Yeah, it's not easy to upchuck and run at the same time. I always have to stop and hug a street sign myself.

:goodposting:

I don't recall the Eagles running no huddle much that season.

That drive was probably the most important drive of the game. If they don't score the game's over. I think it was smart to huddle up, make sure everyone was on the right page, and do your best to determine what the defense is doing, rather than hurridly try to get to the line and run as many plays as you could as quick as you could.

What really hurt was after scoring the TD, doing the on-side kick with 2 TO left and almost 2 minutes left.

McNabb just isn't a winner. He is always making excuses and using race to try to deflect attention from his horrendous showings in big games.

He lacked heart in that game and basically gave up in the end.

McNabb kept audibling to "Earl", but nobody knew what it meant and it wasted time.

My serious response is that I don't think the Eagles were well drilled in the 2 min offense because they didn't have to use it much during the season as they were dominating their opponents with TO in the passing game and that defense. They were fish out of water trying to run it in the Super Bowl.

This is a question I've never seen definitively and directly answered by anyone. Not by the Eagles, not by Andy Reid, not by Donovan McNabb, not by Philly homers, not by Philly haters. I even did a search and I can't find anything of real substance. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Why Did Donovan McNabb Show No Urgency In SuperBowl XXXIX Final Minutes? Was he hurt? Was there some of clock management/play calling issue with Reid and the offense? If someone can share some insight into this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
It's a little thing called "the fix". Nobody likes to talk about it so you won't hear an answer.

Apparently no one knows. I just read Education of a Coach and apparently Belichick was so puzzled by the lack of urgency the Eagles were showing that he was repeatedly asking Romeo Crennel the score and if he was sure they were winning. Pretty damning indictment of Reid if I say so.

My favorite reply was that an NFL athlete in the 20th or so game of the season and undoubtedly the most important game of his life "was fatigued".

McNabb was on the take. It's just that simple.

I realize the Birds have had their problems with clock management in the Reid era at the end of halves and games and so forth, but this was incomprehensible. There's no way Reid wasn't trying to hurry things up. The only thing I can beleive is that he had a concussion and was just that out of it.

Take McNabb's career playoff stats and extrapolate them to a 16-game season and here's what you get:60% completion percentage, 3500 passing yards, 24 TDs, 16 INTs; 480 rush yards, 4 rush TDs.All those numbers are better than McNabb's career regular season stats (with the exception of the INT rate, which is slightly worse). He also has a 7-5 playoff record. How many QBs have better career playoff numbers?

My understanding was that he was mildly concussed from a hit he took from Seymour in the first quarter.

TO has a different theory (which I don't ascribe to).

Because he is a punk with no heart. I don't care if you are dying out there, it is the Super Bowl. You go out there and sprint to the line even if you are throwing up all the way there. Donovan laid down like the dog he is.

:blackdot: Quality posting here.....

I honestly don't know. I was screaming at the top of my lungs, wondering WTF was wrong with the offense and why weren't they playing with more urgency.

I always thought it had something to do with a hit McNabb took, but I couldn't tell you for certain. It's just a feeling I've always held.

It will always go down as one of the most mind boggling things I've ever watched in sports, period.

I read that too and it was the first thing I thought of. Bizarre, and funny that it was unnerving Belichick.

He was out of it the whole game. Seemed like he never got off the bus to me.
"McNabb finished the game with 30 completions for 357 yards, the third highest total for both categories in Super Bowl history, and 3 touchdowns."That's a pretty nice game for being out of it the whole time don't you think? The Pat's D wasn't too bad either...

Great book. Really shows why Belichick is in a class all his own. It's also why I think the whole Spygate thing is ridiculous. This guy is way ahead of his time.

Stupid facts always getting the way of opinions.

here's another question:

McNabb is going to be announced as the all-time Eagles QB at half time this weekend (for the eagles 75th anniversary)... will he be booed or cheered?

Let's see how the first half goes  I'm not going, but if I were, I'd cheer loudly :towelwave: 5 is the man

Booed for 2 reasons:1. why have the ceremony NOW? Why not wait until the end of the season or at least until McNabb has a couple good games?2. Ron Jaworski and Randall Cunningham

He is better than both of those combined. I like both, but neither have had the career McNabb has.

Poor Philly fans... it just doesn't get any better for you guys does it?

McNabb apparently had a mild concussion, was nauseated and vomiting during the game, and still managed monster numbers. And Philly fans boo him. Hilarious.

Philly should have an eternal curse until they change their crappy behavior.

Embrace the fix. That way when you see something that ludicrous you just laugh your ### off. I did.

One final note: As part of their 75th anniversary celebration, the Eagles this season asked the fans to select their all-time team. More than 600,000 votes poured into the team’s web site and McNabb was the landslide winner at quarterback. He received more than 65 percent of the vote, blowing away the field which included Jaworski, Jurgensen, Randall Cunningham and the two quarterbacks who won the only world championship in franchise history, Tommy Thompson (1948-49) and Norm Van Brocklin (1960).Yep they're really turning on him alright.

He was sick which noone knew when they were watching it. They went 13 plays for 79 yards in 3.52. so it wasn't like it was a 10 minute drive to end the game. I thought that they were just trying to take a bit of time to make sure they got the points.

I used to really like McNabb, now I am beginning to think he is a loser. When I look at all the Eagles losses in title games, the Owens comes in and they make it to the SuperBowl, McNabb did not seem to have the winners edge late in that game.

Now when things are going south he is claiming racism. Maybe TO got a bad rap in Philly.

It was rumored that there were more than a few players in the locker room who thought that TO was in the right and DMac was being a punk. I can kind of understand McNabb's agenda in regards to Philly and racism. I don't think that the overwhelming majority of the fans dislike McNabb for his race. Saying McNabb sucks isn't racism. Saying that as a black man, McNabb doesn't have the mental tools to be a QB is. ( Ironically a couple of my friends feel this way....so maybe my small sample, anectodal experiences are accurate for Philly at large). Philly fans as my experiences go, are of both the "what have you done for me lately" and "the grass is always greener" mentality and they've just so happened to have had a pretty long lineage of black QB's (Cunningham-Peete-McNabb) who have had white backups. I remember hearing fans up in Westchester training camp and on 610 saying that they would have like to see Brad Goebel ( a training camp bum) in there instead of Cunningham. Peete had to deal with the Bobby Hoying fanatics and McNabb has had to compete with Feeley and Garcia. With these backups having success on smaller scales I think all of that churns into a "perfect storm" of mis-understanding.

You know, I've never felt that was addressed in a satisfactory fashion, but I would really like to see the drive again, I got this on You Tube

Its somewhat of an explanation, but my contention was, the lack of heat he took for this is an indication of a less-racist climate than he describes. Imagine if that had been Peyton frittering away his opportunity like that.

Wow, so McNabb is blaming TO because TO wanted to stay in the game and that it messed up their formations.Unreal, McNabb needs to invest in a muzzle. Everything that comes out of his mouth is blaming other people for things.

As much as I hate to prop up TO I have to say. TO came back on a bum ankle to play in that game, maybe even risking his career because he wanted to win so bad. McNabb should have played his guts out that last few minutes. He would have a whole off season and a SB trophy to make him feel better. Couln't believe what I was seeing in that game. On film it just looked like a total mental melt down from McNabb. Maybe if he had his brains rattled that would explain it but I have never heard that confirmed.

Funny you should say that. Every time something completely inexplicable happens in a sporting event, my buddy and I look at each other and say "the book." Nuff said.
