2025-26 NBA Thread: Chauncey Billups suddenly resigns to play minor-league baseball (4 Viewers)

KD for sure pulled a Webber but the refs are cowards
What does this mean?
Your "refs are cowards" line bores me.

The no-TO technical rule is in place to prevent the clock from being stopped and causing an unnecessary delay of game. Since they never actually awarded the TO before time expired the penalty wasn't necessary, plus it would have been a terrible anti-climactic ending to a great game.

It's your pick in the nerd draft.

Sorry I don’t actually think these guys are cowards - I figured the hyperbole was obvious. If you’re gonna be serious though I wasn’t aware the enforcement of that rule was a subjective thing where the refs can pick and choose. I mean he obviously called a TO with plenty of time left.

Great game and win by Thunder. Some terrific D by Durant before he bit and left his feet.

Reed Sheppard is ***

Rockets are in big trouble long term if he's going to be a ball handler and they have any aspirations of being a title contender. Maybe he can become a spot shooter. PG he is not. Dude does nothing but dribble with absolutely zero penetration over and over and over again. Guy has picked his dribble up at half court countless times like he's scared. Small, weak, can't defend and didn't seem like he even belonged out there.

Love 🐐 but the Rockets got to find another ball handler. FVV a massive loss.

Agree that Sheppard is a liability not only on defense but he hasn't been an efficient shooter either. I haven't given up on him and think he needs more time to get comfortable. They have until mid season to figure it out or can trade then for a viable PG.

I was telling my son before the game started that they would be a major contender if FVV didn't get hurt but I'm not sure how deep they can go without him.

They are still really freaking good.

Liking all the NBC tip-off and production so far. Way better than Stephen A and Wilbon yelling at each other.
They made opening day bigger than any playoffs or finals game that espn ever broadcasted.

The biggest difference in NBC’s coverage (so far) is that they present it like the game they are showing really MATTERS. Which sounds silly to say unless you have been subjected to ESPN (or even TNT) for years and realized that it didn’t always to them.

i thought the link was going to be some analytics to show he was good or something literally in his defense instead it was a link showing that he stinks at defense so yeah there you have it take that to the bank bromigos

It's not subjective based on the Athletic article about it: "The NBA’s 2025-26 Official Rules address that specific situation in Rule No. 12 — Fouls and Penalties. The rule reads: “Requests for a timeout in excess of the authorized number shall be granted, and a technical foul shall be assessed. Following the timeout and free-throw attempt, the ball will be awarded to the team which shot the free throw, and play shall resume with a throw-in nearest the spot where play was interrupted.”"

Yea that definitely should have been a tech and free throws. They just missed it

The ref was looking right at him with a good angle. I think he chose not to call it instead of missing it. LInk

It also looked like Durant walked before giving up the ball to Sengun, thinking he had gotten the TO. Oh well, I was happy to get another OT period. But I would have been upset if I was an OKC fan.

Definitely no travel there. Kept his left foot as pivot
