2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (10 Viewers)

Don't feel good about winning that tie breaker. We need to win out, and Detroit would probably have to lose week 18 to the Vikings.
I also think we need the Vikings to lose once more, too. If they beat DET to help us but also win their other games, we lose the tiebreaker to them, also.
Are you sure? If Detroit and Minnesota were to win out except that last game, and Philly won out does Minnesotta hold the tiebreaker on Philly?
They would have both the same conference record. the Eagles and Vikings would both have two conference losses. I think they'd have the same record against common opponents too? Not sure how those are counted though as one of Minnesota losses would be to a team Philly beat (Rams)

Congrats guys - I kind of expected this was going to happen. Both teams had some injuries today so hoping nothing too serious for either team.

I can see why PIT gets so many turnovers. They came out hitting everything . . . hard.

I was surprised Tomlin punted at the Eagles 46, I would have gone for it. Felt like he was giving up there.
The Steelers clinched the playoffs today. If they’re fully healthy going into the playoffs they can take down anyone in the AFC. The Eagles are on another tier and the Steelers were not winning this game even at full strength.

Tomlin does this crap all the time. He concedes the game even when it’s not over. He’s a good coach but it’s inexplicable why he would not go for it there. But I’m used to it with him.
Was he though? There was more then 10 minutes left and they have a solid defense, AND were pinning the Eagles back deep. Who could foresee a 10+ minute drive to kill the game?

It was the 4th quarter and they were down by 14 with the ball at midfield. Punting at that point was surrendering the game. I thought that was obvious.

Time, place, score, you go for it there.

I think Minn wins in strength of schedule. Far as I know, Eagles lose all tie breakers to Det or Minn.

Though interesting. I used this for years:

And it has Eagles over Minn if they both win out, so now I'm not sure. Everything I was seeing last night said the opposite.

Yeah, not sure what the particulars are but right now our path to the 1-seed (assuming MIN wins tonight) is we have to go 15-2 and both DET & MIN have to lose one of their last 3 games. If we go 14-3, they both need to lose 2 of their last 3.

I even think odds-wise, by the projections, DET getting the 1 is still the most likely to occur with us getting the 1 or MIN getting the 1 both about the same odds. Would be just our luck that DET finally hits some bumps with a couple loses only for us to still miss out on the 1 because MIN runs the table.

I have no fear of going to either Detroit or Minnesota in the playoffs. The Eagles are the best team in the NFC (and probably the NFL) right now. Just stay healthy.

Yeah, the way this defense is playing is the main reason. Our 2017 and 2022 defenses against those teams in their domes? I would have nowhere near the same confidence.

I just messed around with it and if I set it to:

Eagles Winning out and Minny winning out, the Vikings get the 1 and we get the 2
Eagles Winning out and Detroit winning out, the Lions get the 1 and we get the 2

Most realistic/plausible view of us getting the 1 is obviously, us winning out and

-Lions beat the Bears and SF in weeks 16 and 17 but lose to the Vikings week 18.
-Vikings beat Chicago in week 16 and Lions week 18 but lose to the Packers in week 17.

If that occurs, we'd get the 1 with a 15-2 record, Detroit gets the 2 at 14-3 and Minny gets the 5 also at 14-3.

Love this! Shut the media up, good.

Winning is a helluva cologne. And Jalen had his best game of the year.
Winning only solves so much and in the nfl you can go from SB contender in 1 year to a bad team the next. We saw what happens with the SB winning team when you don’t get rid of the issues soon enough. But then again that team had a bunch of hired mercenaries and just kept them so long.

We’ll see what happens but I’m not counting det or anyone out because of injuries. We’ll see what had similar issues to Det when we won so we know how that turned out.

OIC, I didn't have them winning this week. Didn't realize they play tonight.

Onto Washington. Terry McClaurin is having a career year(yet somehow had 39 total receiving yards in 2 games against the Giants).

Guessing the stadium will be overrun with Eagles fans, going for 11th in a row.

Anything to see here?

Waiting on the injury report for Philly. This is the last best chance for the Eagles to lose a game for the rest of the season.

BG knew what he was doing

“Behind closed doors, we talked about it, We called each other out. It was very uncomfortable because we don’t want to feel like we’re getting attacked.”

AJ Brown says he and Jalen Hurts had some very deep, long and uncomfortable conversations this week to hash out the issues with the passing game. They hugged it out after a team meeting and after a practice and that helped the team. The Eagles showed they can win through the air and on the ground.

