2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (1 Viewer)

It's a bit crazy, but I won't call it stupid if they really think Goff can do what Winston and Mariota did last year, only with a more talented Bills roster.

Maybe they think Tyrod's ceiling was what we saw last year. He's good not great. His playing style also makes a full 16 game season often in doubt. He's in a walk year. Negotiations have broken down and the Bills are understandably gun-shy due to being burned by Fitz's deal in the past and because they are up against the cap. So they trade a walk-year QB and a second rounder to move up to the #2 spot in the draft to take Goff, who they would then have for four or five years on the cheap.

I'm just saying, if Goff is really that good (I have no idea), it's not a bad idea.
It is STUPID!  With both Rex and Whaley on the hot seat, aka make the playoffs or you're both fired, why in world would they make that type of deal?

For NFL draft eve, it's pretty dead in here... Where's all the projections, hopes, fears? I'm pretty pumped for tomorrow. So many players that could make a huge impact. (Surely that means the Bills will make a huge reach, and leave us all scratching our heads, right?  )

Anyway, I put together my dream draft.

Any thoughts?

Nice job. Love the Adams pick, although I worry he may go before that. I think people are sleeping on him.
Yeah, he's a tough one to predict. Most of what I've seen call for him to be a Rd 6 or 7 guy, but you never know. A team isn't risking much to reach for that sort of player in round 4 or 5 if they like him.

I think it's safe to say a front 7 on D goes first to the Bills.  I personally would think and want Darron Lee to go in 1st round, as he would be a tackling play maker stud on this D

Love the Sheldon Day pick too. He seems very underrated going into the draft. I watched a lot of ND games over his career and I can see him being an 8-10 sack guy as a 3-4 DE, which is great for anyone not named "Watts."

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rex snatching him up in the 3rd. Maybe even the 2nd round.

I also PRAY they go LB with their first round pick....but I have a terrible feeling Whaley is going to panic with all the Tyrod contract nonsense in the air, and pick Paxton Lynch.

We need LBs though. Rex's system demands quality LBs to work, and we have NONE.

Considering they are on the hot seat, I just don't see them taking a QB in the first 3 rounds. They need to plug some holes to make a push for the playoffs.

If Jack somehow falls to them. Oh sweet baby Jesus...I'd be ecstatic about Lee too. Unfortunately don't see either of them making it that far. Ragland? Ehhhh...would rather have Shaq.

Also wouldn't be surprised to see them go with Nkemdiche or Spence.

Him or Myles Jack. Screw the longterm risk, Jack is going to be a stud now.

It sounds like I am in the minority, but I think that Ragland is going to be a stud interior LB. I'd rather build there, move Preston back outside, and take DL help a bit later.

On a semi-related note, does anyone else find it find that a defensive "genius" is presumably going to draft heavy on defense, adding to an already very talented defense? Shouldn't a defensive HC draft offense, and use his brilliant schemes to improve the defense? I'm not just talking about Rex here. You see it all the time...

I read up more on Ragland. I'm sold. Hoping they draft a LB. DE would be fine too. Anything else will be boring and/or infuriating...They need an immediate impact player to be a Day 1 starter.

I think Shaq is going to be good contributor for someone.

I don't know anything about evaluating NFL talent, so he might be super quick, but when I watch highlights of him, he looks slow.

All 3 of these guys are still on the board. Bills going to get a very good player at 19. Still really hope it ends up being Myles Jack.

Love the pick Bills fans.  Shaq was my favorite pass rusher from this draft.  I thought he was a top-ten pick.  Great value where you got him IMHO.

Good first round pick.

I wouldn't be opposed to them trading up in the second to snag Reggie Ragland to man the middle. I know Jack is there, but microfacture surgery is a chaos gambit. If they want to roll the dice like that, I'd much rather see them trade a 4th this year and something next year to move up and grab Ragland, then hopefully snag Jaylon Smith in the 3rd.

Ragland is sliding because of a aorta issue I assume.  I'd think up next for the Bills would be linebacker.  I'd think they would consider USC's Cravens or LSU's Jones if they want linebacker.  I'd safely predict a linebacker will be drafted today by the Bills in 2nd/3rd.  Wonder if QB will go today though

"The pick, however, continues an odd trend for Ryan, who has not been the head coach of a team that has used a first-round pick (or top second-round pick if No. 1 is unavailable) on an offensive player since 2009. That was the year the New York Jets drafted Mark Sanchez. "

I really like Ragland, so I guess I'd be happy if they find a way to land him, but I sure would like some OL help. There's a few guys still on the board that could make an immediate impact. At the very least they need depth. The OL never stays healthy.

