9TH PICK PPR STRATEGY (re-draft/serpentine) (1 Viewer)

If there is a thread that already exists on this topic, I apologize and ask that you please merge this thread or direct me.

If not, let this be the place for us with the 9th pick overall to come and discuss our pending drafts and/or publish our results.

Today is the first day that I've even really begun to start looking and from ADP, it looks like the following players are likely to be available based on current ADP:

McFadden - RB

Forte - RB

Murray - RB

Brees - QB (maybe)

W/ Megaton most certainly off the board, is there any other WR worthwhile to consider at 9?

No receivers should be touched in the first round (besides Calvin). Backs will be falling at that point.
I couldn't possibly disagree more. All of the RB's listed in this area have HUGE question marks.I'm giving serious consideration to Julio at #9. I've done a bunch of mocks today on FFcalculator and it's a 50-50 proposition that he makes it back to you at 2.03. My strategy so far has been to start WR-WR and then draft for value the rest of the way. My teams typically end up looking like thisJulioFitz or Andre (take your pick)Marshall or AJ Green (take your pick)Bush or McGahee (take your pick)Ridley or HillisWitten/DavisAnother RB - typically someone like Spiller/David WilsonQB - Ryan/Manning/RiversThen i typically take another 3 RB's in a row mining the best backups still on the board (preferably guys like Jacquizz Rodgers who back up older backs with a lot of mileage).I love the way a team like this looks in a PPR. I know there is a more than one way to win your league but I've been using this similar strategy for the last 5 years with pretty good success. I find it alot easier to find RB's late and off waivers.

Ace,

I'm fine with reaching for players if you think they'll produce but the running back position is so thin and the wideouts so deep that you'll put yourself In hole by taking Julio in the first when you can grab a back in the first and then Julio in the second.

Mocks don't give you real value because qbs go earlier than they should and then it seems like guys are falling. Doesn't usually work out that way. Mocks throw people off more than giving an accurate feel of a draft.

This type of rise for a 2nd year wideout that had lingering injuries makes me hesitant. I have no doubt that Julio will have some lights out games but you have to understand as well that there is another 100 catch guy lining up opposite him. I dont think I could pull the trigger on him in the first, thats a huge gamble pick. I see he is going as the wr#2 off the board and for the life of me I dont understand it.
