non ppr....Spiller or Best?

Seems almost a lock that Bryant and Mathews are the top 2 picks....just depends what order.

hmmmmmm

To be honest I am leaning towards Best.

I find myself in a similar situation (except in a PPR league). I'm leaning towards Best also. The fact that he was a 1st round pick even with the injury risks makes me trust him more than pre-draft. Spiller is a strong risk/reward. If at all possible though, I'm trading up to get Mathews.

I'd take Spiller #1 in PPR, so I'd answer the question here saying Spiller over Best.

Kevin Smith is hurt, not dead. May not be an everydown RB, but he's not going away anytime soon.

In Spiller's case...what about F-Jax and Lynch?
I think Spiller is just way better than both of those guys - he is an incredible talent. That said, Best is right up there - will be fun to track their progress.

Lynch is a goner. He'll get cut or dealt for a late round future pick.Jackson should have a sizable role in 2010. CJ get more carries as the season goes on & catch a boatload of passes.2010: Matthews-Beyond: SpillerFWIW I compare Spiller to Clinton Portis & Matthews to Ryan Grant.

Slight edge to Spiller. Best is in the more favorable situation BUT Buffalo did not draft Spiller 9th overall to sit on the bench. He'll still get lots of touches.

I think both will do well. That's a good thing. Best and that speed in Detroit seems hard to pass on. Spiller will be good in Buffalo though, I think 250-300 touches a year.

Best can post similar numbers

Best has some really good numbers form college.

Sophomore year he rushed 194/1580 and an 8ypc avg, my goodness. 27 catches 250 yds, 16 TDs total for season.

Junior year he got hurt but he still managed 16 TDs again. 5-10, 195 lbs...I see some Warrick Dunn here although he is even bigger than Dunn coming out of college. I like his skill set and the added fast track at Ford Field. Spiller might not loo as fast in the snow in Buffalo.

Interesting I see Mathews being a lock at #1 but I don't see Bryant being a lock at #2 in non-PPR. It really depends on your team needs and I really don't know if Bryant contributes much in his first year with the WR in front of him in Dallas.

What did you think when Minnesota drafted Randy Moss?

Link???

Spiller to Portis...he isn't even close to as tough of a runner as Portis.

I wasn't playing fantasy football at the time. I hope I would have know at the time that Moss ability blows away Bryants in every catagory. I do know that I took Calvin over Lynch in non ppr rookie drafts but I did not take Crabtree over the first 3 RBs last year. I guess I am putting Bryant in the Crabtree catagory. I actually would like to see what Thomas could of done with a real QB at GT instead of a 45% passer. To bad he got drafted by Denver.

The bigger question should be, I wonder what Thomas could have done had he learned how to run routes instead of just streaking down field for the jump ball?

That's pretty much what the GT offense was. Triple option or throw it deep.
If you like Chris Johonson I would take BEST, he is the same sort of player. Remember CJ was a late first round dynasty pick in most rookie drafts a few years ago because of size etc.. BEST could actually be be best rookie by the end of the year, Detroit has some weapons.. As long as Marshawn Lynch is will the Bills I would rate Spiller last out of the 4.

Spiller. I feel Best is an injury waiting to happen. If you pass on Spiller you are going to regret it.

I never came away impressed when Spiller was forced to run b/w the tackles, just isn't that type of back, meaning he isn't going to be the type that gets 25 carries, nor should they force-feed him the ball like that.

Best is better running inside, but he 'aint exactly built for those runs either, but he seems more willing to do so than Spiller.

It really is a toss-up, as both situations are pretty much the same(bottom dwellars in what could be called the two best divisions in football, assuming Chicago improves in year 2 with Cutler and an improved and healthy defense, which is pretty much a given assuming Urlacher is good to go).

I'd roll with Spiller, because I think Green Bay / Chicago / Minnesota will be hell for Best...but things can change.

Watch Spiller on film - Dude is good - What amazed me the most is how fast he got down the field on passing routes - I am taking him at 1.3 in my PPR dynasty league
