#8 pick strategy (1 Viewer)

What are you thinking at 2.03 (or.05) at this point. The likes of McGahee, Caddy, and Holt should be there . . . in non-ppr . . . who/what position are you leaning towards?

Drafting from the 8th spot in a 12 team PPR league.

I just got Palmer 8.05.

BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA
who did you end up taking the other night in the 5th?
1 PPR. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR/TE, 1 K, 1 D1.08 Johnson, Rudi CIN RB

2.05 Parker, Willie PIT RB

3.08 Wayne, Reggie IND WR

4.05 Jackson, Darrell SEA WR

5.08 Taylor, Fred JAC RB

6.05 Bell, Tatum DEN RB

7.08 Gonzalez, Tony KCC TE

8.05 Palmer, Carson CIN QB
Nice that Fred Taylor ended up being there, made it easy for you. I'm not so sure about Tatum Bell, but #### that's a nice squad especially if Mike Bell ends up being :bs: .

My nightmare is

1) LJ

2) LT

3) SA

4) tiki

5) Jackson

6) Brown

7) Rudi

Im not excited about any of the next group of RBS.

I want either FWP or Holt in round 2 (2.5) but the latest FBG ADP shows both gone by then. Draft is tomorrow and im pissed. I was all set on taking rudi or Brown, now with all this BS, they are both going 1-7.

With 6 pts per TD, I might go manning, then go after bush or kevin jones and grab all the indy/denver rbs I can.

Mike bell in the 4th

Addai in the 5th

tatum/maroney/ahman green? in the 6th.

:wall: :wall: :wall:

well we had our draft.

it was just amazing.

I was flabbergasted. it was so wierd I didnt know what to do. 1/2 the people were so bad, and the way it was set up i cant take advantage of it (could only draft 4 rbs TOTAL)

I am angry penis

We had our draft last night as well. When I originally got stuck in the #8 spot, I wasn't too happy. But overall I am fairly happy with my team. Ours is a 12 team league, snake draft. Scoring is basically a high performance scoring format (it's actually got quite a few little quirks in it, but I won't list them). Anyway, here it is.

1.08 Rudi Johnson Solid pick IMO. Passed on Portis, Cadillac, Jordan. Of course Steven Jackson went one pick before me. The #7 guy taking my targeted pick right before me would be a recurring theme all night.

2.05 Torry Holt I took him here targeting Bush in the 3rd.

3.08 Deshaun Foster The #7 guy took Bush one pick before I could :hot:

4.05 Reuben Droughns I was going to stick by my RB/WR/RB/WR strategy, but I would have been looking at the likes of Santana Moss, Roy Williams, or DJax here. I opted for my 3rd RB instead, targeting Driver in the 4th. At this point, according to my projections, I had the #1 WR and 3 of the top 17 RB's.

5.08 Donald Driver Whew, he made it to me! I feel like I got a steal here. He was #11 on my projected WR list, and by this time in our draft, 16 WR's were already gone.

6.05 Marc Bulger Here was possibly my biggest mistake of the draft. Not that I think Bulger is a bad player. As the turn came around, I was targeting one of three players- Gonzalez, Heap, or McNabb. Sure enough, the three people in front of me pick them right in order. I was :hot: , and I had to rethink my strategy. I probably should have taken Houshmandzadeh here in hindsight, but I am not terribly disappointed to have Bulger here.

7.08 Rod Smith Once again #7 steals my pick. Obviously Houshmandzadeh was off the board by now, so I targeted Kennison or Muhammad. Muhammad was picked at 7.03, so I waited. Sure enough, 7.07 Kennison.

8.05 Laveranues Coles According to my projections, he was the best receiver left on the board. Also, his bye week worked well to cover my starting WR's.

9.08 Brett Favre It was between Vick and Favre for me here. I just don't have enough faith in Vick yet. Even with all the INT's Favre throws, I still felt he was a better option here. According to my projections, I am now sitting with 2 of my top 8 QB's.

10.05 Ben Watson He was the highest remaining TE on my list. It was either him or LJ Smith, Heath Miller, or Vernon Davis. I like Watson's upside much better than the other three.

11.08 Wali Lundy If someone had said to me before the draft that I was going to take Lundy at all, I probably would have said they were crazy. But when he dropped this far I had to rethink things. I could have taken Morency, Brandon Jacobs, Mike Anderson, or Greg Jones here. I like Lundy better than Morency at this point, and if he ends up playing well at the start of the season, I could see Kubiak leaving him in. Even if he busts, it was fairly low risk. I also feel that he has the potential (at least initially) to make more of a FF impact than any of the four RB's I listed here. And #7 robbed me one more time for the night. He took Troy Williamson out from under my nose one pick before me.

12.05 Samie Parker  Could be huge, could be a flameout. I really like Trent Green's schedule at the start of the year.

13.08 Tampa Bay Buccaneers DEF Very surprised to see them drop this far. They were the 12th DEF selected in our draft. Some people must have been drunk. :D

14.05 David Akers Pleasantly surprised to see the 4th kicker on my board available to me here, especially when 7 had alrady been taken.

