2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (4 Viewers)

Eagles are starting to give me that feel.
Agreed. Shades of '17 vibes. Defense running into the EZ and doing the choreographed celebration stuff that was big in '17 and makes me feel like whatever issues they had last year are eliminated. They are galvanizing.

That defense is really young too.

C. DeJean - 21
N. Smith - 23
Q. Mitchell - 23
J. Carter - 23
N. Dean - 24
J. Davis - 24
M. Williams - 25
R. Blankenship -25

scary for other teams. they are going to get better

I don't follow the entire league like I once did, and he's lacking in flashy plays (interceptions), but should Mitchell be the front runner for DROY talk? He seems to be playing at an All-Pro level, which is insane. I'm guessing the lack of picks will hurt his perception around the league.

Did Hurts outplay Daniels last night? I'm not worried about Hurts per se, but not feeling warm and fuzzy about his play yesterday.

We know Daniels will only get better. When we go to DC later in the year, will Hurts have gotten better?

I'm still stuck on what if Hurts already peaked. Are we good enough, as a team, to overcome his shortcomings? The defensive improvements may be the answer and hopefully so. But would love to see some more out of Hurts to say yea, he's still on his way. This year has been a steady of good enough to get bailed out by the D.

Separately, I hope Goedert does something nice for Calcaterra. With Ertz in the building that would have sucked for Goedert to lose that fumble in his dinner circle lol.
I think we'll see some improvement from Hurts (or rather some improvement is possible) but we're not going to see leaps and bounds. At this point - he mostly is who he is. He's not going to be the guy to throw for 400 yards every other week or make great plays in the middle of the field...but he's going to consistently get us solid QB play.
That said - let's also let him have the same offensive coordinator for 2-3 years again perhaps? The last big jump was when he had Steichen for 2 years in a row. He's also having career highs in BOTH completion percentage and YPA (69% and 8.4 respectively). That means THIS year he's #4 in the league in Yards per pass attempt and tied for 5th in completion percent.

He has flaws. Takes some sacks where he should get rid of it (which would bring his completion percent down) - but tbh that's really the only one. If he gets even a "little" better at seeing pressure early and hitting a quick release he's elite.

Case to be made the only QB's playing better then him right now are Jackson and Goff. (Probably Burrow too, but you could make a case either way).

We know Daniels will only get better.
We knew Wentz would be an MVP who lead us to a Super Bowl not that long ago.

What Hurts has shown (IMO anyway and I’m not his biggest fan) is that with competent coaching he can be very good. He will never be elite or a guy who drops back a ton and carves a defense up. He has shown nice growth with good coaching and that’s a good sign. While he’s not making huge leaps, I’d say he’s making enough small ones.

I pretty much agree here. The stuff that you don't see on paper is what really makes Jalen Hurts and the Eagles go. Guys just LOVE playing with him. He is just such a leader and winner.

the Leader comment rings very true with me, so there's that.

For al the hype Mitchell is (rightfully) getting as a lockdown CB as a rookie....Dejean is fantastic. Kid has all the earmarks of being a CB1 in his own right. He's so friggin good getting through the traffic though, he might actually be better playing the slot.

My son just asked if I wanted to go to the game next week in LA. How do I turn him down? LOL!
I’ll be there for sure.

I'm going. We're probably going to do the Green Legion tailgate, maybe the pep rally too.

Quinyon Mitchell from PFF:

Terry McLaurin 0 targets, 0 catches, 0 yards
CeeDee Lamb: 1 target, 1 catch, 5 yards
Ja’Marr Chase: 2 targets, 2 catches, 16 yards
Malik Nabers: 2 targets, 1 catch, 9 yards
Amari Cooper: 2 targets, 1 catch, 10 yards
Mike Evans: 4 targets, 2 catches, 19 yards
Chris Olave: 2 targets, 2 catches, 23 yards
Drake London: 2 targets, 1 catch, 5 yards
I can't believe this is real. Those are insane numbers. So happy we have him.

they did not play well on offense last night. thats what makes me feel good. they are capable of being so much better
Yeah I think the Commies gave them the win more then they won it themselves. Terrible decision making from Quinn’s coaching staff.

We also need to get better first QTR starts.

He’s elite in one thing Game manager. Similar to Russ Wilson. You don’t Hurts throwing over 30 times a game as his limits will show. Keep him under 30 throws and a good run game they’ll be fine. However I think Hurts limits do limit this Offense from ever reaching its full potential

My GFs dad is moving back from Guam next year from the navy to SD next year for 3 months (paper work for retirement) next summer. If he was in SD already I’d be hard pressed to not get us tickets to go to the game next Monday night

Not that I was worried really at all, but with the Giants turning to Tommy Devito, looks like that last game of the season is going to be a bye week for the Eagles whether we get the 1 seed or not....

But in 2020 I was told the Giants are too classy an organization to ever tank on purpose. Now they turn to their 3rd string QB because the first two, who are more talented, might cost them more money. Stay classy, I guess.

Honestly I don't know if Devito isn't the best QB of the 3.

The World is soon to find out.....

I just got an alert that a piece of sheet metal fell off AT&T Stadium's roof when they opened it today. It has since been closed. No word on anything else. Hope no one got hurt.

On another note; It's kinda funny Jerry's building is falling apart.

Lock won a game last season too, but it was against a terrible team. :oldunsure:

lol did Jerry try to glue some sheet metal over the bright windows?

The Thanksgiving DAL/NYG game being meaningless to Eagles fans (and probably a train wreck) is going to make the holiday so much more enjoyable.
I'm pretty sure I'll have more interest in watching that game over tonight's game. It'd be great if both those teams duked it out for division bottom dweller. I predict one team won't try very hard.

We need to hope for a giants win. They’re 8th right now could slide into a top 5 with a win as they have a game in hand with LV Tenn, and one other

Who cares, the Giants aren't any of the QBs in the draft away from contending. They don't have an offensive line. I would love for them to draft a guy, spend 4 years hoping he'll pan out and then have to draft another guy in 2029.

its a garbage qb draft as well. giants and cowboys are in for several years of pain

Giants have a lot more to address than the QB so this actually helps them probably, not get sidetracked to picking up a franchise QB in the disarray year with a new GM coming in. Cowboys should follow and fire their GM (sarcasm).

Jets fired Joe Douglas
Good. Keep that clown as far away as possible. He’s another one where each story seems worse and worse and he only appeared good because of Howie.
It will tell us all we need to know if Howie doesn't bring him back in as a consultant until he can find something else.
After he leaked Howie’s QB board to make fun of him for picking Hurts I’d be shocked.

That and his drafts, while he was here, absolutely blew.

"He was a football guy though."

You want to go make sure they knee jerk reaction it so you hope they win enough for a tough decision. Same with dal

He did? What a chode

I think its safe to say Douglas won't be coming back. Douglas, when he went to the Jets, is one of just a few of front office personnel the Eagles have developed and let move on to another team. Pittsburgh just took our draft guy this past offseason, didn't seem to hurt our drafting ability too much. The Eagles will just keep on plugging away with the way they do things. Without any input from that bum.
