The 49ers will consider making a bid for former Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks in the July 13 supplemental draft, personnel director Scot McCloughan said Tuesday. Last year at this time, Brooks was being mentioned in the same breath as A.J. Hawk -- picked fifth overall in last month's draft -- when it came to the nation's top linebackers. But the junior's status soon plummeted because of injuries and questions about his maturity.

All this hype over this Brooks character...in a supplemental draft no less. Reminds me of Tony Hollings. Now that guy was a stud!

Correct me if I'm wrong but if a team uses a 2nd round pick, don't they lose their 1st round pick next year?If that's true, then Brooks would be taken in the 3rd/4th round at the earliest.

If you use a second on him You loose your second next year.

The Titans don't have a surplus of picks as an expansion team anymore, so I do not think a 2 will be used.A 3rd at most. Probably a 4-5.

Remember last year when people said Wright would be picked with a third. The Dolphins got him with a 5th.

Teams (except Houston) are more reluctant to use an early round pick because they lose their corresponding pick in the 2007 draft - and they don't know where in that round it may be.
