I read it more like, nepotism is common and has been happening all along, so it's a bit weak to be complaining about it just in this particular case. I'm not saying I agree with him.

I mean, just look at the ownership group of the team that drafted him (along with other team owners). Nepotism? Gasp!

How many brothers of star players have been taken to appease or attract those players - Giannis x2, Boozer, Durant, Milsap, etc.

Yeah - I was going to mention Max Lewis (last years pick) probably played like 10 minutes last year.
 
Meanwhile season tickets for the South Bay Lakers are already sold out.

Summer league will be crazy - just like in Lonzo’s first year.

I’d be shocked if he doesn’t play in the G League, if only to get reps while he sits on the big league bench. They did that with their first rounder last year.

As a Laker-hater I've been pretty happy with their offseason even if I didn't like Knecht falling to them.

It could have been worse. They could have traded for Trae Young or something like that.
 
I know hitting on second round picks doesn't happen often, but here are some recent ones that worked out: Jalen Brunson, Malcolm Brogdon, Nikola Jokic, and Khris Middleton. Fifteen second round picks went on to score 15,000 points (Jokic will be next). Alex English is the only one to break 25,000 (and ranks 22nd in most points scored).

The Magic traded pick 47 to NO for 2030 and 2031 second round pick swaps.

More importantly, that was the only second round pick that had been held by its original team. Every single second round pick in this years draft was traded at some point.

His scouting report by The Ringer has so many of the under-athletic white big man tropes. It's fantastic. Hustle. Feel. (Those two are in the graphic) . Fundamental. Active. Slow-footed.

PLUSES
  • Elite screener who sets fundamental picks at different angles to spring shooters open, whether it’s off the ball or a pick-and-roll.
  • Thrives in handoff actions because he can make smart decisions as a passer, dribbler, or shooter. If the handoff transforms into a ball screen, he’s good at rescreening into a roll to the rim or popping up for a 3.
  • As a career 78 percent guy from the line at Clemson, he has good potential. Though he’s made only 32.6 percent of his 3s, he has soft touch from the midrange and the line. It’d be surprising if that number doesn’t go up.

Not sure if this is supposed to be sarcasm, but some actual good NBA players on this list. That has to be a higher than average hit rate.

Wolves traded Wendell Moore to Detroit along with the 37 for #53. Hopefully he can get some run in Detroit. Wasn't ever able to put it together with the Wolves and there's no more roster space for him.

The white guy tropes always give me a laugh i.e. deceptively fast, scrappy, high basketball IQ, great fundamentals, gym rat, etc. After the draft everyone was comparing Reed Sheppard to Mark Price or Jimmer Fredette. Why not Chauncey Billups or Steph Curry?

Teams that play that game are foolish. 99% of players go where they can get the most money.

Treat players, coaches, and staff with respect and run a professional organization. Do that and you'll be able to hire, and retain, good people. Do that and the right types of winning players will be much more likely to be on the roster via draft, trade, and free agency. Appeasing agents is a fool's errand.
