Hoping to get more discussion on this as I just drew pick 6.
If Rogers is there at 6 and your league awards 6 pts per TD then I believe that he's the unquestioned pick.
With Foster, Rice and McCoy gone I would look to the advantage that the #1 WR or QB provides over the value of the #4 or #5 RB. My view on FFB is that I want my #1 WR to beat my opponent's #1 WR, my #1 RB to beat his #1 RB and so on and I draft accordingly. I feel that getting the #5 RB as opposed to the #1 QB or WR immediately puts you at a disadvantage, especially considering that the NFL has become a passing league. I want to draft a player that gives me, not my opponents, the advantage in the first round.
However, if you think McFadden stays healthy all year or that MDJ doesn't miss a game, stays healthy, and plays like he did last year then I can't fault you for picking either at 6. Chris Johnson is a fine choice here too I guess.
I'm strongly, seriously considering Jimmy Graham at #6 overall in a league that awards 1.5 pts per reception for TEs. This kid's a beast and they use him all over the field.
I'm not sure that I would take a RB in the second round either nor would I expect any of the top 3 QBs to be available. I've got about 4-5 WRs that I'd expect to be available in round 2 that I'd be happy with as my #1 or, even better, my #2 WR if I take Calvin first. If I went Megatron then I would strongly consider Gronk here if available. I will also consider Stafford and Newton here. Lots of non-RB value here. With this approach I'm hoping to negate the loss of points from my yet to be drafted #1 RB.
Third round is where I think I'd look to target a RB just so I don't fall too far behind the top tiers. Here I'd target the likes of Freddie Jackson, Marshaun Lynch and Ahmad Bradshaw. I'd love to land Freddie here as I believe he is ready to pick up where he left off before he broke his leg last year. Spiller is still a COP back.
After my third pick I'll be looking to take the best player available to round out my starting positional players. However, with the above strategy I'm going to be needing RBs to compete so I'm looking to target the likes of Doug Martin, Reggie Bush, Isacc Redman, Kevin Smith, and Peyton Hillis.
I'm interested in hearing the perspective and thoughts of a RB-RB drafter in the first two rounds.
