2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (7 Viewers)

And to be fair, I expect my 255 million dollar QB to do a lot better than 183 yards passing against a team like Atlanta. Theres enough talent on that side of the ball for him to do a LOT better than that. The pass at the end of the game is something I’d expect from a rookie. We didn’t need that much to get into range and the hero ball needs to stop. Be ok being boring.
To be fair, Kellen said in his presser that that play was what he called. He said they were looking to go deep there. Fwiw.

Agree it was a dumb call, but that wasn’t Jalen being a hero. That was exactly what was dialed up up by the OC

No it was a dumb call by moore
I’m sure all the great QB’s to play this game has bad calls by their OC’s. I’d bet not many just chucked it up and prayed when we needed 20 yards, with 27 seconds and a TO

Fran Duffy really does a nice job of breaking down the games after watching it back. I feel a little bit better about that last Atl drive after hearing his thoughts on how it played out:

(it's in the beginning like from 35 second to like 10 minutes or so.

ETA: lol, woah. Am I watching youtube in German or something? that link looks pretty funny. i clicked on it from the post and it goes to the right spot so all safe (I think)
The board has been doing that with all YouTube links for like a month or so

Also: cliffs notes on what could make you feel better? No matter how good atl might have been or what other random things might have happened, it’s a terrible job to give up a TD in that situation
i was happy to know that it seemed less on Fangio. The DL was given different stunts and other stuff, and they just weren't clicking. so potentially this will get better with more adjustment to Fangio's defense
Everything I have read about Fangio is that he is a legit DC with a strong pedigree. I cannot think of a reason 2 games into the season why all of a sudden he is the problem.
Iirc, the Dolphins fans here were not sad to see him go fwiw
Nor were the Cowboy fans sad to see Kellen Moore hired. Some of those decisions have to be put on him.
This whole “fans weren’t mad to see such and such go” is high school babble. Some fans liked them, some hated and some thought they were everything in between. Stop acting like a fans feeling on these issues matter lol

His system has had mixed success over the last decade. He’s respect as a DC based on his yrs but inconsistency with in the D he runs. Like half a season it looks top 10 then the last half bottom 10 and never consistent. I think it’s just a old school defense in phases is good but shouldn’t be steams foundation defensively.

Also the last few places he’s left let’s just say players and fans weren’t sad to see him him leave so there’s that.

I mean there were numerious mia players who weren’t sad to see him go either den and Chicago as well. Vic seems like the type of guy you either loved or hated between players. Seems well respected in coaching circles though.

I wrote iirc and the mia fans here. Calm down. Maybe your defense will get better. It’s early

i miss Doug.
We'd be doing the same thing with him. Look at Jax.
We would be worse. Prob still starting carson wentz
Seriously, anybody who watched the two Jacksonville games this year would not be pining for Doug. I don’t know exactly what share of the blame he deserves but the offense has been a mess
Press Taylor is the OC and Lawrence is not on the same page as him. Sounds familiar.

Doug also thought Jefferson was a slot guy at best. Howie tried to extend the olive branch to Doug on drafting Reagor and Hurts when more than a few people in the org thought Howie was too generous. The Hurts pick created a huge fiasco in general and Howie and Lurie both admit that was a mistake. Not on the guy they drafted but drafting a QB that early when you just signed your would be franchise guy to a new deal.

There were issues with Pederson that went beyond coaching plus his refusal to adapt and wanting to be too buddy buddy with players and staff. Jim Schwartz should’ve been fired the year after the SB. Then when Howie and Jeff asked Doug on OC and DC replacements were horrible. I was hoping Doug learned going to Jax but he hasn’t

I and many will appreciate him coaching that team to a SB somehow (seriously that who era needs a 30 for 30 as people don’t know how bad Chip left it), but I think Doug’s best days is an OC

Everytime homie brings up Wentz its just hilarious to me.

"I thought I was out, but ^some random thing happened and it made me sad about Wentz^ they PULL me back in"

I’m 99% sure I posted a bunch of them when he was hired but I suck at searching on this site. Has to be in this thread or last years but before he lost a ton of players he was doing really well IIRC

I think the biggest red flag so far this season from Sirianni in his new "CEO coach" role is that he's still "dating" analytics, and not "marrying" it. Doug proposed to it, had a huge wedding, and started a family with it. Nick seems to use it sometimes and not others, with some of those times being obvious times to follow it.

When asked about going for the FG instead of the 1st down on 4th and 3 at the end of the game, where the prevailing analytics would say it's a clear go for it decision, he doubled down on the FG being the right call.

“I was completely convicted that kicking the field goal there was the right decision based off all my studies,” Sirianni said. “Now, I come back and I reevaluate it and I'm even more convicted, to be quite honest with you, because just everything that goes into that.”

Either be a Doug, or be a Joe Judge. When you switch back and forth between the two, you're just blindly throwing darts at the wall.

