The 49ers claimed and were awarded quarterback Kyle Wright off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

Wright, who attended Monte Vista High in Danville and the University of Miami, was signed by the Vikings as a rookie free agent in April following the draft.

To make room on their roster, the 49ers waived quarterback Drew Olson

There was a lot of hubbub about the Bay Area high school QB crop back when these guys were still in school. We had Kyle Wright (Miami), Drew Olson (UCLA), Trent Edwards (Stanford), Marc Guillon (Miami/Alabama), Sam Keller (Arizona State/Nebraska), and Matt Gutierrez (Michigan) within the same 2 year window. It's definitely been interesting to follow their careers from afar.

Hmm, another PAC-10 QB bust.Shocking.
It's hard to be a bust when you aren't drafted. Olson has had a much better career than the average undrafted free agent QB. He's hung around the league for a couple years and probably cashed some nice paychecks.

Perhaps "bust" isn't the right term, he's still a QB who did very well in the PAC-10 but hasn't done a lick in the NFL.

The overwhelming majority of productive college QB's won't do squat in the NFL.

Like I said, shocking. One might expect the 2nd leading passer, ever, from one of the better schools in the conference of champions, to have done more.
