*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

Will be interesting to see what happens with Atlantic 2 and 3 tonight. I assume and hope the Bolts play the Leafs but they could pull anchor to the Metro conceivably.

Very entertaining first period here at the X between MN and CO. Getting kind of chippy though, at one point there were five guys in the penalty boxes at the same time. Refs are getting picky now to take control, lots of penalties.

Does anyone know if ESPN+ will provide the MSG feed for Rangers games in round 1 for people out of market or do I have to listen to ESPN and TNT announcers?

I doubt ESPN wants to compete with itself.

During the first two rounds of the postseason, there won’t be any games broadcast on ESPN+. Starting with the Conference Finals, select games will air on ABC, which will be simulcast on ESPN+. The Disney broadcast network and streaming service will also carry the Stanley Cup Finals.

REMINDER: The NHL announced changes to the Draft Lottery format on March 23, 2021. Among the changes taking effect this season, there will be a limit on the total number of selections (10) a team participating in the Draft Lottery can "move up" in the event it wins one of the Lottery Draws. Thus, only the top 11 seeds will be eligible to receive the first overall selection in the 2022 NHL Draft.

The allocation of odds for the 1st Lottery Draw of the 2022 NHL Draft Lottery is as follows:

Draft Lottery Participants Odds
Montreal Canadiens 18.5%
Arizona Coyotes 13.5%
Seattle Kraken 11.5%
Philadelphia Flyers 9.5%
New Jersey Devils 8.5%
Chicago Blackhawks * 7.5%
Ottawa Senators 6.5%
Detroit Red Wings 6.0%
Buffalo Sabres 5.0%
Anaheim Ducks 3.5%
San Jose Sharks 3.0%
Columbus Blue Jackets 2.5%
New York Islanders 2.0%
Winnipeg Jets 1.5%
Vancouver Canucks 0.5%
Vegas Golden Knights ** 0.5%

* Under the terms of a July 23, 2021 trade, Chicago will transfer its 1st-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft to Columbus if it is not a top 2 pick. If it becomes a top 2 pick as a result of the Draft Lottery, Chicago will retain the pick and instead transfer to Columbus its 1st-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

** Under the terms of a Nov. 4, 2021 trade, Vegas will transfer its 1st-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft to Buffalo if it is not a top 10 pick. If it becomes a top 10 pick as a result of the Draft Lottery, Vegas will retain the pick and instead transfer to Buffalo its 1st-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

The odds for the remaining teams will increase on a proportionate basis for the 2nd Lottery Draw, based on which team wins the 1st Lottery Draw.

The 14 teams not selected in the 2022 NHL Draft Lottery will be assigned the remaining 2022 NHL Draft selections (among 1 through 16 in the first round), in inverse order of regular-season points.

I’m excited to see how this Cup run ends for the Bolts. I know it’ll end at some point, but I don’t think Toronto is the team to do it. I feel bad, because I like Steve Dangle, and these next several games will be fun, but I think Tampa has too much in the tank.

I'm thinking the 2nd round  Fla/TB winner goes to the finals.   And I don't know if TB can beat them in a best of 7.  It's almost like the Panthers were built to specifically  beat the Lightning,

Toronto and Florida goaltending seems inadequate for the playoffs. That is the Bolts main advantage. We’ll see how it goes. Beating Vasy and the boys 4 out of 7 seems tough.

FLA gave up just 13 more goals than TB.

FLA depth is way better than TB. FLA scored 53 more goals than TB.

Bolts also played 3 months without Kuch and generally did not seem like they cared about the regular-season. They went in as the Atlantic 3 last year too.

You’d agree Vasy is much more playoff proven than Bob and Knight, yes? I don’t think the regular season really matters at this point.

I can’t go against Vasilevskiy, the guy is a god in the playoffs, and the rest of the team is turning it on at the right time.

CGY over TB ... Martin Gelinas, who has secretly been on the Flames' LTIR since the 2009-10 season, scores the winning goal. Gelinas doesn't kick the puck into the net, and it clearly crosses the line, but his $750,000 minimum salary puts CalGary over the cap by $451,100. Chaos ensues ... Kal El immediately becomes a diehard Coyotes fan.

Side note, I borrowed Dickie Dunn’s WC first round results, I admittedly don’t know as much as I should about the teams out west. I do appreciate him thinking I’m going to for some reason switch to a team that I’ll never see in person, since I live 2 time zones away. I question his reasoning, but I appreciate it all the same.