Had my draft yesterday as well. I felt a little better about my chances of getting a good back when the guy picking #1 showed why by choosing Manning. :lmao: I traded 2.5, 3.8, and 5.8 for 2.10, 3.3, and 5.3 - here's how it shook out :

1.8 - Rudi Johnson (Manning :lmao: , LJ, Tomlinson, Alexander, Brown, Tiki, and Jackson went 1-7)

2.10 - Larry Fitzgerald (It was him or Moss.... Holt, Chad Johnson, Smith and Harrison were gone. I was hoping for Parker here, but he went at 2.1. Started thinking Warrick Dunn or Reggie Bush, but they went off at 2.4 and 2.5. LaMont Jordan fell all the way to 2.8, started thinking I'd get him, but no dice.)

3.3 - Brian Westbrook (Had him #15 overall, and he was a better option than Droughns or Taylor. T.O. and Boldin were still around, but T.O. scares me and I didn't want 2 Arizona WRs.)

4.5 - Donald Driver (16 receivers had already gone and the run was on.)

5.3 - Derrick Mason (Strongly considered Brady and Hasselbeck here, but decided to go with my #17 WR. Droughns almost fell to here, in which case, I'd have taken him, but he went at 4.12.

6.5 - Mike Bell (If he holds on to the starting job, this is larceny. Was going to take a QB, but Brady and Hasselbeck went 6.1 and 6.2)

7.8 - Deuce McAllister (Held off again on a QB, as I was the only one who hadn't drafted one.)

8.5 - Jake Plummer (had him as a top 10 QB, so this is decent value, IMO.)

9.8 - Michael Clayton (held off on another QB to take my #30 receiver as a backup)

10.5 - LenDale White

11.8 - Mike Vick (I don't love this pick. Was torn between him, Simms, and Rivers - I maybe should have taken Rivers. QBs only get 1 point per 25 yards rushing in our system and all TDs are 6, so Vick's value is diminished.)

12.5 - Jeff Reed

13.8 - Tampa Bay D (10th defense taken.. surprising)

14.5 - Jon Kitna (passed on another WR to go 3 deep at QB, which I never do. However, he could end up being a starter for me, so in round 14, I took a flyer.)

15.8 - Stephen Gostkowski

16.5 - Arizona D

So there you have it.

Results from a 12 team QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/K/D redraft.

1 per 25 / 1 per 10 / 1 per catch / 6 per all TDs / 10 pt bonus at 100 yards / 5 pt for 250 and 5 per 50 thereafter

I had my 12 team redraft yesterday from the 8 slot:

1.8 Rudi Johnson =====C. Williams, Portis and Manning went next (Portis was who I debated)

2.5 Torry Holt ======Fitz, Harrison, Parker, Westbrook were the next picks

3.8 Roy Williams ======Mike Bell was the pick before and Ward, Jones and Chester Taylor the next 3

4.5 Dominic Rhodes ==== Darrell Jackson, Santana Moss, TJ Housh the next 3

5.8 Cedric Benson ====McNabb, Horn, Tatem Bell, Bulger went next. I was debating Bulger with this pick and decided to try and get him in the 6th. Obviously didnt work out.

6.5 Lee Evans ====Burleson, Delhomme, Ahman Green went next

7.8 Joey Galloway ===== Coles, Kinneson, Kevin Curtis went next

8.5 Chris Cooley ======Lendale White, Chicago D, Muhammed went next

9.8 Duante Culpepper ======A. Bryant, Indy D and A. Vinitieri went next

10.5 Seattle D =====Sammie Parker, E. Moulds, Ben Roth went next

11.8 Ben Watson ======Trent Green, E. Wilford, Giants D went next

12.5 Vernand Morency =====Josh Brown, TJ Duckett, Vernon Davis went next

13.8 Michael Jenkins =====Jeff Reed, Duce Staley, Jerry Porter went next

14.5 Brett Favre =====M. Turner, Amani Toomer, Mark Clayton went next

15.8 Michael Pittman ======Miami D, Bubba Franks, Chris Simms went next

16.5 Lawrence Tynes =====D. Gabriel, Randel-El and Lelie went next

IMO

RED = REACH (I could have taken Bulger there and probably gotten Benson in the 6th)

BLUE = VERY GOOD VALUE

Ben Watson was TE12 off the board.

Culpepper was QB13

D. Rhodes was RB23

I had my 12 team redraft yesterday from the 8 slot:

1.8 Rudi Johnson =====C. Williams, Portis and Manning went next (Portis was who I debated)

2.5 Torry Holt ======Fitz, Harrison, Parker, Westbrook were the next picks

3.8 Roy Williams ======Mike Bell was the pick before and Ward, Jones and Chester Taylor the next 3

4.5 Dominic Rhodes ==== Darrell Jackson, Santana Moss, TJ Housh the next 3

5.8 Cedric Benson ====McNabb, Horn, Tatem Bell, Bulger went next. I was debating Bulger with this pick and decided to try and get him in the 6th. Obviously didnt work out.

