*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (3 Viewers)

@ScoutingTheRefs: Second goal of the night at #NYRvsPIT on a dislodged net. Second one that'll count even though the net was off. Rule 63.7 says so. Continuous play, puck crossed through normal position of posts. #NYR #LetsGoPens #StanleyCup

Wow, over a day with no posts in the playoff hockey thread in the first week of the postseason?  That is unheard of.

Anyway, the Blues are toast.  Blues/Wild was gonna be a nail-biter anyway, but with three of their defensemen out, the Blues have no chance. The Wild had more odd man rushes than I could count last night.  The Wild are too good and too on fire to beat when shorthanded like that.
Bolts spent the first half of the game last night getting trucked by the Leafs and then looked turbo charged the final half. Could go 6 but I think the Leafs are slightly better.

Wild didn’t deserve to win today. Disappointing showing against a banged up blue line and backup goalie.
Blues/Wild is an even matchup by just about any objective measure, so it should be no surprise that it is 2-2 after four games, even with the Blues depleted D unit.  Either of these teams, if healthy, could go all the way, so it should be a fight to the finish.

@NYIslanders: #Isles News: New York Islanders President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello announced today that Barry Trotz has been relieved of his duties as Head Coach.

@lcvalent: @NYIslanders Barry, keep any orange ties you have and head south on I-95 a couple hours. We are the dumpster fire on the right.

that seems pretty unexpected. many blamed their poor start this year on the long road trip while waiting for the new arena to open. now they dump a great coach.

maybe Lou should fire himself for trading away Devon Toews.

Kings/Oilers sure is an interesting series.  The last three games only one team has shown up.  Only game one had both teams in the arena.  I guess we will see on Tuesday if both teams made the trip to Edmonton or not.

TB/TOR has been the same, except for all 4 games.  Toronto dominates games 1 and 3 and looks unbeatable.  Tampa dominates the even # games and looks unbeatable.  No game-to-game momentum whatsoever.

I think Leaf fans know the heartbreak is only a few days away.

Edit: actually I should rethink that. TB was in game 3.

Tampa apparently can't lose two in a row, but if this series continue to form, we should get a pretty interesting Game 7.

Yea bolts got dominated in the first half of game 3 and then totally turned the tables in the second half. Weird series. 50-50 to me right now but I think the Bolts have the edge. Vasy has not been good though.

The weird part is, no one knew exactly what he was doing ... if they even remembered he was there.

I did see him scouting in Worcester during the NCAA tournament.

will be interesting to see how injured Dumba and Foligno are, both having a tough series.

Fiala :missing:   …at least he somewhat resembled himself in the 3rd last night

(parody account)

@FridgeHN1C: I tried to tell you guys all year that Louis Domingue was better than Igor Shesterkin, but nope, nobody wanted to listen!

Geez, it’s 4-1 and could easily be 6 or 7 partway through the 2nd in Pittsburgh.
6-2 now. You just can’t leave your goalie in at this point. If nothing else, you gotta give him a chance to sit down and shake things off. At this point you’re just ruining him for the rest of the series.

PPG Paints arena is ROCKING

Chants of Igor are deafening.  They've gotta yank him at this point. Not that it'll do any good

Especially after Game 3. A couple of the goals are on the defense but it looks like Pens are making him move side to side and going 5 hole.

I get that Josi is probably going to win the Norris, but I don’t see how anyone could have watched that series and still say he’s better than Makar.

Josi doesn’t have Toews. As awesome as Makar is, playing with a fellow Norris candidate has to help quite a bit. Not to mention a top-3 forward in MacKinnon.

So which Kings team shows up tonight?  Game1/4 or Game 2/3?   It really boils down to staying out of the box....that has really been the difference in the games.   Also, whatever teams scores first has been the deciding factor.

Preparing for tonight's draft lottery I was perusing some of the recent results and didn't realize until today that in 2017 Colorado had the greatest odds and actually fell to 4th.  With that selection they took Makar, of course, and I was wondering if he was their guy regardless or if losing the lottery was like actually winning the lottery?

Just preparing myself for the Habs losing and moving down to the dreaded 3rd spot where they have not had much luck.  Maybe this time they'll make a pick like the Avs and find a superstar.

In playoff news, I wonder which Leaf team will show up tonight? Matthews hasn't scored since game 1 so he's due for another multi-goal game I suspect.
