if Kane also left. Both are probably are going to want to have a legit shot at a cup before they retire and the Hawks are definitely not going to be that.

The other factor in the 3-5 years, is heavily assuming Davidson is competent. I'm not sold on him yet.
but do they both get traded to accelerate the rebuild?

I think they really should try and get something good in return for Kane this offseason if he agrees to go, but who is going to take on that Toews contract?

I think the Seth Jones move is going to set them back, and I have concerns that Dach will not become the #1 C he was expected to be.

RIP, Mike Bossy.

If you grew up in the late '70s and early '80s, like I did ... the Islanders were an incredible juggernaut built through patience and great decision-making. Potvin, Gillies, Trottier, Billy Smith, Nystrom, etc. etc. Bossy might be the best pure goal scorer I've ever seen in the NHL.

Nine straight 50+ goal seasons ... I don't think that will ever be matched. (Nor will the Isles' 19 straight playoff series victories.) I can only imagine what would have happened if his back hadn't given out at such a relatively young age. He and Bobby Orr are probably two of the biggest "what-ifs" from an injury standpoint, and I'm glad I got the see both of them in their prime.

Pour one out for a legend.
his stats are like a video game.  never less than 50 goals in a season until his last season at age 30 which was abbreviated due to his back injury.

I don't think either will be traded, especially Toews, as not much interest in that cap hit. So IMO they play out next year and move on somewhere else.

The Jones contract was not good in any way shape or form IMO, and agree that Dach is at best a 2C no way is he a 1C. Lots to do and with GM who's really unknown I am not confident things move in the right direction in the near term.

Wild with a nice comeback to scrounge out a point, but the Blues seem to own them lately.  Should be a great 1st round series either way.

So Dryden McKay got a 6 month ban for doping. That’s got to be awkward.

The whole story is wild. They equated it to one grain of sand in a swimming pool ... the banned substance was in a legal vitamin supplement (and unmarked) he was taking as a COVID preventive, which was verified when the manufacturer sent an unopened bottle of the vitamins to the lab.

Cleared by the NCAA, and the only reason he was able to play the whole season is because his appeal window ran until last week.

Linky link.

Look out Kraken! Flyers dropped a home and home to the Sabres and looked spectacularly bad.  Currently with the 4 slot in the lottery, they're catching up to Seattle at 3.

Not many teams can hang with the Sabres anymore. Too legit to quit.

lol Vegas getting Hamburglar’d.  forget about getting in, might want to start worrying about Couver passing you.

A lot of people were betting on a Vegas-Tampa Cup Final. They’re going to look silly if Vegas can’t even get in.

Unrelated note, but if teams are going to utilize the LTIR rules properly, I suggest emulating Tampa, not Vegas.

can't believe this is really happening.

Vegas playoff odds below 20% now.

LAK 85.3%
VGK 19.8%
VAN 11.6%

Let's Go Couver!

If the Flyers are going to beat anybody it's the Habs.   Montreal has won 2 since the deadline and have looked pretty terrible. Habs now pretty safe in 31st, 5 back of the really bad expansion team.

Must see TV Thursday night!

Not seeing how Vegas could be 20%.

They are 3 points behind the Kings and have 3 tough games Kings don't have. They each have 5 left.

Van wins game at hand, and they trail Kings by 2 and then play them at home  They are tied in RWins.
They are also hot with W6 and Kings are not.

I see this as
LAK 55%
VAN 40%
Vegas 5%

It's a big if to win those two games in hand when they play the Wild, Calgary, Edmonton in three of those games left.  They have a tough schedule to go........although Calgary might not play everyone as they have basically locked in their spot.  Edmonton and the Wild still have to win though.   Regardless it's going down to the wire.

Edm could sit guys last game also.

Central might have 3 teams with more points than anyone in the Pacific.  cool bracket tho Bettman, I bet it becomes the new march madness.  tough break to have to get smoked round 1, Blues.

good call to bring the world juniors back to Canada in August and then probably again December.  their covid rules are totally reasonable and I'm sure it goes off without problems.  great job as always IIHF

Hey

@AnaheimDucks

..... If you beat LA tonight, we'll ask Pietrangelo to give the Breakaway Challenge title to Zegras.....

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If ANA wins tonight and VAn beats OTT....

If Canucks finish 4-2, they get to 94 points

If Kings just finish 2-3, they also finish with 94 points

To get to 94 points, Vegas has to go 3-1-1 in their last 5.

Vegas probably has to go 4-1 at minimum to give themselves a chance with 95 points.
