*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (2 Viewers)

The Panthers are going through exactly what the Lightning went through in 2018 and '19 ... maybe even back to their Cup final appearance in 2015. You need to take some lumps before you learn how to win. I think Cooper even alluded to it last night when he was asked about the '19 loss to 'Lumbus as the Presidents' Trophy winners.

Talent (and Vasy) aside, the experience is a major "X" factor for the Lightning now. Good luck to the team that finally ends their run.

Blues showing their true colors tonight.

Really surprising how they take their cues from Berube.
Meh, I thought it was pretty embarrassing all around but whatever. Don’t understand the Berube comment though. Is that just an assumption based on his playing career? I think he is actually a very even-keeled coach.

Some people had to dig and find something stupid (and offensive) he said last century in order to dog him, but these are the same people who defended Kadri like he saved their grandpa from a fire.

2nd time Kane has had 5 goals in two G this postseason

12 is one short of Top 50 all time

Record is 19, Sid & Alex with 15 have the most in this millennium

That is what we call poetic justice.

Even if the Avs go on to win this series, I love their fans going home sad tonight after they thought they had it won.

Av’s played not to lose that whole 3rd period. This should have been over, but the Blues got the job done. 😌
It was bizarre. Completely parked the bus from the midpoint of the second period and let a desperate team dictate the game.

Impressive resolve from the Blues. Should make for an interesting Game 6.

I think we saw how good of a coach Berube is tonight.  The Blues under Hitchcock or most other coaches prior to Berube would have phoned it in tonight once they fell behind 2-0 or 3-0 (I remember that happening more than once in an elimination game), but the team tonight kept grinding and making plays and found a way to get it done. The Blues since Berube came aboard have a mental toughness the team has never had since I started watching in the early 80s, and win or lose, it is a great thing to see.

That incredibly loud squeak you heard last night was the collective Av's fans sphincters tightening.  They don't exactly have a recent track record of getting out of the 2nd round.

True, but while it’s fun to needle fanbases about that kind of stuff, I don’t put a lot of stock in that most of the time when it comes to the players. The Avs are a super talented team. Winning the next two against them is a tall task.

As embarrassing as game 4 was this was the opposite. Gonna be tough to win 2 more, but it sure would be sweet.
Yep.

Up until Tarasenko's goal last night, with the exception of game 2, the Blues just didn't look good, were outmatched, and just didn't show a lot of fire. Down 3-1 in the series and 3-0 last night, they were done and it was frustrating to watch.

After the comeback last night (twice), everything just feels better. They may lose either of the next two games, but they showed so much last night and can feel satisfied as a fan.

I missed three goals while pulling my car into the garage. Insane.

The only way this goes from here is 10-10 at the end of regulation, and then seven OTs without a goal.

I have to watch that clip every couple of years to remember Gretzky was playing for the Blues (and fumbled the puck right before Stevie Y's bomb).

Right, 18G + 13 in playoffs before he finished with his 3 years as a Ranger.

Keenan had a bunch of former Oilers on those teams. Pronger was starting to really excel, tough out.

@hayyyshayyy: Jacob Markstrom allowed 6.75 goals above expected in this series through five games via @EvolvingHockey

That goal should have counted, IMO. Didn't really look like a kicking motion to me. The definition of which seems to change game to game. Sometimes it seems hockey ops just flips a coin.