6.5 Lee Evans ====Burleson, Delhomme, Ahman Green went next

7.8 Joey Galloway ===== Coles, Kinneson, Kevin Curtis went next

8.5 Chris Cooley ======Lendale White, Chicago D, Muhammed went next

9.8 Duante Culpepper ======A. Bryant, Indy D and A. Vinitieri went next

10.5 Seattle D =====Sammie Parker, E. Moulds, Ben Roth went next

11.8 Ben Watson ======Trent Green, E. Wilford, Giants D went next

12.5 Vernand Morency =====Josh Brown, TJ Duckett, Vernon Davis went next

13.8 Michael Jenkins =====Jeff Reed, Duce Staley, Jerry Porter went next

14.5 Brett Favre =====M. Turner, Amani Toomer, Mark Clayton went next

15.8 Michael Pittman ======Miami D, Bubba Franks, Chris Simms went next

16.5 Lawrence Tynes =====D. Gabriel, Randel-El and Lelie went next

IMO

RED = REACH (I could have taken Bulger there and probably gotten Benson in the 6th)

BLUE = VERY GOOD VALUE

Ben Watson was TE12 off the board.

Culpepper was QB13

D. Rhodes was RB23
I would agree with your assessments - nicely done, your team is solid. Culpepper was QB2 taken in my league - that was a head-scratcher.

Drafted from the 8th position in a long-time 10-team PPR performance-scoring league. I'd say 6 of the owners are sharks and the rest are ok, but there were some reaches in the early rounds this year (particularly at QB) that helped me out tremendously. I'll go through the first 10 rounds and mention other value picks that appeared later in the draft:

1.08 Ronnie Brown RB (was eyeing Rudi Johnson at this position, but he was drafted the pick before).

2.03 Torry Holt WR (my personal favorite to be the #1WR, I was happy he fell to me here. Steve Smith and T.O. went at 2.01 and 2.02 respectively).

3.08 Reggie freaking Bush RB (I've been chiding owners in here for the last few weeks for reaching for this guy; I honestly didn't think he'd last this far into the draft; other options were Droughns, Foster, or a borderline low tier WR1/high tier WR2; I chose to go with upside at this position).

4.03 Warrick Dunn RB (solid value pick here; right about at his ADP, which I feel is a little later than it should be).

5.08 Roy Williams WR (although he's been another player I have accused others of reaching for, I was ecstatic that he fell to me here; he went a round later than he should have).

6.03 Todd Heap TE (I agonized over this pick perhaps more than any other; I had told myself I would not draft a TE this early, because I was targetting Watson in the 9th at 9.08 -- Watson eventually ended up going at 9.04 and I would have been really burnt if I hadn't drafted a TE before then. I basically had a dilemma to choose between Heap and Jamal Lewis who was miraculously still available. I already had some good RB depth so I went with Heap).

7.08 Eddie Kennison WR (Oh how I was burnt with this pick; Jamal Lewis was actually still UNDRAFTED in the SEVENTH ROUND, until he was picked up at 7.07 right before me. Man was I pissed -- I let out a few loud F-bombs. Would've loved to have had JL there, but alas, Kennison represented the best WR value on the board so I chose him as my WR3; might have been a bit of a reach since his ADP is 09.10).

8.03 Lawrence Maroney RB (liked the value here, esp. with the questions surrounding Dillon).

9.08 Laveranues Coles WR (another ok pick; right at about his ADP)

10.03 Brett Favre QB (my first QB off the board; I was the last team to draft a QB; many other QBs went in rounds 4-6; Bulger, who I was gunning for and who was the fourth ranked QB on my cheatsheet, got snatched up the pick right before me; GD it!)

Other picks worth mentioning:

11.08 Dominic Rhodes; 12.03 Tatum Bell (can't believe these two fell to me here).

Happy with my draft, but would have been much happier with Bulger as my QB1 instead of Favre.

I agree -- I was overjoyed he fell to me there. Addai was picked up at 6.02!!! I had Rhodes ADP at 07.09. Where did you pick Rhodes up in your draft?

I took him 4.5 as RB 23 and my RB2.

I just finished my draft earlier tonight. Drafted 8th in a 12 team re-draft league. I took Rudi Johnson in the 1st round, Payton Manning in the 2nd and then was shocked to see Portis still there in the 3rd.......nobody wanted to bite because of his shoulder and Duckett vulturing TD's. I grabbed Portis and then took a shot on T.O. in the 4th (again, nobody wanted T.O. cuz of his hammy and his foolishness). Huge upside/high risk, high reward team. If Portis and T.O. come thru......I'll be taking home the trophy.....if they battle injuries all year or just implode (T.O) then I'll be dwelling in the cellar.

ive been grabbing rhodes in the 5th and maroney in the 6th.

btw, mike bell went in the 3rd and 2nd in my drafts. I built my entire draft around grabbing him in the 4th. yikes

Here is how a guy in my league drafted from the 8 spot, 12 team PPR.

