30 second draft timers (1 Viewer)

Two of my leagues are using a popular league management site whose name I won't mention (but it sounds a lot like "See B.S"). These are both 14 team leagues with 16 round drafts.

Because of the sheer number of picks, the commishes are each going with 30 second draft timers. Never knew how spoiled I was. I'm used to 2 minutes to make a pick, and usually use about 1:15. But last time I tried this 30 second thing was a nightmare. 5 seconds of that time was eaten up just waiting for the site to show me who was picked by the previous drafter. It took me an average of 8-10 seconds to find a guy in the system and pick him. That gives me about 15 seconds to actually think of who to draft.

I'd fortunately been trying Draft Dominator. I was able to get in about four picks of my own, and the rest were 50-50 between DD suggested players and the Autobot (Deceptocon?) picking when the times went BUZZ.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has a strategy for dealing with a 30 second timer, or shortcuts on how to use CBS to find a player quickly. The Draft Dominator is an obvious crutch, but that leaves me feeling like a sheep instead of someone who is unfolding a plan. If that's the way it is, then that's the way it is, but I'd love to hear some suggestions.

No direct experience on that site for drafting, however most online drafts I've been in have the ability to form a queue of players in an "autodraft" or something like it area. You could do that in advance of your draft pick and then save time searching for players you want. Of course, this will be difficult to maintain throughout the entire draft. Still, it might be worth it for rounds 2-6 or so when I expect you'll have the most important choices. Good luck.

I know MFL and RTS both allow you to creat a cheatsheet so preferred players are listed first. You can also set it to auto-draft but the cheatsheet at least queues up your ideal players instead of scrambling and searching for them when your pick arrives.

If you are prepared why would it take you more than 30 seconds to make your pick? You get your cheatsheets, you mark guys off as they are drafted and you take the most highly rated player when it's your turn. Get your homework done before your draft and make your picks swiftly and with confidence and your league mates will appreciate your promptness.

Go faster? You need to have your pick just about ready before your timer starts. No down time to grabass with the rest of the people there. Focus for three hours, and then be done.

Thanks. You wrote essentially what I was trying to get across, only shorter and clearer.
