2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (2 Viewers)

I think the Bills offense is similar to the Eagles were with Vick after Kelley came in.

Manuel - Vick

Watkins - Jackson

Woods - Maclin/Cooper

Spiller+Jackson - McCoy

I think it would be fair to say that offensive scheme and player talent are both superior in Philly but I think the comparison is closer than someone might think at first glance. The Bills and Eagles were one and two in rush yards per game. The Bills were 28th in pass yards per game and the Eagles 9th. If Watkins can step into a Desean Jackson type role it could make a huge difference. Even if Watkins runs his two routes, a screen and a 9, and that's it (a little tongue-in-cheek here) it should be enough to keep defences honest. Manuel doesn't need to be pin point on a screen and doesn't need to be overly in sync with Watkins to throw a 9 route. They can work the chains with the run game and Woods and use Watkins as a big play target.

If this is how Bills management feels then the trade for Watkins was worth it. I think the Bills have a better defence than the Eagles too. I want to see the Bill in the playoffs!!!
I am not disagreeing with you about the talent, but the big question is does Doug Marrone = Chip Kelly? The Eagles were not successful last year because of their talent, but how Kelly used that talent.

Screw it. I'm done. I can't take the torture anymore. It's not even fair.

(Kiko Alsonso tore his ACL and is done for the season)

Trying to find a silver lining over the Alonso injury. This lowers the expectations for the entire team which helps Manuel in a certain way by taking some of the huge pressure off of him this year. This also allows the linebacking corps to step up and not be so dependent on one guy as it was last year.

It probably also helps the fantasy value of all the offensive players because they'll be playing from behind most of the time.

No Doug and Chip are not equal. I used "scheme" instead of coaching because I don't think Marrone is a bad coach but I don't think he has the same ability as Kelly to create a scheme like the Eagles have. I think there is enough game tape on the Eagles offense for the Bills to steal and adapt off of it though.

I got a text when I was working "Man, that sucks about Kiko."

It's one this to watch the game winning TD get dropped or the kick miss but when this crap is happening during the offseason it's brutal.

Hang in there Mr. Diesel. We've been through worse.

Potential owner Donald Trump looking over Bills financials

Rotoworld:

The Bills' financial advisers have begun distributing the organization's financial information to prospective buyers.
The information is being distributed through a "virtual data room" that only prospective bidders will be able to access. The financial information will allow potential buyers to gauge the organization's financial position and prepare bids. Donald Trump's camp already confirmed they received the information. Sabers owner Terry Pegula, ex-Sabers owner Tom Golisano, and a consortium led by rocker Jon Bon Jovi have also been linked with the organization.

This Cordy Glenn thing makes me really nervous, Smells like the Chris Hairston deal from last year. Weird that there never was a single clue about what was wrong with Hairston and now it's super secret about whatever is going on with Glenn. Not good.

I went last night, Watkins looked the part for sure. Catches everything. Worried about McMelvin and Searcy in the secondary though.
McKelvin is still not 100% from his hip surgery. I'm not worried about him. I'd like to see Williams beat out Searcy, but I'm not sure that will happen. I think Searcy is somewhat capable, but his athleticism is somewhat limited

He also had a higher percentage of short passes (10 yards or less) than all of those guys.

Alot of McKelvin's strides last year were part because of the scheme and the blitzing tendencies. He'll have to cover longer this year and hopefully he continues to make strides in making a play on the ball in air because his awareness isn't the best. Searcy is best served as a blizing SS or the nickel LB. I really hope Duke Williams makes strides in camp and actually takes over that starting SS spot with Aaron Williams roaming around whose looked great in camp thus far.

He also was the only rookie besides Smith.

The tweets from this morning's practice don't sound very encouraging that Manuel has made strides in the accuracy department.

This is all fairly negative about the offense. Ideally, you want to hear about amazing plays from players on both sides of the ball instead of this kind of stuff. Realistically though, the defense should be dominating the offense at this point.

Unless and offense is a well oiled machine already defenses tend to have the advantage to open camps. As the timing and concept execution develops things should improve.

The only thing that is actually worrisome is Manuel walking around with his head down. QB is such a mental game that he can't have those seeds of doubt creeping in.

Looks like Marcell and Branch passed their physcials and should practice this weekend. Now we wait on Goodell if he's going to suspend Dareus or not. If Rice got 2 games, Dareus will get 4 - Goodell logic.

better now than in week 1.

The first round of bids are in. Only 3 bids were submitted:

Pegula's

Trump's

Toronto/Bon Jovi's.

At least one bid was over $1B!
So what happens with Pegula? If he wins the bid, does he have to sell the Sabres? Or is that only if he owns another league franchise in another city?

Pegula just sold some land for like $1.7 billion of cash. I think he legit wants to buy the team.

If he buys the Bills and keeps them here, he immediately becomes a god.

Now Bradham, Kiko's replacement at WLB has been suspended for a game by the NFL. Not clear if it's for a new incident or for his August pot bust last August.

Fred Jackson just got an extension... no word yet whether this was done for salary cap reasons or whether they really want him back another year. I suspect the former given that there wouldn't have been much of a market next off-season for a 34-year old RB, but who knows with this organization.

I think they have around $8 mil in space already- what do they need the space for?

There could be a bunch of different angles to this. I'm assuming they restructured for the purpose of cap space this year. They have 8 million in cap space this year so they do have some wiggle room. Maybe they're working on trading for a good but overpaid player.

I'm a little upset that they didn't go after Eric Winston. He might not the best tackle but he's started every game for every team he's played for. Except his rookie year.