1.08 Caddy Williams

2.05 Warrick Dunn

3.08 Donald Driver

4.05 Ruben Droughns

5.08 Darryl Jackson

6.05 Rod Smith

7.08 Mushin Muhammad

8.05 Jake Plummer

9.08 LJ Smith

10.05 Brett Favre

11.08 Michael Bennett

12.05 Joe Jurevicius

13.08 Jason Elam

14.05 Seattle DEF

15.08 Michael Booker

16.05 Ryan Moats

17.08 Jerramy Stevens

18.05 Arnaz Battle

just completed a 12 team draft where i picked from the 8th spot...here is how it went..what do you think?

1.8 - Rudi Johnson (cadillac williams, portis were still there)

2.5 - torry holt (first WR taken....so all wr, willi parker still avilable)

3.8 - Terrell Owens (droughns was still there, but i thought he could possibly last till my pick in the 4th since everyone else already had 2 rbs..)

4.5 - Jamal Lewis (deshaun foster or him were my options..i chose him since i dont think foster will hold onto the job)

5.8 - todd heap - (i was going to take watson late as my TE but this was the best value available)

6.5 - Fred Taylor (top rb left)

7.8 - Dominic Rhodes (could be a steal)

8.5 - Lavernous Coles

9.8 - Michael Vick (wanted farve, went pick before..draft dominator has vick ranked as 6th qb in my system though)

10.5 - Aaron Brooks

there are the first 10 rounds..i also picked up Travis taylor in the 14th, and my last pick of hte draft, WALI Lundy..which could be huge...what do you guys think? should i not of take owens???

$500 12 Team redraft on phenoms.......the sharks were circling in full force  ;)

QB/RB/WR/WR/Flex/Flex/TE/K/D

i picked from the 8 spot...

1.08 - Edge - although I really wanted Ronnie Brown who was taken 6th I believe.

2.05 - R. Moss - huge run on WRs started right away with Holt, S. Smith, Chad Johnson, Fitz, Harrison selected before me. (scoring is 1 ppr for WR and .5 ppr for RB)

3.08 - H. Ward - still a ton of RBs left, so figured I would grab one in the 4th and go with Hines who I'm hoping posts another top 10 year (especially if they can't run the ball as consistently as last year).

4.05 - J. Lewis - happy to see him slip to the 4th (RB 22), as a revamped offense should help him easily finish higher than RB22 assuming he's healthy (i know, a big assumption)

5.08 - J. Shockey - Expect to see WR type numbers from him this year as Eli gets more comfortable. Heap and Gonzo were the next two selections. I actually really wanted Lee Evans here, because he is going to blow up this year, but he was gone at the beginning of the round.

6.05 - DeAngelo Will - Probably a tad early here, but if Deshaun goes down, DeAngelo should produce well. Also, not sure DeShaun can handle an entire workload himself anyway. Hopefully this pick pays dividends mid-season.

7.08 - Bulger - secured the QB position with a reliable passer who gets both yards and tds on a team that will probably be trailing a lot due to a weak Defense. Just stay healthy now. Was thinking C-Pep, but held off.

8.05 - D. Stallworth - absolutely horrid pick. I cracked under pressure here as I needed another WR badly. If Horn goes down, Stallworth will produce as he did in the games without horn last year....but I'm nauseous over this pick. :yucky:

9.08 - S. Gado - looking forward to a lot of goaline carries from gado in green bay this year. When? I don't know.l

10.05 - Moulds - WR heavy league, so I'll take my chances Moulds gets the ball thrown his way. Still a great talent, just needs to get looks which I think he will in single coverage.

11.08 - Lefty - Reliable QB good for at least 1TD in every game. Consistency is good.

12.05 - Colts D (chi, car, and pitt went long before).

there were 6 more picks made (got Greg Jennings, M. Booker, M. Anderson handcuff, etc.)

Basically, this is the all-injury squad filled with guys on my bench who will shine if other players on their teams get banged up. I do regret not taking MBIII when I had the chance.

Starting Lineup:

QB Bulger

RB Edge

RB J. Lewis

WR R. Moss

WR H. Ward

WR D. Stallworth

TE J. Shockey

PK S. Graham

Def Colts D

Lots of Rudi/Holt combos from the 8 spot. I hope for our sake that we know what the hell we were doing.

agreed! That is exactly what I took yesterday at my draft. I am also seeing Owens falling in drafts into the mid to late 3rd round. Do you guys think that is worth the gamble? Having Rudi, Holt, and Owens could be huge if you can find a couple of viable backs in the 4th on. what do you all think?

Those first four rounds were crazy good for you in a keeper league.

10.03 Brett Favre QB (my first QB off the board; I was the last team to draft a QB; many other QBs went in rounds 4-6; Bulger, who I was gunning for and who was the fourth ranked QB on my cheatsheet, got snatched up the pick right before me; GD it!)Happy with my draft, but would have been much happier with Bulger as my QB1 instead of Favre.
Same boat, though 12 teams. Took Favre as QB1 at 9.08 -- the seventeenth QB taken. They're particularly valuable in this league's scoring, but I still didn't expect that much of a run.

