A Quiet Place...my review of the movie. (1 Viewer)

Well acted, but because it was so quiet it gives one a lot of time to pick apart the dumb aspects of it.

If they didn't acknowledge the rest of the world in it, it may have been more difficult to pick apart.  That being said the army wouldn't have any problem hashing out the fact that sounds could hurt them.  After trying to shoot them, blow them up, nuke them, chemically attack them, then sound would have been the logical next step.  In fact, that they would come running for sound would make them easier to foil.  Instead of no sound, use constant sound. You could use a ping and pong effect with food to basically ensnare them for life.

They appear to be ground base beings, so attacking them from the air would be a never ending battle.  They didn't have fingers, so it would be possible to tag and track them (straps/ adhesive/ inside an animal).     Dumping vats of bacterial glue on them would likely cause them to not be able to move.  If you could trap and  immobilize them then you could blast them into space or sink them into the ocean.   Just a few thoughts I had watching this :)
What bothered me most is a shotgun blast killed the unkillable monster.

I totally agree. The military could have wiped them out without a problem. It's pretty easy to destroy an enemy when you know exactly what to do to bring them into the open.

Find a big canyon, make a bunch of noise, drop a nuke.

I loved the movie, but I just can't get past how easy it would have been to wipe these dudes out with a little effort.
They had impenetrable armor. The high frequency caused the monster to expose a weakness.

Painfully disoriented, the creature exposes the flesh beneath its armored head, and Evelyn shoots the creature in the head with a shotgun, destroying its head and killing it.

Cool, so this thing had armor and bones so tough that a rocket couldn't unhinge the jaw?

Also, they seem to open their mouths an awful lot to shriek during the movie, and open their earflap thing to hear.

Saw this now that it was rentable.

Why have the baby?  Well, isn’t that how the human race survives?  Babies?

That said, I did feel like the discovery of how to kill these creatures (or make them vulnerable) had too much of a Signs element to it (Mel Gibson/Joaquin Phoenix - indestructible aliens with an aversion to water).  So nobody messed with hearing aids globally for two plus years?

I dunno feels like a silly thing to mess with when so many people died and the ones who survived were hiding. And how many deaf people were left? And it was only 472 days. Seems very nit picky.

Seems her hearing aide only had an effect when the thing was like 10 feet away.  Some sort of weird connection/feedback with her device and the alien's ears.  Probably hard to practice that.

At the end ya dont know if they all just die, or if she broadcasts that noise from the hearing aide loudly over all the speakers outside while Blunt goes and blasts all the aliens outside.  I mean, we know what PROBABLY happens, but still interesting.

Some of you people are giving the government and our world leaders a bit too much credit saying we could "easily" eradicate a problem like that.

First, something like this would cause everyone to stop working, so no food or utilities right off the bat.  Mass chaos.  Most of the people killed were probably killed by humans.

There are probably a couple thousand or so high ranking people in some bunker somewhere while a few stragglers are out there fending for themselves.

I liked the movie, but it almost lost me at the beginning.

The order they were walking when the first attack occurred was insanely wrong from just about any parenting angle (never mind the extremely dangerous world they lived in).

Just today, I saw a family on a bike ride on a somewhat busy street.  The order was:  Mom, kid #1, kid #2, Dad.

Their choice of walking order was crazy irresponsible.

This was our first movie going experience since December 2019. Really weird to be in a theater--not many people there at all, 26 minutes of previews all of which had some reference to "only in theaters" accompanied by the same commercial that was run three times about how things need to be seen on a big screen.

Now back to this movie--it was excellent. I loved seeing "Day One" on the screen and that is how the movie started. The starting sequence is about as action filled and intense as you can imagine.. Once the movie settled in, I still really liked it, but would have loved to see some more of the back story.

I don't feel I am giving much away by saying this, but the movie does suffer from the Walking Dead Syndrome.. I saw some fan site once break down how if everyone would have just stopped going off on their own random missions and everyone stayed together, that series would have been done by season three due to everyone being alive and doing well. I felt there were a couple instances like that in this movie, but when watching the first one, there were several of those type moments in that movie as well.

I had one other minor complaint, but I will let some time pass before I comment on it since the spoiler tags work when they want to these days.

So glad we saw it in the theater. It was a great, great movie and worth the wait.

Absolutely loved this from start to finish. My 14 year old daughter came with me and when it was over said "we should just stay and watch it again." Dig the strong female characters.

So happy movie theaters are back.

Just got back from seeing it...

Gotta say the first one was better.

And why couldn't someone just throw a bottle/baseball/object far away and have the monster run over there?

Yeah, I could see that being the case.

When the monster already being let out of the bag and no longer a mystery, the emphasis will have to be  a stronger story line in the sequel.
