2nd Round RBs (1 Viewer)

From doing mock drafts and looking at ADP's, I've noticed that the first round is almost all RBs this year. Calvin Johnson, going around 1.09, is usually the only exception. I know that Calvin is a great 1st round pick, and I'd love to have him. But since so many RBs are going in the 1st, it feels like you have to take one then. What I'd like to know is who you guys think has the potential to post RB1 numbers that would be available in the 2nd round. In other words, if I take Johnson in the first, who can I look for in the second that can be a RB1. Scoring is 1pt ppr and 6 pts for all TDs.

I think Ridley is going to have a big year.

He finished as the #10 RB last year (in my league anyways) and with what appears to be more of an emphasis on the running game in New England he should have every opportunity to improve on that.

I imagine you meant in non-PPR.

In PPR, Reggie Bush seems interesting in the second round.

Matt Forte, Chris Johnson, SJax, MJD.

This.

These guys are going in the second round, and as long as MJD is healthy all five of these guys have the distinct possibility, IMO, of finding their way to RB1 production. But clearly they have warts or question marks, which is why they are going in round 2 instead of 1. CJ?K is inconsistent from game-to-game and might have stretches of games where he sits in the doldrums, plus Greene might take some TD's, but we know what he is capable of and the run blocking off the O-line has been upped a notch or two. We know what MJD is capable of as well, it's a matter of his knee and the lisfranc. SJax is going to be 30 in September and he has a lot of hard miles on him, and is on a pass first team, BUT he is clearly the RB1, appears to have at least one good season left in the tank, and should get a lot more scoring opportunities than he did in St Louis. Forte puts up RB1 numbers when healthy but he just doesn't score many TD's, and of course Michael Bush is there to keep it that way. Ridley snuck into the RB1 group last year, but he may not get the opportunity at as many TD's this year.

Personally I rank them Forte > SJax > CJ?K/MJD > Ridley

And then Gore. Those 7 sometimes get you through round 2 as guys take A.J. Green, Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshal, Jimmy Graham, and Julio Jones in round 2 as well. Even without QB's that's all of round 2 right there ^

SJax far and away IMO. He will have a ton of scoring opportunities and defenses can't stack the line. He still looked great last season on a very mediocre team with no weapons and 8 men in the box. I rank him ahead of Forte for his durability.

Honestly, I really don't like any of these guys. I'd rather pair Calvin with Dez, AJ, Marshall, or Graham and start my team that way.

If I had to pick a RB in round 2 I'd probably take Bush or Jackson, but they both carry too much risk for me.

In 12 team PPR drafts, I find myself taking Sproles almost every time I take a RB in the 2nd. But I normally draft WR anyways.

Assuming Foster, ADP, Martin,Rice, Charles, McCoy, Richardson are first round picks, sprinkled in with Megatron and Brees and Jimmy Graham to finish the round, there will be a strong list of 2nd round RB's left.

C. Johnson, Forte, Murray, D. Wilson, Lynch, Spiller, Morris, Ridley, MJD,etc..

I wouldn't touch Sjax with a ten ft pole, I think his best days are long gone.same for MJD..I wouldn't waste a pick on him either..I'd rather grab Fitzgerald or Dez Bryant in the second round, than to take a chance on Forte, MJD, Sjax..

Johnson is intriguing, but a tough early schedule might turn off some GMs..if they have patience, the tail end of the Titans' schedule sets up nicely for CJ.

Murray has the tools but can't stay healthy..but something tells me this might be his year..

D. Wilson is going to lead the Giants in rushing..where he gets drafted is anyone's guess, 2nd round might be too high...but you never know. but like others listed above, I'm more inclined to grab Fitz,Bryant, etc..i.e., proven players..

Morris *could* be a first rounder, but from what I'm reading in fantasy mags, no one seems all that interested in him..it's like he's Rodney Dangerfield getting no respect. Grabbing Morris in the 2nd is great value any way you slice it!

Yeah...I don't think you're going to get Lynch, Spiller, or Morris in round two. I guess there is a slight chance of getting Morris in round 2 if you have pick 2.1 or 2.2, but it's still unlikely. And Lynch...forget about it.

I like Lamar Miller as a good 2nd round pick. Not sure if he'll go 1st round or not but if he's there in the 2nd I'll grab him. Also D.Wilson in New York could put up decent numbers.

I think if you could go

Calvin

(Lynch or Morris or Forte)

Fitz

THat would be a heck of a start.

But, yeah, like everyone has already said, I think it is very viable with the options you may have right now if you go RB in the 2nd.

My personal flavor, I avoid Chris Johnson and guys like Ridley and Murray and DMAC and MJD in tactics like these just because if you are trying to grab a guy that really (really really) is likely to be RB1 production, you have to play it a bit safe. I probably prefer the Forte/Lynch/Morris type. If Im really feeling somebody else, maybe SJAX just because even though I know he probably won't hit like a DMAC MIGHT, I also know he's more likely to be there every week.

Drafting your #1 RB in the 2nd or lower creates a natural deficit. YOu MUST be sure the player you take in round 1 is a diferrence-making advantage player for you (Calvin/Graham, etc) and then you have to have a bit of a safety net with that RB.

I like Lamar Miller as a good 2nd round pick. Not sure if he'll go 1st round or not but if he's there in the 2nd I'll grab him.
And with that, we have a new "most ridiculous hype train in the history of FF". Miller might go in the 1st? A good pick in the 2nd? Just wow.
no doubt, why in hades would you not pick a top 5 wide receiver instead of drafting a dude that hasnt done anything on a crappy team? I would rather have a AJ Green, Julio, Marshall etc then a risk like Chris Johnson, MJD or Forte