Thanks. I was trying to fill out my roster with consistent yet unsexy picks. The key in PPR leagues is to have a couple of WRs who consistently get you 5 for 50, yet have good opportunity to get TDs. Rod Smith, Bruce and Kennison fit this perfectly, and I'm certain I'll pick the wrong two every week.I was hoping to get at least one other young backup RB, but it seemed like they were all stolen right out from under me. Gado, Tatum, Norwood, Turner, and Morency were all sniped within two picks of my turn. Looks like I should have targeted at least one of them a round earlier than I wanted to.

Had my 8 slot draft last night... here it goes (fwiw, its a 2 QB league).

Only hitch to the league is one any-flex position - where you REALLY need a QB (plus QBs get bonus at 250 yards, no other position has one). Think of it as a two qb league. But this throws a lot of #### into the air re: ADP and draft strategy. 12 Teamer.

1.8 - Peyton Manning - Never thought he would drop this far and Tiki SOMEhow made it to the 7th pick. I really wanted Tiki, but decided that with the emphasis on QB in this league, esp. those that throw yards, Manning won out over the stready but not gamebreaking Rudi.

2.5 - Willie Parker - Portis nabbed one before me or I would have taken the chance. Regardless, Parker is not only the man in Pitt, there is no 2nd man. Should be a solid week to week performer with some good highs.

3. 8 - Dante Culpepper - He was the last QB I would consider taking the 4th... wow, BIG QB run. He was 10th taken I think and I decided Id get my other RB after the turn. Passed on Boldin and Moss whom I had orginally targeted, had I gone Rudi (as expected)

4.5 - DeShaun Foster - Never thought I'd draft him, but was best value IMO. I know this meant I needed DeAngelo Williams, but if I didnt #### that up, I would seal a good backfield, and that would be more than solid with the QB tandem I have, negating RB as a weakness

5.8 - Donald Driver - Great value here IMO. I admit Ive never been as big a fan of Driver as most, but at this point with no WRs, I needed to put aside my bias and take by far the best value on the board. Was very happy and caused a number of groans with this one.

6.5 - Joe Horn - Had a bunch of options here, and JUST missed out on Mason (was bummed about that). However Horn is a top 7 talent, albeit not a youngin' - and last year was just one of those years for Team Katrina, so I discount it to some degree. Yeah, there is risk - but who else is going to catch balls out there, and they should have a good offense.

7.8 - Matt Jones - Maybe a hair higher than he "should" go, but I really wanted him and his talent. This was all about upside, and Jones has it at the position I need it most.

8.5 - Ahman Green - Gave serious thought to taking DeAngelo here, but I didnt want to waste a chance to have a comeback player who has had ups and downs and hopefully one more up, in his career. If I miss on DeAngelo, have to pray, but if he drops (and no rookies were taken yet) then I realy turned a weakness into an ok position with posiiblility of being good.

9.8 - DeAngelo Williams - Ok, Maroney went 6 picks earlier. Very happy to get the Carolina backfield with two talented backs. Not looking to win the league here, but it will help me not lose it, having gone Manning in the first and Culpepper in the third.

10.5 - Michael Clayton - I almost took another chance on Williams because I couldnt believe Clayton was still around (easy top 30, with top 15-22 upside). My fav pick of the day, especially since WR is my weakness

11.8 - Wali Lundy - Hey, he had a decent chance to be the starter, having won his job against a decent showing by Morency and my RBs are not exactly the best. Today it became official.

12.5 - Chad Pennington - The LAST QB on the board who was worth squat and better than a number taken imo. Being from NY, we didnt really need today's news about him starting, you sort of just knew. In a two QB league, he will provide key insurance, especially with Culpepper.

13.8 Samie Parker - Pretty happy with this pick. Dont really know too much, but I hear the hype/rumblings about upside. Green seems to like him.

14.5 Heath Miller - Last team to take a TE, but I knew some teams would takea second and needed something there. Some upside.

15.8 Travis Taylor - Having missed out on Williamson who dropped WAY too far, I took the safest pick in Minn, fwiw (and I dont expect much). Was just, by far, the best "value" on the board. He either benefits from the situation or gets cut for a hot WW pickup.

16.5 Greg Jennings - WR is my weakness, so I got a bunch of upside guys. With Driver's all out style, a little bit of a safety net too.

Pick up D and K through WW as we have a roster of 18.

Overall, drafting 8th forced me to draft very differently than I would have planned to. The two QB thing makes it hard for me to read also, though I feel ok. Not great, but ok.

That said, OK with Manning could do well without Edge. If they want to throw, we know they can.

Here's how I fared Saturday from the 8 spot:

1.08 Brown, Ronnie MIA RB

Pretty much who I wanted. Only scenario I wanted to avoid was one where I had to pick Lamont Jordan. I like Ronnie better

2.05 Owens, Terrell DAL WR

I was pretty sure a top 4 WR was going to be here. Even Chad Johnson, my #1 rated WR this year had often fallen to 17, but 4 WRs went off the board and I took my number 5.

