Did not like the 17 game schedule. 16 was fine, to add in another odd game is only for $$$.
TNF is here to stay as it is a ratings bonanza. I used to hate but now I look forward to it.
From what i have read teams only get 1 TNF game a year. I mean the Lions have played a Thursday game forever.
Then the teams that play TNF have 10 days before they play again so it is a little break.
If you listen to 97.1 ......100% chance
If you look at the Lions front office...... 0% chance

I do not think so. Lions will have a better record than 2-9. Campbell needs more time. I think we had the worst roster in the league last year.
I can see that the defense is coming together. Once Swift and St. Brown are back offense will start scoring again. Wouldn't mind Reynolds/Chark getting healthy.
Goff is a wild card. He's been overall too inaccurate all year and if he loses confidence/panics, it's double fudge time.
Just bizarre that Lions go from leading in points scored to scoring 6 in two games. NE/Bill B. put a spell on them. Lions need to avoid anything NE related. (think Patricia, Quinn, Flowers, Collins, Van Noy- Van Noy once traded to NE becomes a good player.)
Another point, Lions this year have started some new training protocol to reduce injuries. Read a small article about it. Rams have been using it.

It's year two, seriously do people not remember what a **** show this roster was and still is? This was not a situation where we had a lot of pieces and just needed a new voice. I don't see how you could legitimately fire DC at this point. He barely even had a chance yet.

That's fair. I mean, 3 starters (Hutch, Rodriguez, Joseph) who are rookies plus Paschal as a heavy part of the rotation. Add in Mcneill and Pittman in their 2nd years, plus Okudah now up to 16 GP in technically his 3rd year. 3rd youngest team overall, and it shows on defense.
It's a Hard Knocks life for them, leading to a metric tonne of hype on this team. Expectations not met. Seeing teams that were predicted to finish below the Lions (Jets, Giants, Seahawks, Falcons) show more improvements in less time. Collapsing against the Vikings, letting Seattle never punt, and then two games that started close but finished as laughers.
MIA, GB, @CHI, @giants ahead. A lot of things have to turn around quickly to avoid 1-9 or 2-8 going into Turkey Day. If they look that bad, there's going to be a call for some changes (the buzz is starting, if mostly on sports radio). Assuming the team's still bottom 5 in many defensive categories (PA and YPG primarily)? Easy guess who's going to get the blame so that Campbell gets less.
We'll see though. Of the 5 teams above 3-3 in the NFC, Lions have played 4, and still face the Giants and the Vikings a second time. Such is their "easy" schedule.

With most franchises in most sports, the proverbial vote of confidence is a death knell, that usually means Dead Man Walking. For the Lions, not so much.

Pretty surprising that MM only lasted 2 seasons, and Rod 3. Quick trigger for the Fords.
Heard one thing on the radio yesterday that I agreed with.
WCF, Bill Ford Jr, Martha Ford and now Sheila. They all are decent people, loyal, generous, great for the city, don`t get into any issues. They just don`t know how to build any type of a winning franchise. The fans like us really don`t expect anything more as we don`t know any different our whole lives. Now my daughters are already Lionized.
Lions are listed as the worst franchise in all of pro sports. I want it to change but if Goff does not work out and it looks like he won`t, then Lions have to draft a rookie QB and we are looking at another few years to see if that works out.
I drank some of the Hard Knocks kool aid and was expecting 7-8 wins this year. 3-4 is looking more realistic now.

You may be giving up on Sheila too early.
If Goff doesn't work out there may be alternatives. Lamar Jackson may be available next year and he listed Detroit as one of the places he would be interested in. Aaron Rodgers has toyed with leaving GB and based on how things are going this year a divorce may happen. We do not know what will happen, there are always surprises. Tannehill/Garrapollo may become available and could be a placeholder if we draft a first round QB.
One thing I look at is that our ownership, GM and head coach are all relatively new and inexperienced in their roles, as well as, having one of the youngest team of players. Patience is needed. I'm not saying that success is guaranteed but neither is failure. I'll trust the passion that Campbell and Speilman bring, they will not give up. And Sheila is so much better than Old Man Ford, she has energy and commitment too.

I just want to see some wins. If it ruins their #1 draft pick so what. Josh Allen went #7, Mahomes went #10, Jackson went #32. It's not where you pick, it's who you pick. Unfortunately, it's also sometimes who picks you.

Lost the team within the first couple weeks of his first TC. Parked his Harley next to the practice field day - instead of the parking lot he used every day - then “got mad” at the players, threw a fit, hopped on his bike and drove off in the middle of practice. Was a relief anytime Miami ran the ball. Lions pass rush ineffective.

Stat you can't make up: Lions now 0-4 when Jamaal Williams rushes for 2 TDs. It's happened in the two games they lost by 3, and the two (including today) they lost by 4.
Looked like Seattle game in the first half, with a mix of the Vikings game in the inability to hold a 10 point lead and the offense disappearing late.
Holding #1 pick strongly, though with Carolina and Jacksonville still ahead.

