3rd annual: DD REQUEST to make it all it can be (1 Viewer)

previous data app threadI posted this a while back in the other forum, and had only lurker replies. PLEASE FBG. You guys are SOOOOO SMART. Withe the algorithms and tech ####. This HAS TO BE POSSIBLE.as one reply to my thread said

I LOVE the DD. The problem is sometimes that keeping up with all the picks that are coming in gets in the way of trading and stategizing. Is it possible to have it autoload from a sportsline/mfl/yahoo "live draft" so that there isn't so much secretarial maintenance required?
WOW! Suggestion of the DECADE there! I never even thought to ask, because it seems beyond possibility. But I'm a total dunce when it comes to technical things in cyberspace. I completely agree with the OP. I find it very difficult just to keep up with the picks and my separate "analysis" in DD to prepare for mine. My league has a 90 second time limit between picks. Further, the 'Yahoo!' host has the picks and the "chat" board in the same window. So, when some guys are chatting, it makes the picks scroll out of the window very quickly. Very frustrating. In fact, this year, I plan to have 2 PCs running - one with the Yahoo draft page, and the other with DD. Going back forth on one screen is almost impossible with my time limit. I'm hoping for a positive response on this possibility from FBG!!!

As a web application developer I can tell you that this is TOTALLY possible. HOWEVER, good luck getting Yahoo, CBS, etc. to cooperate in opening up the data feed necessary to make it happen.

It would be a very nice add. But, I doubt it will happen.

When we draft, I have to enter picks in 3 different places (FF, FanDraft & MFL). Has most definitely taken much of the luster from draft day for me.

I'd be happy if they just made it so you can press ENTER and it would send the highlighted player to the team who's pick it's on... and also navigate the "player pool" with arrows. (right now up and down arrows change position... it'd be nice if it'd scroll through the current position with up and down and add to team w/ enter)

If you click on the 'draft status' window, then pressing ENTER does move the player to the team. And if you don't want to have to click on the 'draft status' window, you can just double-click the player in the 'player pool' window and that will also move him to the team. Also, if you have clicked on a player in the player pool, up and down arrows will move you up and down the players. It's only if you've clicked on a tab that the arrow keys switch position tabs.So yes I agree that being able to move and press ENTER would be ideal, but you can navitage pretty quickly without using the mouse if you:- Click on a player in the 'player pool' so that you are scrolling up and down the list of players (say on the overall tab)- To move a player, press ALT-D (to select the 'draft status' item on the menu), then press ENTER twice (once to activate the window, once to move the player)- To go back to selecting players, press ALT-P (to select the 'player pool' item on the menu), then press ENTERThis is how I deal with fast-paced drafts and it is pretty fast and convenient once you get used to it. Obviously not as fast as just pressing ENTER, though, I agree.

When you guys download DD what program are you using to view it? Every program i use it looks all jacked up like im reading chinese. :lmao:

DD is a stand alone application. No need for a separate program to run it. Head on over to the Applications Forum for more detailed help with DD. There are a number of pinned threads worth reading.

Yes, sorry, should have mentioned. Can use CTRL-TAB to switch between the 'status' and 'pool' windows and then CTRL-SHFT-TAB to switch back. I guess I just use the menu method because it's more similar to Excel...

all I care right now is to have DD support the actual projections currently in the site for EVERY POSITION, including spots for DE/DT and S/CB instead of putting them all in the same basket as DL, DB...this is VERY frustrating...

DD is great and new users, I hate to say this but read the forums. Find the pinned DD thread at the top of the "Applications Forum" and look through it. I hate it too ....but it's needed...

Also, learning DD now will help you maneuver through Lineup Dominator when that gets released the second week of regular season.

Concerning the thread title, all the guys are right - I doubt Yahoo and CBS will ever release their API's......I only join leagues that use MFL but I do have a $100 family league in Yahoo, so I'm stuck w manual changes.

What the heck is LWP
It's a library within the Perl programming language that can be used to retrieve web data.
at least we got a member of the FBG Programming "dream Team" in our thread. Maybe there is hope :banned: :excited:
My involvement with the apps side of things stretches back a long and glorious 12 hours now, so I'll have to defer to Bruce. I agree an auto-update during a draft would be a great thing to have.