This is why I said he’s just too emotional to be in this role. Next game you’re at just watch him. He's not stoic at all and is almost cheerleader like at times. He doesn’t look like other coaches in the “CEO role”. I also don’t know what he offers to other coaches in game as well. Most CEO style coaches know all the positions on the field and can assist. Does he?

I dont know what he does other than being a distraction. I said it before he should have been fired for how last year ended. You dont get extra credit for stuff you maybe did 3 years ago. And that year totally looks like steichan and gannon did everything.

CJGJ has a foot injury. Sirianni said "We'll see" in regards to his status for Sunday.
I feel this season slipping away already haha

Safety plan and the most obvious thing - pass rush, really really need to step up the play.

I really hope they go to a more run centric/conservative offense while AJB is out + while the defense is figuring out how to play the scheme correctly.

But I have serious doubts thats going to happen. We all know Kellen Moore likes to try to "light the scoreboard up"

We were gashed on outside zone last week and the Saints are a heavy, outside zone run team. Carr seemingly only passed like ten times last week and Kamara looks like old school/healthy Kamara. While I agree we need to get more pressure on the QB I honestly don't think they are going to try and pass much against us. I could see them doing to us what they did to Dallas and run the ball 40+times. Huff has been singled out as sucking at rushing the passer-rightly so. But he has also been pretty bad at setting the edge and not letting the RBs get past him. Honestly I wonder if they start to keep him on the bench more and more. Fangio seemed like he recognizes that Huff doesn't have it in his last presser and was pretty noncommittal when asked about Huff.

And Hurts is playing the way that benched him in the title game and made him run off to O. He’s going backwards in his development

Steichen ran the offense well. Brian Johnson wanted to continue it and play off of it with his ideas but Nick wanted to run things his own way. Then he blamed BJ for it it all as his scape goat.

We got 6 games between now and Nov 5th trade deadline. We play Jags right before that. I could see them going 3-3 with the way they’ve played up to this point with a bye in between those 6 games. I think these next 6 are crucial. Byw week after week 4 though if they lose in NO and then at TB following week do they fire Nick?

There isn’t much in pass rushers fa or Trade. Trades Safety Budda Baker maybe. WR3 maybe Wilson steps up but I’d like to see Christian Kirk or Treylon Burks as options for 3. They could get another TE though too. They could use another back if Shipley isn’t ready though I’d rather see him then Gainwell and Damion Pierce is a guy if healthy probably available can run between the tackles give Miles a break and take less carries off of Hurts. Plus he can catch out of the backfield. They need LBs but I could see them making a few trades of players leaving. Devin White and maybe one or two others.

The team has so much work and holes you can’t replace it all at once, but 2 of those 3 another RB and Safety could be keys to building the future. Hope you develop the young guys and go from there with FA and draft.

End of season as of right now hovering around .500 either 8-9 or 9-8 depending how a few games swing.

DJackson10, are you okay tonight, man? I'm not saying that to be rude. It's odd you don't know who your RB is. Or I'm totally mistaking what you're saying here. But your thought process isn't very clear.

He’s on roll. Best to let it run its course. Already through the wentz stuff. Almost done.

Brother, you have Saquon Barkley. What do you need an RB for? Are you trading Saquon in your head for a premium position guy?
Saquan went to Penn State. So in Djax mind that automatically means he's a bum.

I was actually concerned he wasn't right. If you read him closely, he wants another RB to gives Miles some rest. I think he's reasoning as if Miles Sanders is still your RB. So I was worried maybe he wasn't gripping reality so hard. Maybe it was just a slip and he meant Saquon, but the whole thing seemed a little loose.

Ah, the Penn State thing again. You guys know him better than I do. Guess that looms large, huh?

And it's Saquon, dammit, Insein. You're going to mess up my five-year fight to get his name right. Like I never could get Krzyzewski right and took years to get Belichick—it took a minute or two to get used to Saquon and not the "a," which seems more natural.

nervous about this one. Will feel ok with a good close game, even if we lose, but if we get blown out.............

I want another RD togive him a break and to take carries away from Hurts. Keep some tread off Sanders

Apparently Jalen Carter did not start due to being late to a team function. This season is really starting to give #Dreamteam vibes.

Also, as an aside, I am now convinced that Jalen and Goedert are never going to be on the same page. I'd bet a dollar that Dallas will be on another team after next year. No way he comes back to a team that seems determined to NOT use him in the passing game generally and around the red zone specifically.
Someone listening to me w/r/t goedert

FYI, all the analytics models had that as a “Kick the FG” call at the end of the half.

I think Nick being a CEO coach has put him in the mindset of “I have to prove my worth somehow” and it is manifesting in him constantly trying to show how smart he is.

You can’t take hearing that the fans who regularly watch the previous employer were glad to see him gone? It’s not a dig, it’s group think that the guy sucks. Proof was the next employer in a different town felt the same way. Don’t be so sensitive. If it makes you feel better, Barkley was a great hire at RB?