I know the defense is bad and very young. The offense put up 27 points in the first half. But it's unacceptable for them to be held scoreless AGAIN in the second half. Too many mistakes at bad times and Goff can't perform when it matters most. Another winnable game that they lose.

it could be worse - my son roots for NUFC, which last won the Tier 1/First Division/EPL in 1927, won it's last domestic cup (FA Cup) in 1955, last major Euro trophy was 1969, been relegated twice ('09 and '16.) The symmetry of a father/son Lions fan and a Magpie is uncanny. But at least his team is top shelf again since they started taken blood money from Saudi's Public Investment Fund.
Hmmm....any billionaires hanging around Dearborn who love American football?
But of course, doesn't matter, we know the Fords would never let go even if Gilbert or anyone else tried to buy them out.
I am so checked out on them right now. Just numb to the results and DGAF what happens week to week. At least the Wolverines are doing well (though they better fix that RZ offense.)

The argument there is that the team is just used to losing and the entire organization embraces them as lovable losers, there’s enough info here to suggest that Detroit will never figure it out until there’s huge changes with ownership
The Rams look terrible. That pick could be in the first half of round 1.
I think expectations were too high entering the season, including mine. I got sucked into the hype and got Lionized again. I expected 6-7 wins and maybe a couple more if things went right but the talent is severely lacking on defense and Goff is not the answer at QB.
I don't think you can get rid of Holmes/Campbell now because of the way they had to tear the roster down and how much dead cap space they have had. But if they aren't competing for a playoff spot next year it's probably time to move on.

I wish there was a counter argument.
MCDC probably cost them a few games with questionable coaching. Likeable guy, hell everyone loves him. You want to see him succeed. But that positive vibes motivational **** only goes so far. I'm not sure he has earned another season but they'll likely give him another shot.
As @Zeppelin pointed out, they're midstream in a complete tear down. Best to stay the course with Brad Holmes. He's drafted a few too many injury prone guys (legit complaint - same injuries from college cropped up again), signed Chark whose surgically repaired ankle still ain't right. To be fair he has uncovered some Day 3 gems, UDFAs and signed low cost veterans. IMO he deserves a full 5-6 year cycle to see where this ends up. He probably also deserves to be able to pick his own coach as Campbell was hired 6 days after he was.
But let's be real - they have never gotten it right in 65 years, and the Ford's first joined ownership in 1960 and bought out the other owners on the day JFK was shot. They are the common thread to this historically inept franchise.

Every team in the NFL could be 3 Wins or 3 losses, better or worse. It is the way the league is set up to be. Lions just never seem to be on the better record side of things. Lions had a 14 point lead. In the NFL that usually holds up.

Holmes is not going anywhere. DC will be gone before Holmes if a change is made. If I have to bet on it DC will get at least 4 years, if they start a rookie QB next year he will get 5-6. Sheila loves him and looks glowingly at him when he talks. WCF loved Matt Millen the same way.
DC or no DC Holmes will be here for the duration. Holmes has hit on some late picks and FAs but 2 overall Hutch, traded up for Williams have to be stars, the 2nd and third rounders have to be solid starters. They are all still ????.
I watched Hutch again close yesterday and he gets off the ball so fast teams are using his speed against him, they let him go wide and the big tackles shove him wider away from the play. Still i think he will eventually be a star.

Sewell is a top ten OT, top five RT, but honestly, that's not where he needs to be. Has the talent to be an All Pro. Hopefully keeps developing but still error prone. False start and holding on back to back plays on the opening drive of the second half yesterday, and THEN Decker had a false start - 1st & 30 is no way to go through life.
Decker had a second false start on the next drive. At home? Dafuq is their head at rn. Another drive killed.
Josh Reynolds is just not a playmaker. Not saying he's the reason they lost but he makes a play on either of those TD drops....come on man.
Swift is just soft. Don't know how anyone can argue otherwise. Very talented, but availability is the best ability.
But quibbles about the offense are wrong headed. You put up 27 points in the NFL, those should be wins. You don't need a great or even good defense - average and you get the dub. If AG had a mediocre defense they could easily be 4-3 or even 5-2. You think Minnesota or NYG have good teams? Hell no. But they know how to win games without being perfect.

Pleasant is a good coach. I don't have any doubt he'll land on his feet. He was part of the reason Jeff Okudah has played so well this season. Lions also are 1-6, have the worst defense in the NFL and their secondary just got shredded. He's the first sacrificial lamb of the yr

Last year Lions demoted Anthony Lynn midseason because of the offense looking putrid and that worked out very well. That move happened during the bye week so it was somewhat down key. We didn't know much of what was going on behind the scenes there.
With Pleasant's firing occurring the next day after we got torched by Miami it looks like more of a heat of the moment deal. If a change needed to happen though it was best to happen Monday to help the team prepare . We do not know what has been happening behind the scenes here also.
Lions defense stinks, its going to take more time to fix. Hutch constantly overruns plays, Rodrigo's short height and arms makes it easy to pass over him. Need better LBs the middle of the field is open to crossing routes. Oruwariye is a liability.

Lions are second to last in QB sacks and pressures in the NFL. I know Lions DBs are not all=pros but Without any type of QB pressure the DBs are not going to perform well.

The type of move that makes me feel as though we have taken zero steps forward with the new regime. I had my hopes but this is a head scratcher. If you can’t get pressure on the QB the secondary will be exposed.

Agree - and, in addition to losing the compensatory pick, we get a 2nd and a 3rd, and give back 2 fourths? That looks like not much better than a push in overall draft pick value.
