2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (1 Viewer)

What’s really disturbing, is that Joe Buscaglia heavily implies that the reason the Bills keep running it up the gut over and over is because Mcdermott wants it, not because Daboll wants it. If that’s the case, that is a real issue.

Not having Allen throw more and not using Allen as the primary runner was inexcusable and an abject failure. If McDermott’s view I’d success is running the ball unsuccessfully up the middle over and over and over again, this team is doomed.
As a Penn State fan, I've lived that frustration on Saturdays as well. Our running game sucked this year and the OC wanted to pass a lot more but Franklin kept making him call runs. Very frustrating. Let your OC call his game.

Jacksonville loss - the team will use this to come together.

Indy blowout - this isn’t who we are

NE loss - this will motivate us

TB loss - I am proud of how we came together.

This is getting old.

That being said, I don’t mind the Bills at +250 to win the division. They will be a small dog against NE and only need NE to lose at Indy or Mia. I am assuming the Bills will win their other three which might be asking too much.

I feel like that game was a perfect summary of the entire season to this point. Extreme swings in level of play, complete inability to stop the running game at times, total game mis-management, an O-line that is totally inept for the entire first half and then good enough the second half, and Josh Allen doing his absolute best to try to drag the corpse of a team to a win. Oh, and penalty/ref decisions that made huge swings in the game.

Here’s a fun one: Edmunds hitting Fournette clean 2 yards short of the 1st down marker on that critical 3rd and short in OT.

Of course Fournette got free and was given the benefit of the doubt on the spot after Poyer stuck Fournette and took him down by himself at the marker.

When it comes down to putting money towards fixing the O-line or paying Edmunds, I certainly hope the Bills make the correct call and invest in the O-line. I get that Edmunds is still very young and that his athleticism gives him a high ceiling, but he just doesn’t have the fierceness to defeat blocks, make stick tackles, often overpursues, etc. He is replacement level or slightly above overall. Virtually every big run against Buffalo you can see Edmunds making a mistake or simply being defeated.

The officiating last night was so frustrating, but at least it wasn't an elimination situation. I'm still hopeful this team can go on a run. They are currently very healthy compared to most other teams. There is the one major exception, but again, many other teams have much worse health situations. Hopefully Josh's foot is ok. Turf toe is nothing to dismiss.

The remaining schedule is very favorable, so I'm not too worried about missing the playoffs.

Anyway, if Josh is healthy enough to play to his potential, and Star gets back in the lineup, this team can go toe to toe with any team in the NFL.

So... I still Billieve.

Yeah, I saw that right after I posted. Hopefully that's not a sign of things to come over the next couple days.
With how fast this new variant is being spread, and knowing that Dawkins was immunized plus already had Covid, things are not looking great.

The new protocols make it possible he could still play Sunday, but have to think that there are more positives right around the corner.

I think we all need to be psychologically prepared for a wild card game in which Cole Beasley is our only healthy WR.  That would be a very 2021 Bills type thing.

My god. What a bunch of babies. There were several calls missed that hurt Tampa as well that would have likely salted the game away much earlier.
Nothing says "We're totally not babies" like getting all worked up over another team's playful response to some unambiguously awful calls that probably flipped the outcome of the game.

This is very bad.
And he’s apparently unvaxed which means he’s out for sure. And I think out for 10 days which means next game too? (Don’t really know the current new rules).

And Ford is actually a pretty big loss too since they’re already missing so many linemen. Not even sure who will be starting now. What a disaster. And all because these these guys didn’t get vaccinated.

He is unvaccinated.

From the Twitters:

Gabriel Davis went from potential fantasy football savior to droppable fantasy dumb ### in the span of 24 hrs.

Insert standard caveat here: I hope his symptoms are mild and he recovers quickly...

Beasley was saying this summer that he was speaking up for the young guys who didn’t want to get the vaccine and they couldn’t speak up for themselves.  I figured Davis was on the list he was referencing.

Need to see a lot of Allen runs and everything needs to be short range. And that is not Daboll’s usual passing game. Longer routes this week and Allen is going to get sacked a bunch.

Dawkins is activated which is really good news. Depending on whether the Bills prefer Boettger over Feliciano (Joe Buscaglia indicates they do), then Buffalo will have their preferred offensive line out there for just the 2nd time all season.

He's activaed, or he's cleared the protocol?

Welp, sounds like he’s not really ready to play though. Not out there with the starting unit during warmups. Gonna be another game of Brown at LT, Williams at RT and Bates at RG.

That’s….not ideal. Basically 3 positions all seeing significant downgrades due to one guy not playing. Would almost rather see them just take a huge downgrade at LT and stick Doyle there but keep your other positions with their starters.

Yuck. The young DEs blew 2 plays in a row there. Rousseau not holding his ground allowing the huge convert on 4th down and Obada on the very next play caught inside flat footed and allowed Harris to easily get outside and run unimpeded to the endzone.

Buffalo’s 3 best wide receivers right now IMO: Diggs, Davis, and McKenzie. They’re the 3 most dynamic receivers Buffalo has. Sanders and Beasley have both lost a step and both have had the dropsies all year.

Allen and McKenzie both played fantastic games, but what I was most pleasantly surprised by was the offensive line performance. They held up rather well today and gave Allen the time he needed to make plays.

I still think the ultimately need upgrades at the left guard and center positions in the off-season, but they got it done today even after Boettger’s season ending injury.

As a non-Buffalovian, err. non-Wagon-circler, can somebody tell what the back story is here

@ByTimGraham: Jordan Poyer screaming “Where that Jerry Sullivan at? What the ####’s he got to say?” as the safety walks to the locker room.

Which is an interesting thing to have on the top of one’s mind coming off a football field.

Wild guess:

Poyer's wife went to social media complaining of his Pro Bowl snuff... Maybe Sullivan responded to her saying his position off the Pro Bowl roster was justified. Or, maybe he predicted a NE win in this game...

When the Bills lost to the Pats 3 weeks ago Sullivan asked Poyer/Hyde if they were embarrassed to lose to a team that passed only 3 times.
They took objection to the question and commented that they only gave up 14 pts.

It was a dumb question but their reaction was over the top also. They have a lot of pride in this defence (for good reason). They could have just gone with the one word answer “no”

Oh... I didn't know that that was Sullivan that asked that question. I certainly remember their reaction, so it all makes sense now.

For the record too, Jerry Sullivan is a Boston guy who is a notorious Buffalo media ####-stirrer (to clarify, he's from Boston but is a longtime Buffalo sports media reporter).  The Poyer comments are definitely in reference to the postgame press conference the other day though.

3 things I love about the win:

1) The Bills are now in 1st place in the division and have 2 very winnable games to clinch

2) Today was the first time ever a team went up against Belichick and didn’t punt once

3) WEEI is apparently melting down with a huge amount of focus on the picked up personal foul flag with one guy even saying it’s clear the league is rigged because of that call :lmao:

Yeah, I’d say that Poyer is playing right into Sullivan’s hands by being so thin skinned. Sullivan is a bit of a troll and undoubtedly loves that this has become about him.

😂. Would it be wrong to call their show this week and mention that Brady is still getting BS calls against the Bills while they aren’t?
