2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (2 Viewers)

DeRozan does have a funky game that’s kinda tougher to build around, along with questionable playoff success based on his style.

He’s killing it this year though, never woulda though it, interested to see how the Bulls perform in the playoffs assuming they’re all healthy.
I was told this exercise was based on this year alone.  DD is the leader, and will get MVP votes.  He is killing it this year.

Dame is has been the engine of a top offense in the league almost all by himself.  Beal is nowhere near the on all creator or shooter that same is.

dame alone is a top 10 offense (or at least has been).  Not so with beal

I don’t think it’s based on the results of this year alone.  It’s that the hypothetical season will be played this year.

This is where we will draft 10 man rosters and then do some kind of voting to see who has the best equipped team to win the NBA Championship this year. Salaries don't matter, age doesn't matter, potential doesn't matter, injuries don't matter, 2023 doesn't matter. All we are trying to do is win this year's championship against each other.
I interpret this to mean that guys that suck so far this year will likely suck for the season unless they turn it around.  Injured guys are going to be very rusty and idiots will continue to be idiots.  You have to have the best team to win the 2022 playoffs this June (in 4-5 months), including get your team to the playoffs with seeding implications over the next 3 months.

For this contest, you aren't getting 2018 Klay, Lillard or Irving...you get the 2022 version with their performance (or lack thereof) over the past 4 months taken into account.
Kyrie averaged 27/6/5 last year on 50/40/90 shooting, and now Frosty has found a cure for COVID. We good.

Kyrie has played 5 games so far and has shot 50/33/100, averaging 22/5/5.  He also has a history of aloofness and general odd behavior that can show up at any moment which has nothing to do with injuries.

I love my wife, but if we have to work together I'm getting a divorce.
My wife works at my firm. In no universe will we ever come remotely close to the same team. Especially since I'm a level up (and will be for ~8 years if we both stay that long)

That's pretty great for showing up basically off the street not playing any games or practicing. If he doesn't get hurt last year, Brooklyn likely cruises to the title. I know he's a questionable pick (and a generally unlikeable dude), but picking in the back half of the draft I gotta zag a little bit and go with some star upside, that's what wins in the NBA, and Kyrie when on is special.

Man they got like nothing in the trade for him either. I don't remember the exact events that surrounded his departure, don't wanna spotlight anyone, but was that deal considered good at the time? @Frostillicus

It was not great but the twolves were prioritizing the present, plus everyone knew they had to trade him.  It was not a typical trade for a player of his caliber.  I don’t think anyone thought it was good but i guess it was considered ok based the wolves constraints.  Covington was definitely valuable at that time.

Then the sixers traded 58 1sts for Tobias harris, gave him a max contract and let Jimmy walk because they needed to placate the guy who now refuses to play for them.  It was the best

I read this as we want to form the best team to win the championship at the end of the season, not if the playoffs started today. There’s still a second half of the season to play for guys like Kyrie, Klay, Bam to get back up to speed (and not get hurt again). I’m not expecting 2018 Klay, but we’re also not just assuming they’re only playing 5 games for the season either.

Im sure everyone will have slightly different criteria in their judging, so it’s good more people will be involved in the rankings (I hope).

He was a #### and threw a fit in practice. He absolutely had to go, and I, at least, really didn't care what they got for him as long as they traded him.

Covington played well here and was sent out as part of the trade that brought them a couple nice players, so they ended up ok.

Exactly how I looked at it.

Sorry for the delay. Looking at my board and what's left, think I have to look at getting a big wing to pair with Curry that can shoot, play defense and still create his own shot when needed. And getting another guy with championship experience is a nice plus too.