A second and 2 fourth round picks for Ragland. Maybe a bit steep to move up 8 spots, but the Bills now have 2 defensive starters from the draft.

Steep(ish)... This year's 4 is a bit expendable, in a way, since they still have one. 4 is starting to get into that range of total crap-shoot, IMO, so I don't mind. A future 4 is kind of like a 6 this year, by the "calculator", right?

I'd really like to add OL depth, or even an upgrade at RT before the night is over. I'd be willing to give up that other 4th if it could land Le'Raven Clark.

I wouldn't mind seeing 2 Buckeyes added for the Bills: Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones both have homerun upside.

Or heck, I would look at Connor Cook here in the 3rd.

I don't want Cook or Cardale. I was trying to find a way to work Braxton into my projection, and I wouldnt be opposed at all, but OL... OL... OL... It could kill the season, with one injury.

Are you F'ing kidding me? More front 7 on Defense? Seriously?

This guy is a defensive genius. If all you draft is defense, it's bound to be decent...

I'd love for them to take Connor Cook in the fourth, but I suspect he'll be gone by the time the Bills pick at 139 (it's really a high 5th rounder). Jones may be there though.

They need someone besides Manuel holding a clipboard. If it weren't for Manuel's ####ty play, they would have had a winning record last year, maybe even have snuck into the playoffs.

Glad to see other disapproving of the "defensive genius" draft all defensive players.

Rant about Rex erased but I'm not happy.

This doesn't make much sense to me. They took a ton of offensive players the last 2 years. They lost a ton of defensive players this year and needed to add guys that were a better fit for the defense Rex wants to run.

I don't really love the Washington pick, but that's more because I don't like Washington more than not liking that he's a defensive player. The Bills were incredibly thin in the front 7 and even thinner when you consider Kyle Williams's age and mileage. Those picks pretty much fill out their front 7. It's not like they were really luxury picks.

They could use another S for depth, but really the only other true need is some help on the offensive line. A swing at a QB would be nice, but it's not a truly urgent need.

Rex came in and had a high end defense handed to him. But instead of running the same system that worked with the players he had, he ran his defense (despite not having the proper personnel) and thus the defense was significantly worse last year.

Now he "has to" retool the defensive with all three first round picks plus basically a fourth round pick from this year and a fourth round pick from next year. If his scheme is that amazing then he should be able to fill it with 3rd round and later picks that are weaker all around but strong in the one area they need to be.

Is Tyrod the future? Who knows. Are we really excited about the WRs after Watkins? *Doctson would've been perfect for Tyrod. That's my opinion but there's a few other WRs that I think would've made sense too.* Is everyone fine with the OL? No issues there?

Mostly it just bothers me that this "amazing defensive mind" fails with top end defense from the year before then has to spend a ton of draft capital to run this system. I want to say "maybe they are just taking BPA" but they traded up for Ragland.

Other than Mario, who did they lose that's significant? McKelvin? They did nothing to replace him.

The pick of Lawson is a step forward for the team compared to Mario. That's all they really NEEDED to address in the first 3 rounds.

The defense sure as heck better be dominant. They might need to be if the OL gets banged up and half the offensive drives are 3-and-outs.

Not sure if these top 5 QB prospects remaining are going to be available when the Bills pick next.  They don't have much ammo to trade up unless they trade a player for a higher pick than what they have coming up....

1. Connor Cook, Michigan State
2. Dak Prescott, Mississippi State
3. Vernon Adams, Oregon
4. Cardale Jones, Ohio State
5. Kevin Hogan, Stanford

There's a few pretty good WR's still available .....

1. Rashard Higgins, Colorado State
2. Malcolm Mitchell, Georgia
3. Pharoh Cooper, South Carolina
4. Tajae Sharpe, UMass

.... so maybe one of these guys will go to the Bills?  I see the rest of the talent on D, which I don't think we'll see, unless there's a Safety the Bills like, such as.....

1. Jeremy Cash, Duke
2. Miles Killebrew, Southern Utah
3. Tyvis Powell, Ohio State
4. K.J. Dillon, West Virginia

The Jones pick makes a lot of sense as he still needs time to develop while they still have two QBs already on the roster, but in the last year of their deals.  A late 4th round pick with a potential huge upside?  Sounds good to me.

I guess, if you think he has any potential...
