*** 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers: Sub-par performance, awful coaching and bad luck in week 16 (24 Viewers)

Jones pulling GP aside is what was needed. That's the time teammates need to step up like he did instead of keeping quiet.

Not sure how to stop Porter. This is who he was when drafted and he knows no other way to play cornerback. I'm afraid if he doesn't grab we will all see that he's really not that good. The league is onto him and these fouls will continue to pile up.

As for Wilson, he's surprised me in many ways but there's still room to grow offensively especially up front. You won't face a sieve D like that come playoff time, but it's always a positive to have that ability to score when needed. Some true tests vs legit D's are coming so I hope that oline will be up to the task.

Not necessarily the best win but I’m encouraged the Steelers offense showed up in a big way,
Please stop being positive, it doesn't fit in with the tone of the thread.
For the most part, the tone has been positive for a while now. Irish is always negative.
i'm 50% reverse jinx/schtick in the game threads for the record. I like seeing when people take is as serious lol
Yes I love when you’re posting “game over” when we are down like 3-0 with 50 minutes left to play. I find it humorous but I can see how some people take your shtick seriously.

Browns shredding the Broncos tonight has me worried for next week.

Playing a 2-8 team on a Thursday night on the road in a snowstorm after a physical game with the Ravens was a recipe for a loss.

The situation will be entirely different this Sunday in Pittsburgh. If the Steelers can’t beat the Browns after losing to them less than 2 weeks ago then what chance do they have against the Eagles and Chiefs and the playoffs?

They need this win badly given the schedule ahead. I think the Steelers will come away a victory

3C's if you look at the output lost from last year it's a loser. Normally you look at a trade going forward and Diontae has self-sabotaged. Plus, Donte appears to be better than advertised. Steeler's still need Mike Williams & Roman Wilson to step up. Calvin has been adding value my only concern with him is that he is on the smallish side.

I think counting on either Williams or Wilson to give us anything this year is a lost cause. Since Williams’s TD catch against Washington, is it true that he hasn’t even had a single target in 3 games? I don’t even see him showing up in the box score in any of those games. Also his snap count (which was already low to begin with) has gone down each of the past 3 weeks. I guess an injury to Austin or Jefferson is what might open up an opportunity.

0 targets and I'm not expecting much of anything from MW. RW I'm expecting something next year.

Steelers had a pretty clean injury report until today. Apparently Pickens tweaked his hammy and now listed as questionable

We almost did it. I think we just need one more win or a colts loss in the next 4 weeks to lock a playoff spot. 4 tough games to finish

Somehow Miami still factors into it but yeah this will likely be the earliest we've clinched a playoff spot in a long time. Hard to believe. Russ continues to cook.

Also Miami and Indy don't exactly have a murderers row ahead of them. I don't think either are good enough to win 4 in a row but you never know. Steelers need to take care of their own business and preferably win 2 out of the 4 to have a good chance at a home playoff game.

I swear on my life I thought Miami lost :bag:
I did too. They were losing late and I just assumed they lost. But of course the jets….

At some point you’ll accept that we are in fact a pretty good team and aside from a collapse we’ll have a playoff game in Pittsburgh
Murderous schedule ahead, but I think we’ll go 2-2. Philly gets us and Cincinnati gets revenge but we get KC and the Ratbirds

Big plays on D every game. Sacks, picks and fumbles recovered not to mention passes defended and TFL’s.
On offense, 4 ypc and few 3/out, with good resilience. So far a masterpiece by Tomlin

The only unpredictable piece is injuries. We need George and we need 24-26 and of course 90 and 97

I’d love a link to some all-22 on our OL starting to gel and our D front 7 getting to the ball.

I’m not going to be surprised.

They’ve all but clinched a playoff spot but the real prize is the division to get a home playoff game.

They can do that by winning their two division games.

They don't need to beat Cincinnati to win the division if they've already won in Baltimore. Big if of course.

A win in Baltimore and losses in all 3 other games still wins the division because at worst they'd be tied at 11-6 with a season sweep of Baltimore.

Agreed. This week Baltimore will likely gain a game on us but none of it matters if we beat Baltimore. The goal has to be first winning the division and next going into the playoffs healthy (which will require some luck). This game against Philly will be interesting but not that important in the grand scheme of things. I’m hoping we make it competitive.

Schedule is interesting for the home stretch. Ideally Pittsburgh can keep trucking with wins in Philly and Balt locking up the division and at least 1 home playoff game.

Short week playing on Christmas vs KC (right after a tough Balt game) is rough. Very rough. Tomlin has a losing record on Thursday night football. Christmas game is similar playing on a short week. Unless the opportunity is there for earning the first round bye, there isn't much incentive to win. Save the good stuff for playoffs.