3.08 Jones, Kevin DET RB

Pretty good value, but if I knew I was getting Jamal in round 4 instead of Driver or Plax, I'd have drafted Reggie Wayne. As it stands, the Wayne owner turned out to be weak at RB and I'm strong. I think we'll get a deal done.

4.05 Lewis, Jamal BAL RB

Really happy to have him here. The Balt offense is going to look completely different this year.

5.08 Jones, Matt JAC WR

Reach! I just like him, didn't like the 5th round RBs. I think you'll see I fared better at RB than I could have here.

6.05 Evans, Lee BUF WR

Another of my favorites. Needs better QB play.

7.08 Taylor, Fred JAC RB

8.05 Vick, Michael ATL QB

This is the QB I was targeting. He was the 10th off the board. I could not wait any longer as the dominator was telling 5 others in the room to pick him and 2 of those people didn't have their starting QB yet.

9.08 Watson, Ben NEP TE

Steal!

10.05 Bruce, Isaac STL WR

Bleh

11.08 Toomer, Amani NYG WR

Bleh

12.05 Porter, Jerry OAK WR

Bleh

13.08 Favre, Brett GBP QB

The Wayne owner is a HUGE Favre fan and drafts him every year. Favre is trade bait to help get that Kevin Jones for Reggie Wayne deal done.

14.05 Henry, Travis TEN RB

Yessss.

15.08 Drew, Maurice JAC RB

And half the room groaned as they were all planning to snag him with their 16th pick.

16.05 Bennett, Michael KCC RB

We'll see.

My strategy is to try to get your pick in before the guy picking 9th drafts.

I tried to explain this to Minnesota, but they wouldn't listen.

:blackdot: Picking eighth in an eight-teamer (I know) Tuesday. Gotta mark this so I can come back and get some solid info.

I'm pretty happy with how things turned out for me. 12 teamer, no PPR:

1.8 Portis - LJ, Alexander, LT, Tiki, R. Brown, R. Johnson, Steven Jackson

2.5 Fitzgerald - Steve Smith was off the board, but all other WRs available

3.8 Dunn - good value w/o Duckett

4.5 McNabb - QB4 with Manning, Palmer, and Brady off the board

5.8 Dominic Rhodes - stole him to empty the draft pool of starting RBs

6.5 Maroney - maybe a round early, but I didn't want the Dillon owner to get him

7.8 Michael Clayton - WRs got thin fast

8.5 Muhammad - pray for Griese

9.8 Kellen Winslow - just missed out on Watson and Miller

10.5 Ravens D

11.8 Favre

12.5 Akers

13.8 Cedrick Wilson - sleeper

14.5 Musa Smith - sleeper

15.8 Scheffler - sleeper

16.5 Koenen - thought i'd get Gostkowski here, went one pick before

Had my draft yesterday as well. I felt a little better about my chances of getting a good back when the guy picking #1 showed why by choosing Manning. :lmao: I traded 2.5, 3.8, and 5.8 for 2.10, 3.3, and 5.3 - here's how it shook out :1.8 - Rudi Johnson (Manning :lmao: , LJ, Tomlinson, Alexander, Brown, Tiki, and Jackson went 1-7)2.10 - Larry Fitzgerald (It was him or Moss.... Holt, Chad Johnson, Smith and Harrison were gone. I was hoping for Parker here, but he went at 2.1. Started thinking Warrick Dunn or Reggie Bush, but they went off at 2.4 and 2.5. LaMont Jordan fell all the way to 2.8, started thinking I'd get him, but no dice.)3.3 - Brian Westbrook (Had him #15 overall, and he was a better option than Droughns or Taylor. T.O. and Boldin were still around, but T.O. scares me and I didn't want 2 Arizona WRs.)4.5 - Donald Driver (16 receivers had already gone and the run was on.)5.3 - Derrick Mason (Strongly considered Brady and Hasselbeck here, but decided to go with my #17 WR. Droughns almost fell to here, in which case, I'd have taken him, but he went at 4.12.6.5 - Mike Bell (If he holds on to the starting job, this is larceny. Was going to take a QB, but Brady and Hasselbeck went 6.1 and 6.2)7.8 - Deuce McAllister (Held off again on a QB, as I was the only one who hadn't drafted one.)8.5 - Jake Plummer (had him as a top 10 QB, so this is decent value, IMO.)9.8 - Michael Clayton (held off on another QB to take my #30 receiver as a backup)10.5 - LenDale White11.8 - Mike Vick (I don't love this pick. Was torn between him, Simms, and Rivers - I maybe should have taken Rivers. QBs only get 1 point per 25 yards rushing in our system and all TDs are 6, so Vick's value is diminished.)12.5 - Jeff Reed13.8 - Tampa Bay D (10th defense taken.. surprising)14.5 - Jon Kitna (passed on another WR to go 3 deep at QB, which I never do. However, he could end up being a starter for me, so in round 14, I took a flyer.)15.8 - Stephen Gostkowski16.5 - Arizona DSo there you have it.
I like your team. Picks I especially like:3 Westbrook4 Driver6 M. Bell (he went mid 3rd round in my draft)7 DeuceThought you were a little early on the kicker and with only 16 roster spots (same as my league), you are sacrificing depth (when some positions are not solidified yet) to have 2 kickers and 2 D's on your squad.

