I believe the players union is 100% against taking undermarket contracts, such as Lebron taking a vet's minimum because of the precedent it sets or something. I can't really back this up with anything but I do believe I remember reading something like that.
I read that Isaiah Hartenstein really wants to stay with the Knicks. He is very happy with his situation, the city, with Thibs and with his teammates. The Knicks are strapped cap wise so they probably can't keep him at his market value.
He supposedly mentioned that he would be willing to sign for a lower salary--and he got
immediate pushback from players across the league, the union and several agents.
The edict is always: you never leave money on the table. Never.
