49ers will have a top 10 offense this year (1 Viewer)

Not next week though. Back to reality against Philly. Frank Gore has been great to me these first two weeks, but I think he's going to be introducing himself to the pine next Sunday. Antonio Bryant on the hand...
Gore looks to be playing at such a high level right now that he will produce versus almost any opponent. Last week we thought it was just because Arizona's defense was soft, but they didn't look too soft today vs. Alexander. Obviously Philly is no cake walk so enthusiasm should be tempered for Gore, but I wouldn't be shocked by 100 yds and a TD while playing @ home. Also, I think Alex Smith should put up some good numbers this week against a banged up and vulnerable Philly secondary.

Now those are some nice quadruplets there.

Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Antonio Bryant, Vernon Davis.

Not a bad young core to start your offense with :)

392 Total Net Yards for SF in Week 3

You may turn out to be right but a lot of their yards are coming when it doesn't count. Alex Smith is gonna be pretty good though and they do have a decent running game. Still think they won't finish in the top ten but they are gonna be closer to ten than to 32.

Umm yeah that was one of the reasons in my original post

I read it like months ago. I'm only one guy Shady, I can't be everywhere at once.

So far the 49ers are 13th in yds/game and 12th in scoring/game. And with games vs SD and CHI those averages will dip :(

But after that they have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way and Im thinking they crack the top 10 by the end of the year

Nov 5 Minnesota 4:05pm Nov 12 @Detroit 1:00pm

Nov 19 Seattle 4:05pm

Nov 26 @St. Louis 1:00pm

Dec 3 @New Orleans 1:00pm

Dec 10 Green Bay 4:05pm

Dec 14 @Seattle 8:00pm

Dec 24 Arizona 4:05pm

Dec 31 @Denver 4:15pm

Not that easy. I think if you said top 15 you would have been closer.

They played thru the tough stretch of their schedule. I wasnt expecting much but the last 2 weeks were atrocious. From here on out they have a very easy schedule. Ill certainly eat my crow if theyre not in the top 10 at year end. Its not looking like they will be.

Top 10 offense, bottom 1 defense...certainly not a recipe for success, but they are better than they were a year ago.

I agree. I was way wrong. I sincerely thought they would be top 10. I will eat my crow now. Let me have it.
They had their moments and with Gore and Alex Smith they certainly are headed in the right direction. Not a horrible prediction, just probably a year early.

Everyone knows the 49ers O will suck. They sucked last year, therefore it's obvious they'll suck this year. Things never change in the NFL. :goodposting:
Things don't change for change sake though. What has improved so much that it will make them one of the best offenses in the league. V. Davis? A. Bryant? Gore? Nice players and upgrades over last year but upgrading from the worst talent at the skill positions to the 4-5 worst doesn't equate to a top 10 finish. They still have probably the worst starting QB in the league, a bad line, below average wr's, average TE's, a below avg RB. I fail to see the reason for any optimism. Seriously, besides maybe Houston, Titans, Browns, Jets and Saints (and even some of those are debatable) who does SF have an edge over at the skill positions? Will they improve from the worst probably but I wouldn't expect them to go higher than 25th.
Was way wrong on Gore but close on the overall... :pickle:Final tally was 26th (303.8 ypg) compared to 32nd (224 ypg) in '05. A substantial increase year on year but they were coming from too far down. Next year it's possible that they pick up the 30 more ypg to get them into the top 10 but still unlikely IMO.
