*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (4 Viewers)

To be fair, Leddy got boarded from behind earlier in the series, which knocked him out for a couple games, and there was barely a peep about it, so hits are coming from everywhere in this series.  It's a physical series.
wasn’t from behind but borderline minor, fair enough. physical series yes, but Blues are a wayyyy better when they don’t play that way, not who they are even though they tried to force it at times.

I heard from someone who is very connected that there is talk to ban Russian NHL players if the war in Ukraine continues.  My jaw almost hit the floor.
I don’t know about a leaguewide ban, but I heard one of the SiriusXM shows talking about how possibly certain teams could shy away from drafting Russian players if things don’t change (and other savvy, more aggressive teams could benefit by taking a chance on them).

Yes and no. Berube was very much a tough guy when he played, and he coaches the team to hit a lot in the playoffs.  The Blues don't play overly physical, but they crank it up in the postseason a notch. That's what they did in 2019 in their run to the Cup, and they are doing it this postseason as well.  The Wild are a big team, so not easy to employ that method against them and have it be highly successful, but this is the Blues postseason game under Berube.  I expect the Wild's best game of the series tonight, and I won't be surprised if we get a G7 on Saturday.

That makes more sense especially because teams are actively looking at ways to bring their (previously drafted) prospects over from KHL in case the door (or curtain) closes again.

this roster makeup is completely different than 2019.  game 3 where they tried to force the physical play was easily their worst game of the series.  they are better off just playing what they are: skill, speed, and flow.

Larry Brooks:

Post has learned that Rangers have been notified that there will be no hearing or fine for Jacob Trouba for hit on Crosby.

Unfortunate if he's hurt but the whole play was thrown off when Trouba's stick got into Crosby's skates trying for the poke check.

Dallas has to be the most unwatchable playoff team I’ve seen in a very long time. Hope Calgary buries them tomorrow.

I saw a reverse angle of the video that was a much clearer look and shows there really was no head contact at all.

Of course, that's not the one being shared by everyone to prove their point, but there you go.

Nah no way lmao. That’s legitimately insane.

That's what I thought as well but he knows what he's talking about.  No idea how you stop paying contracts but some are discussing it. I think the OHL has banned Russians and Belarusians from being drafted.

This is no kind of dumb jinx or anything but through 5.5 games Toronto is simply the better team. Bolts have played well tonight but Toronto has another level Tampa can’t seem to get to.

I see the Bruins won to force Game Seven. If I had passion, I'd watch it, but I lack passion. And pretzels and tucked-in hockey jerseys.

Hope these playoffs have been fun for all of you. Peace...

Yep. That is what they are doing tonight, and they are dismantling the Wild.  Minnesota should be happy they got 2 wins in this series, to be honest.

Just another disappointing notch in our loser belt here in MN. Unbelievable 30 year track record of ineptitude that makes me question why I bother

What calls are the Leafs butt hurt about? The 5 on 3? Pretty obvious both were high sticks. The majority of the rest of the game was 5 on 5. Paul had a stick between his legs and got called for embellishment for a 4 on 4.

Toronto seems like the better team but all the pressure is on them.

GG Minnesota. I like your team and would have been pulling for you guys if you moved on. Your franchise seems to be a bit stuck like the Blues were for most of the 2010s.. I hope Guerin can find a way to get you to the next level.

The Colorado offense and forechecking is going to be tough to beat but hopefully the Blues can make a series of it. Would like nothing more than to see the Avs get bounced in the 2nd round again.

I'm seeing tons of comments on the high stick calls. Specifically the first one where they claim the stick didn't even hit him in the face. There's also a clip of Killorn (I think) tugging on Matthews jersey for about 5 seconds that went uncalled.  A few are whining that the Point's chinstrap wasn't done up on the tying goal.  2 Leafs complained to the refs thinking the whistle should have blown and I assume that Point should have been penalized.  IN intermission the panel cleared this up saying that, in fact, is not a requirement.

Some complaining that the standard was different from the first 5 games. The Leafs only getting 1 PP, yada, yada, yada.

The usual loser mentality to blame the refs.

The pressure on Toronto Saturday will be unreal.

The Bolts core has been here sooooooo many times. I mean, they closed the Rangers out in game 7 of the ECF 7 years ago when everybody was making a big deal about how the franchise never lost a game 7 at home. They’ve won so many big games on the road, they know exactly what needs to be done. Obviously Toronto has struggled immensely with that. Leafs are the better team but I’d be a little surprised if that isn’t a major factor tomorrow.

Not sure I’ll be around a TV tomorrow night but if I am I’ll be tuned in to Tor/TB. Great series from what I’ve watched. I found myself cheering for Toronto despite Maroon being my boy so I guess that’s who I am going with tomorrow.

@chrismpeters: ESPN+ has Men's World Championship games that are not on NHL Network in the U.S. Simon Nemec and Juraj Slafkovsky and Slovakia about to play France for all you draft nuts out there.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting Tampa to force Game 7 when they coughed up 3 straight goals in the 2nd, and Leafs fans of all people should know that refs are bad, and high sticking is still a penalty in the playoffs. Killorn probably should have gotten called, but they missed Leafs players interfering with Bolts, so it went both ways at least. That said, Leaf’s fans are dreading yet another deciding game for their team, and while they’re the better team, Tampa has been here before, and Vasilevskiy is a wall in deciding games. Someone in blue and white is going home on Saturday night unhappy, but Toronto has more on the line if they lose a 5th straight deciding game(I’m including the Game 5 against Columbus, because it was winner take all as well)