With AFC North in hand, team gets a mini-bye before facing Cinci at home. Tomlin can give some players a rest. Let the backups make their case for playing time.

I think we need to beat Philly -- and that we can. Then we probably lose the next two. Beat Cincy to regain confidence and make a playoff run.

Here's my take aways in no particular order. I know I'm late to the party here. lol
1. Steeler's offense seemed to chug along pretty well without their WR1. It was nice to see Mike Williams and Scotty Miller have 3 catches each. Would have loved to get more productivity from Darnell and Calvin.
2. Steeler's defense was the better D. Did I hear it right that the Brown's offense only converted 3 of 13 3rd down possessions.
3. Tomlin has never lost to Cleveland at home.
4. I loved the Cleveland Sucks chant.
5. Russell started out slow but as the game went on was more in control. Sure, doesn't seem that he only passed for 158 yards.
6. 8 different receivers caught a pass with Pickens being scratched for the game.
7. Cleveland's kicker missed 2 field goals and offensive turnovers killed them.
8. Cordarrelle earlier in the year looked like he was carving out a role in the offense. Lately it looks like Arthur is desperately trying to carve out a role for an underperforming player as of late.

The key to beating Philly will be the Steeler's defense and takeaways. Don't kid yourself the Eagles have the better offense. But it seems that their passing offense has been in a funk lately. Steeler's should be able to contain Saquon Barkley.

It really is about containing Barkley. Hurts can be forced into some bad decisions. This is the most winnable game (and almost must win) in my mind because it is a regular week and we are healthy (other than Pickens). I expect Baltimore to win the rematch, and we will be too beat up on that quick turnaround against the lucky Chiefs.

Assuming we get out of Philly healthy, I think we can beat Baltimore again. We are better than them this year. Philly will be tough because it’s way easier said than done shutting down Barkley behind that offensive line. If we can force them to pass more than they want, we have a good chance. KC luck will continue because they get to face us at the end of our murder’s row. How convenient for them.

3 games in 10 days is just terrible. I just hope they are healthy coming out of that, regardless of record.

We literally just played 3 games in 11 days less than a month ago.

Chiefs are doing the same thing as us, with 2 of those 3 on the road, same as us.

Guess what the Ravens are doing this month? Playing 3 games in 10 days, with 2 of those on the road.

Steelers fans are a whiny bunch lol.

The scheduling is (feels) worse than usual this year. For all teams. I think what's particularly aggravating here is that PIT has to play PHI, BAL and then KC. PIT's schedule is just very unbalanced this year and that's been the criticism from the beginning.

This year's schedule has been exactly what this team needed: A light 1st half schedule against weaker opponents to break-in our new QB room. The 2nd half schedule is what it is. I'm very thankful that we didn't face any of these Eagles/Ravens/Chiefs during the first 6 weeks of the season.

It is sounding like Pickens is going to miss the Eagles game.

It is imperative to have Pickens dolwn the stretch and playoffs. The Steelers should take no chances and rest him

The defense is going to need to step up big time for the Steelers to win in Philly without our best offensive player. They need to somehow contain the Philly running game and then they have a legit shot to steal it. Jalen Hurts is a good QB but he takes a lot of sacks. You force him to throw the ball more than 25 times and I think the Eagles will struggle on offense. Of course all of this is easier said than done going up against the best running back and run protection unit in the league.

On offense, I think we struggle this week. Even with Pickens, the Eagles have a great defense all around and likely were shutting us down. They get pressure on the QB, they have good linebackers and a very good secondary. However, Russ showed last week that he can spread the ball around and take what the defense gives him. More of that please! Also, the running game needs to be stellar this week. Enough with the Patterson experiment please!

I anticipate a loss but overall not too worried. The game has far less implications than next week's game. We beat Baltimore and we secure the division. We need to be healthy for that game. That's the key to the season IMO.

Eagles are the best D theyll likey face this year, and trying to one-arm tackle Barkley aint gonna work.

Dont think a W in this one is in the cards, unless Hurts implodes w/turnovers.

While I agree on all counts regarding the game this week the Eagles haven’t been playing all that great on offense lately.

I don’t think it’s happening but the Steelers could sneak a win if the ball bounces their way. More importantly is to stay healthy though.

My only hope is that PHI gets cute and tries to feed AJ. If they focus on their run game and D then it doesn't look great for PIT.

You guys may not have heard this but I live in Philly area and the big story this week is Brandon Graham purposely leaking out to the media that Hurts and AJ Brown have major issues with each other . That’s all the media is talking about. Could be a big enough distraction that gives us an edge to win. Or it could be a motivational ploy that results in the Eagles demolishing us.