12 Team redraft last night. I will warn you, that we redraw the draft order every odd round, although until the 7th round, I picked either 8th or 9th, so it should give an indication

Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def.

1.08 - S. Jackson - SA, LJ, LT, Tiki, Caddy, Rudi all went before my pick.

2.05 - Chad Johnson - Targeting Parker here, but he went 2.03

3.09 - Roy Williams - Was going to go RB (Dunn went 3.08), but didn't think the talent was worthy, so I picked the best WR.

4.04 - Droughns - Not crazy about Rueben as my RB2, but that was the best I could do.

5.08 - Delhomme - Only 2 QB gone, so I figured I would beat everyone to the punch. I like him more than Hasselbeck

6.05 - A. Green - Needed another back. Slim pickings. Bye week issue with Droughns, but I needed another back.

7.01 - Wali Lundy - Wanted one more starter. Was going to take Heap, but didn't think Lundy would last. e wouldn't have.

8.12 - Coles - Wanted Ben Watson here and missed.

9.03 - Witten

10.10 - L.J. Smith

11.07 - Wilford

12.06 - Givens

13.04 - C. Simms - Solid backup

14.09 - Jeff Reed

15.11 - Miami

16.02 - Michael Koenen - Wish I would have taken NE Def. here for Def. by committee. Didn't figue anyone else would take them. I was wrong.

17.08 - Tenn Def.

I had 6th pick in my 10 team league (1qb,2RB,3,WR,1TE,1RB/WR,1K,1DEF- 1pt per 10yd rec, 1 pt per 10yd rush, 1pt per 25yds pass, 6pts per td, ...)

I drafted the following:

R. Johnson RB

C. Taylor RB

R. Droughns RB

H. Ward WR

J. Delhomme QB

T. Houshmandzadeh WR

T. Williamson WR

D. Bledsoe QB

E. Kennison WR

Washington DEF

C. Houston RB

J. Elam K

B. Watson TE

K. Winslow TE

A. Brooks QB

S. Graham K

Minnesota DEF

Ma. Clayton WR

ended up dropping Minn, Winslow, Graham, Bledsoe, Houston and adding Lundy, Morency, G. Jennings, Givens and Norwood. Hated letting go of Bledsoe and Winslow...but need to shore up receivers and rb's

Had our draft last night, ended up picking 8th. Typical 12 team draft: QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, W/R, TE, K, DEF

1.08 Rudi Johnson Passed on Brown, Cadillac, Jordan.

2.05 Willis McGahee Jordan went right before me.

3.08 Reggie Bush Wanted at least 2, hopefully 3 of my top 15 RB within the first 3 picks, with a big run at WR I was able to snatch up Bush.

4.05 Donald Driver Needed a solid WR.

5.08 Daunte Culpepper Reach. TJ Houshmandzadeh was picked right before me and I panicked. Probably should have taken A. Johnson or D. Mason at WR

6.05 Thomas Jones Good value. I honestly think hes a better RB then Benson, hopefully he stays healthy. But with Rudi, Willis, and Bush, Jones will be good insurance.

7.08 Eddie Kennison I'm always surprised how every year this guy gets passed up. Trent Green has thrown for over 4,000 yards the past 3 years, he has to throw it to someone.

8.05 Muhsin Muhammad Targeted Terry Glen but picked one spot ahead of me. Think Mussa will bounce back from an off year last year.

9.08 Jake Plummer Was surprised he lasted this long. Good backup to complement Culpepper

10.05 Ben Watson Was targeting him as my TE after a run of TE started in the 6th. Hopefully he'll live up to the pre-draft hype.

11.08 Marion Barber II Follow the Cowboys and love the way Barber runs. Has the power to break threw the line and the patience and speed to break a long one. Also a goaline threat taking carries away from Julius.

12.05 Troy Williamson Needed WR depth. I'll take a WR1 on a bad team over a WR2 or WR3 on a good team, esp this late in the draft.

13.08 Dallas Homer pick. Really think the Dallas D can be special this year though. Have plenty of young, hungry players on D.

14.05 Matt Stover We have to start one so I guess I should draft one.

15.08 Michael Turner Could start on most NFL teams. LT will probably carry the team with Rivers still learning. Lots of carries=Injury? Who knows? Possible trade bait to LT owner.

Well thats it. Overall I was happy with my draft. Have good starting RB and servicable QB and WR but good depth throughout the positions. Hopefully that translates to a championship run.

Thanks guys for reading, any feedback would be appreciated

Drafted 8th in 12 team performance league, start 1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 2 flex, K and def, all TDs 6 pts.