Jalen Hurts vs a top 5 defense tonight:

- 25/32 (78%)
- 290 passing yards
- 2 passing TDs
- 125.6 passer rating
- 46 rushing yards
- 1 rushing TD
- 0.35 EPA/play
- 17.1 total EPA
Steelers thought is was going to be the Barkley show, could tell early when Roberts was in on 3rd down(or 2nd and long). He cant cover, he is an against the run LB. And their corners are soft, Porter is scared to tackle anyone. Not having their SS was a loss too. And no Pickens means no WRs to worry about. I kinda knew Hurts was going to have a day, with all that made up BS about him and Brown(that was some nice media fake news). And the refs were certainly adding a few assists. But philly is good, maybe the best team in the NFC. I wouldnt mind a philly v buffalo super bowl(just no more KC Chiefs).
I'm a Steelers fan and can admit you guys outclassed the Steelers football-wise. Slay shoulda been ejected, and the head slap was before the punt, but I dont think it would have made a difference.
Eagles are miles ahead of the Steelers talent-wise, but we are least gaining. One more good draft and free agency, and Steelers might be in the top tier.

I get that, but I mean, lol, why was the guy blocking him thru the back of the end zone AFTER the whistle AND into the wall. I felt the officials did a good job of flagging folks and admit, Slay would have deserved a flag there. But I mean, refs can only help teams out so much when the yardage and TOP numbers are THIS skewed. 400+ - 170 or something and basically 40 to 20 minutes. This was a good test for the Eagles, the perfect game leading up to all the "Wow what will the Eagles do if a team decides to commit to stopping the run?" And we see the results.

The Eagles are the closest to as weakness free of a football team you can hope for. They can pass if they have to, or they will run it if they have to. Which defense currently in the NFL or at least the NFC can do both well enough to stop this team? They are also the best defense in football - in pass defense, in ppg and yards.

This team is on a mission.

Got a feeling that the Detroit Lions fans may be avoiding the "Who is the best team after Week [X]?" threads for the rest of the season.

Nobody is saying the refs dictated the game. That was one team exerting complete dominance on another team. But if you were in the game thread yesterday, you would have thought the Eagles were hosed by the refs (which was not at all the case).

They might be weakness free (especially if their kicker is back lol).

Eagle's weakness is their backup QB. But I don't see Jalen getting injured he was a competitive power lifter. The dude can take and dish out punishment. I had copilot dig up some info on him that follows.

Jalen Hurts was a competitive powerlifter before he focused on football. During his high school years in Texas, he participated in 11 powerlifting meets and achieved impressive lifts. At just 16 years old, he squatted 570 pounds, benched 275 pounds, and deadlifted 585 pounds for a total of 1430 pounds. His father, who was also his high school football coach, encouraged him to pursue powerlifting.

Powerlifting has certainly contributed to Hurts' overall strength and athleticism, which has been beneficial in his football career. Do you think his background in powerlifting gives him an edge on the field?

Steelers are good against the Run.

Powerlifters have ankles, ACLs, MCLs, bones, tendons and ligaments, so powerlifting is pointless.

Yes, as a yinzer, I acknowledge the Eagles are better and there is no doubt. But I dont think that gap is as wide as Philly pholk think. Steelers get a lockdown CB in the draft and sign Tee Higgins, and maybe we run it back in the Burgh next year, if we can finish first in our division.

Is Elliott back? I might need K this week, dont like Fairbarn in KC.

The crazy thing is the Eagles have the youngest defense in the NFL. Vic has these guys playing like this in year 1.

Yeah its good but they will all want to get paid soon as well
Of course! I mean, off the top of my head in some sort of order, priority wise its

Baun - is a must
Milton - gonna be very expensive I could see him leaving for $15M+ per
Jordan Davis - gotta sign one of these guys, my guess is this is the guy
Sweat - they cut his salary now he's gonna cost more next year. Cool

Nakobe? Seems like the perfect time to sign him to an extension first year he really is healthy. Are they going to spend $$ at TWO LB spots
Reed - sign him to a 3 year deal, now please.

I know they can figure it out. I think they should let sweat walk and draft another de early. Milton as well

I would have gone for it, but didn't consider it a no brainer decision considering it was still several yards.

2 seed at 15-2 is a tough pill

I've always been of the mindset that the instigator should get the flag and the rest ignored unless it's significantly over the top. I realize it rarely happens that way, but I think it should....and the Pitt blocker definitely instigated that one. Conveniently ignored by some folks in the game thread is that the blocking into the wall action was in itself a personal foul (continuing action well OOB)
