2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (5 Viewers)

I was 15 yrs old when the Eagles beat Dallas at the Vet to advance to their first SB. Wilbert Montgomery had around 197 yds rushing. Jaworski was decent. Tough as hell. Carmichael was awesome. Bergey was playing lights out. Tony Franklin was the NFL's first barefoot kicker.

They were crushed by the Raiders in SBXV. Raiders players went out partying the night before the game. All Eagles players stayed in their hotels and got rested up. The partiers brought the heat. The slumberers were flat.

Yeah Jaws tossing 3 INTs didn't help either...

Feels weird that outside of divisional rival fans, a larger portion of neutral fans might be cheering for Philly in this game. Not used to that.

Sirianni will pull the loyalty card with Elliott.

And Elliott hasn't been all that bad. Sure, he is struggling a bit this year. We all know it. The Eagles really just need to score TD's instead of settling for FG's. That would solve at least 65-70% of Elliots issues this season. (Extra points still iffy.) Only one game left. Give Elliott the off-season to get back to his basics. At a time when he is not under pressure to fix himself right away.

To go along with funny statistics, AJ Brown has now been in as many Super Bowls as Trenton Burke has TD receptions. That is only counting after the trade for AJ, though I don’t think TeNN made it to any Super Bowls while AJ was there.

Ouch Tenn

I can't believe, for the next two weeks, we have to hear about 3-peat, over and over and over. Already annoyed with it.
We did good after hearing nothing but Jayden Daniels hype for a week. I’m good not getting the attention.
Aside from a few threads on this board, I'm not paying attention to football-related content until a few minutes before kickoff.

Same. I’m gonna enjoy and soak up these next two weeks.

Only coaching job left is Saints. Not sure Moore will want that mess to be his first head coaching job unless they pay him Ben Johnson money.
“The Saints are flying to Philadelphia tonight to interview Kellen Moore for the head coaching job, per sources.

They will interview him tonight.”

If you're Kellen Moore, do you even want that job? They got serious cap issues.

No chance. That’s a **** show of a franchise currently.

That's why I said if they pay him Ben Johnson money. Doesn't matter the situation at that point. You take the job and hope for the best.

Talk in the media is Brandon Graham will be activated off IR for the SB52
Listened to the Brandon Graham show tonight and he played pretty coy but sounded like he was leaning toward playing. I will be shocked if he doesn’t suit up.
Yeah, I thought for sure he’d announce it tonight.

Listened to an orthopedic surgeon talk about the timeline of the return. Normal human beings would be about 6 months. Elite athletes you could say 4 months. 2 months would be really quick.

But the biggest thing is just that there’s a risk of re-injury to the repair. He’ll probably wear a brace to restrict his ROM, but if he isn’t planning on coming back next year, it might be worth the risk of an injury to play in LIX. I’d love for BG to make it back.

Really hope we don't lose him. New co-ordinators usually need a year to get used to the system, I don't want to have a brand new one AGAIN next year.

Why not just do it when the Eagles fly to New Orleans this week?

Monday was an off day for the team. The rest of the time between now and the SB will be prepping for KC.

Getting that possible distraction for him out of the way, instead of waiting until they are in the middle of game week, is probably best.

Why interview for that job is the better question.
millions of dollars?
Maybe. According to this, he's already pulling in $2.5 million (third highest paid OC in the NFL). If I were him I would try to win the Super Bowl this year, assume that another year of this offense is going to only do great things (upping your desirability to other teams), and see what job openings are available at the end of next season. Almost guaranteed to have better options next year.

I often asked the same, but there are only 32 jobs available and of those a small handful each year. For some of these coaches, their window is very small so they grab what they can when they can. Personally, being a head coach sounds like a nightmare. I'd rather be a Jim Johnson type, be great at your job and stay there forever.

I'm sure Bobby Slowik thought the same thing. He went from hot commodity to unemployed coordinator in a year.

That makes logical sense but if NO throws $15m a year at him, how's he going to turn that down?

Slowik had one good year as an OC. Moore already has a pretty damn good resume and is about to toss a SB ring into the mix. Very different situations.

Answer - nobody is turning that down.

I get it. And I’m being a little hyperbolic; obviously if he can go from $2.5 to $15 million per year he’d be a fool to pass it up. Just saying if he has any sort of confidence in himself he has to believe that the Eagles offense next year is going to be great and that there are going to be better opportunities out there. We’ll see though.

Aren't the Saints in cap hell for a while? Seems like they should be looking for a bridge coach to suck for a year or so and then get their real choice when they're ready to reset. Not sure if you want your first HC opportunity somewhere where you're set up to fail.

I’d coach the Browns for $15M per year.

I wouldn’t touch the NOS job if I were Kellen. Just a bad situation: middling QB, aging core players, cap hell.

But the difference in money and scarcity of HC jobs makes sense Kellen might consider it. I hope he stays another year, but you never know what’s gonna motivate somebody.

The point is, all it takes is one bad year for teams to sour on candidates.

And you may only get one shot at being a head coach. Pick the right (or at least a decent) situation and coach your way, so you don't have regrets if things go wrong. (It would have worked if I went here instead... It would have worked if I had done it my way... etc...)