1.08 RBrown- 6 RBs and Manning (6th overall) went before me

2.05 Holt-Wanted to go RB/WR/RB/WR. Caddy went just before me, would have thrown my stategy out the window if he wewre still avail. Passed on Westbrook

3.08 DFoster-after a big run on RBs in the 2nd and 3rd, took Foster with plans to handcuff later

4.05 Houshmandzadeh-Missed out on Boldin and Chambers. Wanted a piece of the Cinci offense. Took Housh over Driver, and was very happy when Driver fell to me in the 5th

5.08 Driver-Could have had TJones, AGreen or DRhodes, was happy to get Driver as my WR3 here. Gives me great depth

6.05 Lundy- Loved it when half the guys in my league said "WHO??" Now, as soon as I handcuff Foster, I'll be strong at RB, WR and flex.

7.08 TGreen- Targeted him here all along, passed on Brooks, Favre, McNair & Plummer. 14th QB taken overall.

8.05 DWilliams-Now half the guys in my league said "Oh S###!" I'm glad I didn't wait until the 9th round

9.08 Kitna-Was targeting Simms as my backup, just missed on him. Kitna plays GB during Green's bye

10.05 Pittsburgh defense-Wanted one of my top 5 ranked defenses, was happy to get the one with the earliest bye (so I can dump my backup defense early for another player)

11.08 Feely-Highest ranked kicker left on my list

12.05 Koenen-Targeted him from the get go...I bet he winds up being my #1 kicker for most of the year

13.08 Philly defense

As long as Trent Green acts like a starting QB, brushes off last years minislump and throws down his usual 4000 & 24, I think this team can go all the way...

First year dynasty league I am drafting from the 8 spot (12 team). It is a PPR league. So far my draft looks like:1.08 - Jordan2.05 - Fitz3.08 - JJones4.05 - Plaxico5.08 - D Mason6.05 - BulgerAs I mentioned it is a PPR league but RBs were going off the board right and left. In fact after the 6th round there were two owners who had 4RB and only 1WR. Because of the number of RBs taken, RB options were slim and WR's presented a bigger scoring option. This is now how I played out my draft at all since I figured WRs would go off the board much quicker (S. Smith went off the board late in the 2nd). I thought there would be better options RB options available to me in the earlier rounds but I was wrong. Then again I wasn't happy with the 8 spot to begin with.
Well the :e: draft ended a few weeks back and I never updated how things shaped up for me.6 PT/TD1 PPR1st year dynasty leagueQB - Bulger, RiversRB - Jordan, JJones, Dayne, Norwood, Barber III, AndersonWR - Fitzgerald, Burress, Glenn, Mason, B. MarshallTE - Stevens, WigginsPK - KasayDEF - Steelers, CardinalsNot the happiest with my RB but as I referenced above, RBs went off the board right and left so with the PPR league WRs represented my best value. This team gives me tools to upgrade my team. Some notes:I drafted Dayne when he was named the starter before preseason. About an hour after the pick M Bell was named the starter :wall: I was happy to get Norwood. I have been on the Norwood bandwagon for a while now and hope he will be a great dynasty addition for years to come.I have targeted Rivers in all three of my leagues and was happy to get Rivers here in the dynasty league. I debated about taking him in the 9th but I am glad I did since moleculo drafted right behind me and he intended to take Rivers so I drafted him at the best time. Here is to Jordan and JJones having a strong year :pickle: :pickle:

Just finished my 10-teamer at the 8 spot. 2QB, 3RB, 4WR, 2TE, 2K, 2 d/st. 4pt/pass td, 6pt/run-rec TD, bonuses at 100yd run-rec, 300pass and 7receptions.

1.08 - Rudi

2.03 - Portis

3.08 - Wayne

4.03 - Foster

5/08 - Driver

6.03 - Fred Taylor (was thinking McNabb here, but with Portis sit. week1 needed a solid backup RB)

7.08 - Plummer (huge run on QBs - i was pissed)

8.03 - Lee Evans

9.08 - Ben Watson

10.03 - Drew Bennett

11.08 - Leftwich

12.03 - Reggiw Brown

13.08 - Brandon Lloyd

14.03 - Kitna

15.08 - Bubba Franks (I immediately regretted this as my TEs have the same BYE :wall: )

16.03 - Stephen Davis (wasnt sure what to do here, so figured maybe get a vulture here)

17.08 - EAGLES

18.03 - Jeff Wilkins

19.08 - Ryan Longwell

20.03 - Jason Hanson (we start 2 kickers - I drafted 3 that kick indoors)

21.08 - BRONCOS

22.03 - CHARGERS (we start 2 d/st I feel like i have 3 good 1's and 2 have early BYEs so I can cut 1 early for other pick-ups w/o losing a player)

23.08 - Rashied Davis ( I always go sleeper WR last)

QB: Plummer, Leftwich, Kitna

RB: Rudi, Portis, Foster, Fred Taylor, Stephen Davis

WR: Wayne, Driver, Evans, Bennett, Reggie Brown, Lloyd, Rashied Davis

TE: Watson, Bubba

K: Wilikins, Longwell, Hanson

D/ST: Eagles, Broncos, Chargers
