2024-25 NBA Thread: ESPN ready to debate if Warriors blowing 3-1 lead to meager Rockets diminishes LeBron’s legacy (34 Viewers)

What’s the worst team of all time? And will this year’s Wizards team take that title?
Obvious answer would be the 9-73 sixers, or arguably the 7-59 bobcats, though I don’t know if they were truly the worst in terms of quality. The 92 Mavs were 11-71 and have the worst point differential of all time, so I would definitely consider them.

The wizards could make a run for it though. They took a 15 win team and probably made it worse for this year so….

Nuggets probably have 1.5 more games to figure out what the **** is going on before they are going to be forced to make big changes.

I mostly hated the Westbrook signing but mostly liked the Saric signing (liked the fit thought the second year and the salary were dumb). Not sure which has been worse, but the combination definitely isn't working. Their terrible play and Watson's rust is trashing Watson's play too.

I'm two quarters from going into full panic mode.

There’s no shame in losing to Toronto

Franz clearly sick and couldn't go past halftime tonight. Brutal offense without him.

Glad Orlando didn't address this obvious area of concern in offseason. #lightyears

Just dropping in to say I never heard them before, but the Raptors TV announcers are the worst I have ever heard in hoops. Second worst overall behind Sterling and Susan. Oof

Peter denied Jesus 3x and he gets to watch the gates. But I still don't feel great about this post

Last year I got league pass, because I live in Cincinnati. I was so annoyed when Indy and Cleveland and Memphis were blacked out.

I live in the Bermuda triangle for ****ty NBA apparently
Same. I can't watch Spurs games vs Atlanta, New Orleans, or Memphis, and I don't live within 175 miles of any.

To be fair, I should move.

Nuggets Raptors going to OT. Scotty Barnes took a shot to the head earlier, and has been in the locker room since. Denver has all the mo. The color guy for Toronto sounds like Rick Pitino's ret....special needs cousin.

Bobcats are a common answer and they still got screwed out of the top pick.

oh, if you are talking about Jack Armstrong, yes, he is probably the most annoying around. i think he only does select games, unless something has changed. the play by play guy seems ok.

Saw an interesting stat that so far this season, Cam Payne has more FGA (26) than KAT (25). Doesn’t seem ideal for the Knicks.

This made me look up the worst Wolves team of all-time, figuring they would have a contender.

1991-92 Timberwolves were 15-67. Their coach was Jimmy Rodgers, who was fired early the next season after a 6-23 start and would never be a head coach at any level ever again. The Wolves hired him after he was fired by the Celtics after 2 years and a 2-6 playoff record. Those were the only 2 seasons he had ever been an NBA head coach.

Their starting lineup wasn't the worst (Pooh Richardson, Doug West, Tony Campbell, and Felton Spencer), however the bench was led by Scottie Brooks, Gerald Glass, Thurl Bailey, Randy Breuer, Luc Longley, Tod Murphy, and Mark Randall - that is a lot of big white stiffs.

Following the season, the Wolves were jumped in the lottery by the Magic, who take franchise changing Shaquille O'Neal, and the Hornets, who took franchise changing Alonzo Mourning. Leaving the Wolves with Christian Laettner as a final kick in the balls to that season. He would lead the team to 19, 20, and 21 wins the next three seasons before being traded to the Hawks for Spud Webb (played 26 games for the Wolves and then fled to play in Italy) and Andrew Lang (played 20 games for the Wolves and then was traded to the Bucks for a 1st round pick which became Rasho Nesterovic - the only positive thing in this entire post).

Worst season in franchise history for all 30 franchises (even if they had a different name at the time). Never would have guessed that the Jazz had the best worst record.

Shams update on Porzingis: already moving and shooting well (but not back to contact situations). BOS now looking at a December return or even in November. He is on a schedule that has certain milestones he has to hit in his rehab but is way ahead of schedule with no setbacks or issues so far.

Crazy that Boston's record breaking pace of three pointers made will only get an additional jolt when Porzingis is taking minutes away from non shooters Kornet/Tillman/Queta

The good news is that they have a (partial) built in solution that they'll get in Middleton. The bad news is that Middleton is always hurt so that solution might not last long.

Jokic with a Robertson-esque triple double last night...but that game was won with Russell Westbrook's stellar play off the bench (22 pts, 5 asst in 21 mins).

The game was won because Finney Smith bricked up a wiiiiiide open corner three to win it at the buzzer

Great defensive strategy by Nuggets putting game in hands of someone who was 1-7 3pts on the night and only 6-11 FT's.

It was such bad defense. Braun gets absolutely blown by, Jokic only half heartedly helped to stop the drive, yet somehow still managed to not get anywhere close to Finney Smith on the three.

Lol. Braun knew he had backside help from AG who was going to put any Schroder lay-up attempt into the 15th row. Schroder's only option was to pass it to the brick layer. Brilliant.

Kings have lost close games to good teams in LAL and MIN, blew out two bad teams in UTA and POR. Last year, they definitely would have won the games against the good teams and fumbled away the games against the bad teams. I think I'd prefer this version of the team that (hopefully) can stay more consistent.

He actually had 3 available passes. Giving up a wide open corner three is never the defensive strategy.

A timeout was called right before the last play. I'm quite confident the Nuggets discussed a strategy of who they did and did not prefer taking the last shot. They didn't need a defender draped all over a guy who is effectively a self-check.

Nice comeback for the Celtics. This is the Jason Tatum I enjoy watching. Not sure what happened to him late last year but this is almost a different player.

I remember that Mavs team. It was.....wooof
Mike Iuzzolino was the poor man's Scott Brooks.

lol....I had such high hopes for Sean Rooks. RIP big fella.

That Dallas team was so bad Jimmy Jackson held out after they drafted him until March. :lmao:
Pretty sure my memory bank accurately remembers seeing Jason Kidd, Jim Jackson, and Jamal Mashburn come rolling into town back in the day. I don't think Finley was there yet.

Fun times.

Correct. Finley was drafted by the Suns. He got traded to Dallas in the trade that sent Kidd to Phoenix.

why was he on the court?

Missed the game but looking at the box score, Jaylen Brown was ungood. 11/30 with 1/11 from 3. Scored 25 pts but used 35 possessions to get there. That's pretty bad.

Because he is a god basketball player who missed a shot

I'm really impressed with Bilal's offensive improvement this year. He's developed a mid-range pull-up jumper off the dribble that looks so smooth. I noticed it some in preseason. And he's much more confident going to the rim and finishing strong. Last year, most of his shots looked pretty awkward. His defense was already good last year and has also improved. He's going to be a premier defender.

I love how many minutes they are giving their young guys. It's going to lead to some really rough nights, especially against the better teams, but it's what they need to do. And it at least makes them worth watching even if they are losing. According to last night's broadcast, Sarr, Carrington, and George are top three in MPG among rookies. Kuz was out last night, which resulted in their youngest starting lineup ever. Poole was the oldest at 25.
